SASHA’S POV
“I understand,” I said, pulling back just enough to look at him. “And you’ll have it. I’m not going anywhere, Sebastian. Take all the time you need.”
“But when you come home, I’ll be here. And I’ll do everything I can to make it better. Just… don’t forget that.”
He smiled then, a real smile, though still tinged with sadness. “I won’t forget.”
I leaned in then, pressing my lips to his in a soft, lingering kiss. It was a kiss that spoke of promises-promises of love, of patience, of understanding. I wasn’t going anywhere. And I wouldn’t let him face this alone.
When we finally pulled away, I looked at him with all the determination I could muster. “Remember, Sebastian,” I said, my voice steady.
“You can have a shitty day. Hell, you can have a shitty week. But when you come home… I’ll be here, ready to help you feel better, however I can.”
He nodded, and for the first time in a long while, he seemed to believe it. I knew there would be more tough days ahead, but I also knew we’d face them together. And that made all the difference.
I stood up, holding out my hand to him. “Come on. Let’s get some rest. Tomorrow’s a new day.”
It’s amazing how a single kiss can be so powerful. I feel like I’m floating in the moment, in the rush of emotions that surge through me.
When Sebastian pulls me into his arms, our lips meeting, it feels as if nothing else matters. The weight of the world, the complexities of everything around us, fade into the background as his kiss deepens.
My heart races, and I can’t help but smile into the kiss, knowing that this man, the one I love, is here with me, loving me back.
Sebastian pulls away for a second, looking at me with those eyes-deep, searching, full of sincerity-and says those words I could never get enough of.
“I love you.” His voice is low, full of warmth, and it’s like a promise in the air between us. His fingers gently trace my jawline, his thumb brushing across my lips. “I love you so much.”
It’s almost too much to bear, the way his words make me feel. I lean into him, pressing my forehead against his chest.
“I love you too, Sebastian. Always.” My voice is soft, barely a whisper, as though saying it louder might make the moment too real to keep.
Before we can lose ourselves in each other again, his phone buzzes, breaking the spell. He groans, pulling away reluctantly and reaching for his phone on the nightstand.
The sharp tone of the ringtone cuts through the stillness of the room. He checks the screen quickly and curses under his breath.
“Work,” he mutters, his voice a mix of frustration and resignation.
I can’t help the pout that forms on my lips, the hint of a whine escaping me. “You’re always working, Sebastian,” I murmur, curling my fingers around the sheets.
“Barely had you all to myself since you’ve come back.”
He offers me a small, apologetic smile, but there’s a hint of amusement in his eyes. “I know, baby. I’m sorry.” He brushes a lock of my hair behind my ear, his gaze softening as it meets mine.
“But I promise, I’ll be done in a minute. Then I’m all yours.”
I don’t answer right away. Instead, I cross my arms over my chest and lie back against the pillows, looking up at the ceiling. I’m not really upset, just frustrated by the circumstances.
It feels like every time we get a moment together, something pulls him away-his work, his responsibilities.
I know it’s part of who he is, but still, I wish I could have more time, just the two of us.
Sebastian walks out onto the balcony, the door sliding shut behind him. The faint light from the streetlights below casts shadows across the room, and I can’t help but watch him as he talks on the phone.
His posture is tense, his voice low and serious, and I can tell this conversation is important. I roll onto my side, trying to focus on something else, but my thoughts keep drifting back to him.
I glance at the clock. It’s been ten minutes, then twenty. The longer he’s gone, the more I miss the connection we had just moments ago.
I lie there, staring at the ceiling, my mind wandering to the way he’d held me earlier, the intensity of his touch, the softness of his voice.
And then I start to wonder-what if this phone call doesn’t just work? What if there’s something else, someone else?
I shove the thought away quickly. I can’t let myself go down that path, especially when Sebastian has been nothing but honest with me. I trust him.
Finally, after what feels like an eternity, Sebastian steps back into the room. He looks exhausted, his shoulders heavy with the weight of whatever conversation he’s just had.
But when he meets my eyes, a tired smile stretches across his face, and I can’t help but feel a flicker of relief.
“Everything okay?” I ask, sitting up in bed, my voice small but curious.
He nods, walking back over to me. “Yeah, just work stuff. Nothing to worry about.” His fingers brush against my cheek, warm and comforting. “I’m sorry it took so long, though.”
I roll my eyes playfully. “Of course, it’s work. What else?”
He chuckles, sitting on the edge of the bed beside me. “Yeah, I know. I hate that it pulls me away from you. But…” He pauses, his gaze softening.
“But work can wait. Right now, it’s just you and me. I promise.”
“I can’t help but smile, feeling my frustration from earlier melt away. I crawl into his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck. “I miss you,” I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
He pulls me closer, kissing the top of my head. “I miss you too, Sasha. And I’m here now. For the next few hours, I’m all yours.”
My heart swells at his words. “Really?”
“Really.” He pulls his phone from his pocket and turns it off, setting it on the nightstand with a soft click.
“Five hours,” he says, his voice full of promise. “Five hours with no interruptions. Just you and me.”
I grin, my heart racing. “I’ll hold you to that.”
He smiles back at me, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “You better.”
And just like that, the world outside fades away. All that matters in this moment is him and me, together, without anything or anyone pulling him away.
I press my lips to his, feeling the heat of his kiss, the way his arms wrap around me, pulling me closer, and for the first time in what feels like forever, everything is right.
We have these next few hours to ourselves, and I won’t let anything spoil it.
