Kendal Roy had always looked down on Flynn from the depths of her heart. He had some talent, sure, but his mouth was far too foul.
Flynn had a habit of spewing vulgarities at every turn, disregarding who he was speaking to or what their status was.
What angered her the most was how he spoke about the Eight Extremities School, which she revered as if it were sacred. To Flynn, though, it was nothing more than a pile of ants.
The school, with its tens of thousands of disciples, was dismissed by Flynn as a garbage dump.
As the newly appointed leader of Niarak, Kendal Roy felt it was her responsibility to teach Flynn a lesson.
And today was the perfect opportunity.
Lilia chuckled and said, “Second in command, Flynn is indeed detestable, but asking about this matter so recklessly might anger God of War and General Yancey. That question is just too naive.”
“Let me tell you something,” she continued. “After the Cloudgate Mountain massacre, Layla went to the scene. All evidence points to General Yancey being responsible for that incident.”
Kendal Roy froze for a moment, her brows furrowing. Layla was at the scene back then?
“That’s right,” Layla said coldly. “After the incident, I went to Cloudgate Mountain and happened to meet General Yancey on his way down. We exchanged a few words.
“He was only wearing a shirt and shorts at the time. It was obvious he had discarded his jacket because it was soaked in blood.
“General Cruz had bloodstains on his clothes too, but Flynn was spotless.”
“I see.” Kendal Roy’s eyes narrowed slightly as she let out a snort.
“That bastard really knows how to brag without even blushing!”
“Damn it! I’d love to shove him right next to General Yancey and let him teach Flynn a lesson!”
A glint of coldness flickered in Lilia’s eyes as she smiled mysteriously. “If you want God of War and General Yancey to know about this, it’s not impossible. You just have to ask in a different way.”
“Here’s what you should say…”
Lilia whispered her idea, and a sly smile immediately spread across Kendal Roy’s lips.
“Ms. Hussain, your idea is brilliant! It won’t offend them, and it’ll shift the blame entirely onto Flynn.”
Layla, watching the two conspiring against Flynn, remained silent.
She had nothing to do with Flynn anymore. Whether he lived or died meant nothing to her.
To her, he was like a pest-a creature so insignificant that even the stars in the sky wouldn’t notice its existence.
Their conversation was interrupted by a sudden commotion outside the entrance of the Peninsula Hotel.
“General Cruz is here!”
The chatter in the lobby came to an abrupt halt, and like a tidal wave, the crowd surged toward the entrance.
At the door, a tall man in civilian clothes strode toward the lobby with an imposing presence.
He was broad-shouldered, with a muscular chest and an aura as overwhelming as a mountain. He responded to the crowd’s greetings with only a slight nod, his face devoid of much expression.
Kendal Roy hurried to the entrance.
The real show was about to begin.
Her mission from the high-ranking members of the Eight Extremities School was clear: calm General Cruz and Yves Yancey’s anger and sincerely apologize.
If she executed this perfectly, her position as the leader of Niarak would be secure.
Outside the Peninsula Hotel, the guests stood in two neat rows, leaving a pathway to the grand hall. Each face bore a warm smile, welcoming General Cruz.
“Thank you, General Cruz, for honoring us with your presence. The Cloudgate Mountain incident was a terrible offense, causing panic among the people. It was entirely the fault of the Eight Extremities School.”
“But I assure you, it was the personal actions of Maximo. The leadership of the Eight Extremities School was entirely unaware of it!”
Kendal Roy extended her hand to General Cruz, bowing slightly as she offered her most sincere apology.
General Cruz replied indifferently, “The Eight Extremities School has been too reckless in recent years. Tell Ronald Hussain to stop hiding away in seclusion and to get a proper handle on his subordinates.”
“If anything like this happens again, the Eight Extremities School won’t be allowed to exist.”
Truthfully, he didn’t even want to come here. But the Eight Extremities School had grown too arrogant recently.
They not only gathered in large groups to flaunt their strength and disrupt social order, but they had also offended Mr. Clark.
General Cruz felt it was necessary to come and put them in their place.
Kendal Roy nodded repeatedly, her face full of respect. “You’re absolutely right, General Cruz. After the Maximo incident, our leadership has undergone deep reflection.”
“We’ve decided to focus on legitimate business and have issued strict orders to prevent any unlawful activities-”
General Cruz raised a hand, cutting her off impatiently. “Enough. What good are empty words? Prove it with action.”
He had long despised the Eight Extremities School. Even without the Cloudgate Mountain incident, he would still have a poor opinion of them.
Organizations like theirs were irredeemable, full of deceit, saying whatever suited their needs in the moment.
They were a plague.
Still, the Eight Extremities School clearly had powerful figures backing them. General Cruz refrained from saying more.
Kendal Roy froze for a moment, then quickly forced a smile. “Of course, General Cruz. We’ll follow your guidance to the letter.”
She glanced toward the entrance and hesitated before speaking cautiously.
“Um… when I called you, I also invited Yves Yancey, the Heavenly King. He said he would come, but… why is it only you here?”
Kendal Roy chose her words carefully, each one weighed and measured to avoid offending.
For someone like Yves Yancey, who held the status of a Provincial Prince in ancient terms, Kendal Roy didn’t dare take any chances.
A single misstep could lead to her utter ruin.
To her, Yves Yancey was like a deity-so far above her that even the slightest miscalculation in her words could spell disaster.
“We were on our way together,” General Cruz replied blandly, “but halfway here, Penelope called. She wanted to arrange a meeting between Rocco Spencer and General Yancey. So, I came ahead.”
Events like these were beneath him, and Yves Yancey cared even less.
The only reason they were remotely interested was because they’d heard some women connected to Mr. Clark would be attending-including his ex-wife, Madeline.
Curiosity had gotten the better of them.
Hearing this, Kendal Roy’s expression became even more reverent.
The Heavenly King Yves Yancey’s influence was truly extraordinary. Rocco Spencer had sent Penelope to personally meet with him in Niarak!
Then again, it made sense. Yves Yancey deserved such treatment.
If Rocco Spencer weren’t so tied up with official duties, he might have come himself.
This was the level of power wielded by the Heavenly King of the Nation. They represented the absolute pinnacle of Ostrad’s hierarchy.
“In that case, allow me to escort you to your seat,” Kendal Roy said with a polite smile, leading General Cruz to the head table.
Madeline watched General Cruz take his seat, standing by her own table in a daze.
This was her first time seeing General Cruz up close.
In the past, whenever the God of War returned to Niarak to honor his ancestors, Mr. Richardson would host a banquet, inviting the heads of Niarak’s ten most prominent families to dine together.
Families like the Kaurs didn’t even qualify to dine under the same roof as General Cruz.
Yet now, that dream was a reality.
Madeline felt as if she were in a dream.
What was a real man?
What was dignity?
What was power?
General Cruz was the embodiment of all of it.
His towering physique, his commanding aura like a rushing river, his stern and awe-inspiring face that exuded authority without a word…
Flynn, if you had even a fraction of General Cruz’s qualities, I never would have divorced you.
But the truth is, you’re worthless-a complete failure.
No, wait, I’m wrong.
How could I even compare Flynn to General Cruz? That comparison alone would be an insult to the God of War.
To compare a cup of filthy water to the entire ocean-how could that not be an insult to the ocean itself?
