Damian’s eyes narrow as he watches every movement of his wife, leaning on the wall. Melody didn’t even give a single glance at him knowing he was watching. She could feel his glares at the back of his head. She lets out a heavy sigh and puts down the wooden rolling pin.
“Dam, you are distracting me,” she turns to him.
“I didn’t do anything,” Damian replied with a calm demeanor.
“You did! You staring at me like you could kill me any second. Come on, what’s wrong right now?” Melody sighs.
“You are working is what’s wrong,” he gets off of the wall, “You are pregnant, and you are working. I told you to let Celestia and the others do the job,” Damian complained.
She puts her hands on her hips, “Even if I’m pregnant, I’m not that weak, idiot. I can hit you with this rolling pin if I want.”
“It’s not about whether you are weak or not. It’s about the condition you are in. Your safety,” he sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Are we seriously going to fight about this all over again? You know I wouldn’t listen right?” She grins.
Damian knows that too well. That’s why he’s not given up also in this. Just watching from the surroundings she’s in right now, there’s a lot of possibilities that could happen to her right now.
“Yes, you are one stubborn woman. I don’t know how I can keep it up with you,” he talks more to himself.
“Because you love me,” she smirks and wiggles her eyebrows.
He looks at her with disgust. “Stop talking nonsense.”
“What? Just admit it,” Melody slightly elbows him. “Don’t hide that high school crush of yours,”
“This is stupid…” he mumbles before pushing her away. “You know what? Just get back to your work.”
Melody smirks. Finally, she got the peace she wanted. She grins and gets back to her work knowing Damian won’t bother her anymore. Look like she has to say that whenever he tries to confront her about stopping.
Damian steps out of the pantry. As he lifts his gaze, Riccardo stands there, looking at him with concern.
“What are you doing here?” He arches his eyebrows.
“Uh…If you don’t mind, can we talk for a minute?” Riccardo asks with an unsure tone.
What’s wrong with him today? Damian couldn’t help but ask himself that question in his heart. Usually, this wouldn’t hesitate to drag him out and annoy him all day.
“Sure, I guess. I’m free right now,” Damian answers, glancing at Matthew to accompany him.
As they are about to walk, Riccardo grabs his arms, stopping him from walking. Damian looks at him in confusion. ” Just both of us…please…” he whispers.
Matthew and Damian exchange looks. At the end, Damian just sighs and nods. Just seeing the expression on Riccardo is enough to tell him that this guy is serious.
He looks at Matthew and gestures for him to leave. Without any question, his friend nods and walks away, giving both privacy.
“What’s wrong with both of them?” Victor asks as he leans on the counter.
“I don’t know. Riccardo just wants to talk with Damian alone,” he shrugs his shoulder.
Celestia who’s in charge of the cashier heard the conversation, “You shouldn’t have left.”
“What do you expect me to do? Eavesdropping?” He scoffs.
“Yes, idiot,” she rolls her eyes.
“Damn, I’m just being sarcastic-but I wouldn’t do that! I’m not a nosy person like you, geez,” Matthew sneers.
“N-Nosy!? Hey! I’m not nosy!!” Celestia slams the counter.
“Yes, you are! Look at you! Not even a single gossip you didn’t know,” he smirks.
Celestia glares at him then grins mischievously, “Say who kneeled for me to tell them a juicy gossip just wanted to participate in it.”
Matthew’s smile dropped. He narrows his eyes on her, “I didn’t kneel for you. I just beg,”
“It’s the same thing, short man,” she scoffs.
“S-Short man!? I’m not short!!” He yells.
“You are!”
“Oh yeah? How about you, old lady with wrinkles on her face!” Matthew fights back.
“W-Wrinkle-old? How dare you!!” Celestia looks at him with an offended expression.
Victor who is standing there, witnessing their argument let out a heavy sigh. He wishes one of them had gone on an outside mission.
“This is disaster…” Victor mumbles.
Riccardo closes the door. They are standing outside the bakery. Damian is standing there with his arms crossed, looking at him with confusion and suspense.
“So, what is so important that you ask to talk privately?” He asks.
“It’s…I…I don’t know how to start…” Riccardo scratched at the back of his head.
Damian never saw him like this. “You never hesitated to say something in front of me before. I assume this important.”
“It is…it is crucial.”
He firmly speaks, looking at Damian with serious death. He didn’t know how to tell him about it.
Suddenly, the door opened by Melody. She looks at them with confusion. “Oh. I’m sorry. Did I interrupt something?”
“Not really. Where are you going?” Damian asks.
“I need to go order something for my stock,” she answers.
“Didn’t I tell you my men can do that for you?” Damian sighs. “Why can’t you listen to me for once?”
“Calm your ass down, old man. Your men are with me too to do this task.” Melody rolls her eyes, walking past him. “Geez, so dramatic.”
Damian heard her mumbles about him being dramatic. He lets out a sigh and shakes his head slightly.
“If you still hesitate to talk about it, maybe we can talk later,” he looks at Riccardo who still trying to convince himself to start talking.
As Damian is about to turn around, he speaks, “It’s about Melody.”
Damian’s steps halt. He looks at his friend with arched eyebrows. “What about my wife?”
“Look…I…I think you should keep a close eye on her.” Riccardo clenched his fist, “Matthias already knows about her.”
Just hearing that from his mouth made Damian’s finger twitch. He is fine with everything about Matthias but if it involved Melody, something triggered in him.
“I see…” he mumbles.
“You…You are not worried?” Riccardo frowns.
“Why should I?” Damian asks.
“I mean…that’s your wife,” he states.
Damian smirks, “No need to make it clear. I know that already. I just worried about that old man.”
“Why do you have to worry about Matthias?”
“Everyone knows what will happen if anyone does something to Melody. They wouldn’t last long, I promise you that.”
Riccardo could feel a shiver through his spine by Damian’s words. He knows this guy meant everything he said.
“Anyway, how did you about that?” He inquired.
“Oh. I met him yesterday,” Riccardo spills it out.
