Chapter 65 – No one bullies my wife

The atmosphere was tense as Mrs Joseph tried to recover the situation.
“Are you in business with this woman?” The filth in her tone could not be hidden. “I advise that you cut off whatever business you have with-”
“Shush,” Rafael said, his tone riddled with irritation.
Luis released his father’s hand and rushed to June, hugging her leg. “Let’s have dinner together Auntie!”
Hearing the young lad’s sound so taken by her came as a surprise to all the participants who heard the horror stories of the young lad, who was a tyrant to all the nannies and employees who worked for the Ambrose family.
June swallowed and then squatted to meet his size. “Are you hungry, baby?” She whispered, rubbing his hair with a loving gaze. Luis nodded gingerly. “I will just finish things here and we will go grab something together, okay?”
April who was shocked at the dramatic turn of events couldn’t stand still. She had never shared a room with the most powerful man in South City and yet that wench sister of hers seemed to be in a cordial relationship with them.
Her anger steamed within her as she approached them with a smile. “Hello, Mr. Ambrose.” She started with a smile, “My name is-”
Rafael walked past her like she didn’t exist and joined June and Luis.
“There you are.” He said in a soft tone, as he fondly gazed at her. “We have been expecting you for so long. My son could barely sit still.”
June cleared her throat as heat rushed to her cheeks. Rafael leaned into her form and then whispered to her hearing. “Can I steal my wife for the night?”
“Auntie already said we were having dinner!” Luis was fast to protest.
These days he barely had time with his auntie. He was done conceding to his father. He needed to be with his mother too!
“Then we better get going,” Rafael said with a small smile. “Are you ready to leave, miss?”
June nodded, not trusting her voice to speak at that moment. Soon enough, Rafael, June and Luis walked past the people who wondered the identity of this woman who managed to be on good terms with the Ambrose family.
Suddenly, everyone wanted to get to know her and curry favour. The last thing they wanted was to be on the bad side of the Ambrose family. April felt like she had been slapped as she watched June walk away from the place with her head held high while Lucy followed.
Despite the smear on her wretched sister’s name, June managed to get out unscathed. She didn’t even get a chance to gloat and the topic was no longer on her new identity as a husband-snatching gold digger but centred on her alliance with Rafael Ambrose!
Safe to say the party dwindled from then on. Meanwhile, the media was abuzz with the news of the Joseph family marriage crash and June was getting roasted by netizens who bashed her mercilessly.
June dropped Lucy off on their way and the family went to have dinner. “How did you know I was there?” She asked Rafael while the car sped past the city.
Luis spoke first. “I tracked Auntie’s phone and found the location. I missed Auntie.”
“No one bullies my wife.” Rafael wore a deathly gaze. “The Joseph’s will be finished at daylight.”
June covered his hand with hers. “Please, let me handle this.” She batted her eyelids. “Mrs Joseph is not wrong to be upset. She just found out that her husband cheated. I can take care of myself.”
“My wife was slapped. I will not sit still.”
Rafael was rigid in his stance. The Joseph family would pay for ever thinking to lay their hands on his precious. They would sorely regret their entire lives, he would make sure of that!
June bit her lips, confused about how to handle her husband’s anger. She turned to Luis who sat between them, leaning on her with his eyes closed.
“Luis baby, please help me talk to your father,”
The little one’s eyes fluttered open. “No.”
June was startled at the coldness in his tone. This was the first time Luis said no to her, she felt a little stung.
“If my father does not deal mercilessly with them, I will.” The young one added. It was certain he meant it.
June felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. The two men in her life were being unreasonable and she didn’t know how to go about it. Although Mrs Joseph abused her, she could understand.
Anyone in her position would do the same. If there was anyone to be punished, it should be her cheating husband who put them in this situation. Nevertheless, she held her tongue, deciding to pursue this matter at a later time.
The family ate their meal and soon, they returned to the mansion. That night, June and Rafael lay on the bed as she tried to convince him using unconventional methods.
“Will you please forgive Mrs Joseph?” She asked, littering kisses over his face. “I promise I will handle this.”
“No.”
She kissed his temple. “Please?”
“No.”
June placed her leg across his form and in a split-second, sat on top of him with a smile. “What will it take to persuade you, hubby?”
Rafael didn’t say a word as he gazed into the brown orbs of his wife. She was so beautiful. He could never get enough of her. Everything about her drove him to the peak of his sanity.
June’s eyes widened as the hardness of her husband poked at her core. Maybe she might have taken things too far. June made to retreat from her position but Rafael held her still.
“R-Rafael..” She stuttered, shifting uncomfortably in her seat.
A wicked smirk played on Rafael’s lips. “You stirred the dragon awake. You should take responsibility.”
Before June could protest, Rafael covered her lips with his and in no time, they engaged in a rigorous and passionate session of lovemaking that spanned into the early hours of the day. June’s cries of pleasure were all it took to make Rafael come to a pleasant climax, over and over again.
….
Evelyn Rivera sat in the office with her husband who came to pick her up for lunch. Since her last confrontation with April, they have yet to have a conversation.
“Can you believe that she hasn’t called me to apologise?” Mrs Rivera complained to her husband for the hundredth time. “She has taken me for granted and I will not let her get away with it.”
Anthonio tried to placate his wife as he had done for the past few days. “April is just a child. Just give her time and she will come running back to you.”
Evelyn struggled to believe that. In the first few days, she expected her daughter to realise her shortcomings and seek her out. Instead, it has been radio silence from her end. She even had to monitor her outings on social media which was abuzz with news of her daughters.
“I will be meeting with Ethan today.” She said with a faraway look on her face. “Maybe that will humble her a bit.”
Anthonio didn’t consent. “Our daughter might misunderstand this to be a betrayal. I think we should just lay low. April has been on a roll these days, she even put her husband in prison.”
“Who’s to say she can’t do worse to you if provoked?”
Although Anthonio tried to hide it, he had always been scared of his wife’s adopted daughter. He couldn’t help but think of April as a demon who could stop at nothing to get what she wanted.
He’d watched her grow and fight June for everything, getting all the love and attention from his wife and never seemed to be content until she had everything. He blamed his wife for nurturing that side of her but he couldn’t utter a word about it.
Evelyn loved him but he knew she’d waste no time to put him in place if he said something out of line or got out of her good books. The reason he had turned a blind eye to the suffering of June.
Evelyn shut down her computer and stood up.
“That’s where you are wrong, love. I trained April. If there is anyone capable of putting our daughter on check, it’s me.” She picked up her bag. “The only thing my daughter fears is to get beaten at her own game. I taught her never to concede, it’s only normal I teach her when to step back from a fight.”
Anthonio thought otherwise but decided to take it up at a later time. Together, they went for lunch and afterwards, Evelyn made her way to South City prison. Ethan couldn’t hide his shock when he stared at his mother-in-law.
“Have you also come to mock me?” He gritted. “Your daughter did a good job of it the last time she came.”
“April came here?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know. Have you come to gloat? To tell me what a fool I was? Did you also know that the child wasn’t mine?” Ethan tried and failed to hide the pain in his tone.
Evelyn’s eyes widened in shock. “What did you say?”
