The next morning, after the rain had cleared, the entire city was spotless, and even the air smelled fresh. A gleaming Lamborghini departed from Emerald Bay, driven by a chauffeur towards Marsh Group. Ivan sat in the back seat by the window, an open laptop on his knees as he analyzed a set of data. His focused work demeanor was particularly charming. He wore a black suit with a white shirt underneath, and a black tie designed by his wife, which he adored.
He had not been to the company for a long time. For the week before Jennifer’s due date, he stayed at home with her every day and had been by her side ever since. Today, after receiving several calls from the company and being urged by Jennifer to go out, he finally agreed to go to the office. According to Aubree, he had become a standard wife-and-daughter-loving maniac who didn’t even care about the company anymore.
Soon, the car stopped at the entrance of the Marsh Group’s main building. Ivan glanced out of the window and saw Elisa and Andrew getting out of the same car. They walked hand in hand into the company’s glass doors. This scene surprised Ivan a little; were they together now? However, he quickly composed himself, put away his laptop, and got out of the car.
“Good morning, Mr. Marsh.”
“Good morning, Mr. Marsh.”
“Morning, Mr. Marsh.”
Ivan had an innate aura of nobility, combined with his tall stature and handsome features, his exceptional demeanor, and his position as president. Everyone in the company greeted him respectfully and sincerely whenever they saw him.
“Morning.” In a good mood, he would respond with his sexy voice without any airs of a boss.
“Congratulations on becoming a father again, Mr. Marsh,” some bold employees would add.
“Thank you.” Ivan couldn’t hide his smile whenever he thought of his little daughter; he almost wanted to hang a sign around his neck declaring himself a doting father.
Under some people’s watchful eyes, he walked into the elevator and the doors closed behind him.
“Hey, did you notice that this is Mr. Marsh’s first appearance at the company after the vice president gave birth to their second child? His smile is unprecedented.”
“So you can tell if someone is happy or not at a glance. Our Mr. Marsh seems to be in a honey pot.”
“I really envy the vice president; she must be the happiest woman in the world.”
“Isn’t she? It’s blessings accumulated over several lifetimes.”
Upstairs, on the floor where the president’s office was located, Ivan walked into his elegantly simple office. He had just sat down at his desk when Andrew came in with some documents.
“Good morning, Mr. Marsh. These are last quarter’s financial statements; I’ve also sent you an electronic copy.”
“A happy event coming up?” Ivan took them and smiled at him.
Andrew didn’t understand what he meant and paused for a moment.
Ivan smiled again. “Are you no longer single?”
Andrew was slightly stunned but then understood. “Did you see us earlier?”
Ivan didn’t answer but instead smiled and turned back to his computer. “Planning to get married?”
“We’re looking at houses recently.” Thinking about marriage made Andrew smile happily; Elisa’s personality made him feel very comfortable.
“Where are you planning to buy? How are the prices?” Ivan asked casually.
“We’re interested in a place in Amethyst Cove, mainly considering schools and convenient transportation near a subway entrance. The price isn’t cheap but manageable-over four hundred thousand dollars.”
Ivan knew Andrew didn’t have that much money. “How much will you mortgage?” He was well aware of Andrew’s salary as his boss.
Andrew didn’t feel embarrassed because anyone compared to Mr. Marsh would still be far from wealthy.
So he answered honestly, “We’ll probably need a three hundred thousand dollar loan with a down payment of just over one hundred thousand.”
Ivan opened a drawer and took out a bank card, handing it to him. “There’s three hundred thousand dollars here; take it as my wedding gift. Remember to send us an invitation when you get married.”
“Mr. Marsh…” Andrew was shocked. “I can’t accept this…”
“What’s wrong with accepting it?” Ivan interrupted him. “Do you know how much interest you’ll pay on a three hundred thousand dollar loan? You’ll spend most of your life working for the bank.”
