Aiden’s POV
I was so surprised by what she had done. What my mate did was beyond me. She had made everyone in the hall bow, and she had begun to bless them. I was shocked when I saw my father bow to her. She was so powerful, more powerful than my father. She was crowned the queen by my mother herself, and my father had also stepped down for us. We could rule over them as their king and queen. I knew it would happen someday, but I had no idea it would happen so soon.
Everyone was happy for us. They began to congratulate us and wish us well. A young girl brought a gift for her. She made her proud. She freed the slaves, and there was no longer an omega in the pack. She treated everyone equally. Not only that, but she changed some rules in the pack. She guided the females and taught them how to fight and defend themselves. Even the youngest Lycan in the pack was a warrior.
Everyone was pleased with her, except one person, my father. He didn’t like her decision, but he had no say in it since he was no longer the king. She was always busy, and the leisure time she got, she spent with my mother instead of her mates. We missed her. She dedicated her time to the pack. We hardly saw our beloved mate anymore.
Anna’s wedding would be held soon. We also planned to hold a wedding for her.
“Hi, baby!” she walked in and greeted me. I was so happy that she was here. She sat beside me.
I started kissing her neckline, but she tried to push me away.
“What’s wrong, baby?” I asked. “I missed you. Don’t you miss me?”
“Hold on, honey. I’m so tired. I can’t do anything for now,” she uttered.
“But why? Ever since you became the queen, you have no time for us anymore,” I mumbled. “Why are you doing this? Why do you choose your people over your mates?”
“Easy, love, I’m doing all this for us! They are our people, our people, Aiden,” she muttered. “We should offer them our all.”
“I understand you, darling, but you must consider us as well. You get up early and come back late at night, and you decide to spend your leisure time with our mother,” I howled. “Why?”
She announced, “About that, she is teaching me how to be a good queen that everyone will love and respect. She’s so kind to teach me all this.”
I stopped arguing with her when I realized I could never win against her.
“My sister’s wedding is coming soon, I will need to go home to help her with buying her dress and all,” she said.
I wasn’t angry, but sad. Why was she like this? She was leaving to help her sister out for her wedding.
“Anne, baby, it’s okay. You can do whatever you want. We will stand by you as your mates.”
She hugged me, “Thank you, my king.”
Anna’s wedding was fast approaching. My mate had left home to help her out.
“Hi, brother,” Ethan walked in. “You feel sad. Are you okay?”
I looked at my brother. He had just come back from sorting the pack work.
“How was the meeting with the elders?” I asked. “Did you get along well with them?”
“Oh yes! Everything went well and was in order. I managed to handle them well,” he let out. “And how are you feeling, brother?”
“I’m fine. I miss her,” I groaned. “I miss her so much. I never imagined all these things were going to happen to us. We only wanted to introduce her as our mate, but she was suddenly crowned the queen by our mother. She’s so loyal to the members that she started neglecting us. I’m so jealous and worried. Won’t she choose them over us?”
“Don’t be jealous, brother. She’s only doing her duties as their queen,” Ethan said. “She’s our mate and their queen.”
“What are you talking about, Ethan?” I asked. “She’s only mine.”
“Don’t be selfish, brother,” he mumbled. “We both love her, but she must perform her duties, and that is what makes her the Lycan queen. The members are our family. You should understand this more.”
I let out, “Okay, I understand what you are trying to say. Together with her, we shall rule the pack.”
After my conversation with my brother, I decided to let her do whatever she wanted. I would support her with everything. Ethan and I started engaging ourselves with the pack stuff. We got busy all day.
“I’m so tired,” Ethan said. “Today is so stressful, brother.”
“My king,” Benjamin walked in. He was my father’s gamma’s son, Scott.
He automatically became our right-hand man when we were crowned the king of the Lycans.
“What can I do for you, Benjamin?” I asked.
“My king, a werewolf alpha from the werewolf king seeks your audience! He said he needs your help in dealing with the rogues.”
“Our help?” Ethan asked. “But why us when he should have reached out to the werewolf king? They all know we don’t involve ourselves in their matters.”
“It’s okay, Ethan. Benjamin, let him in.”
Benjamin walked out, and a few minutes later, he was back with the unknown Alpha.
“Good afternoon, King of Lycans,” he greeted. “My name is Alpha Jerry. I seek your protection. Please help my people from the rogue’s attack.”
I was suspicious about him. How did he find his way to our kingdom? It was extra difficult to find our kingdom because we lived far away from others, Fae, werewolves, and vampires.
How did he manage to find his way here?
“We welcome you, Alpha Jerry,” Ethan said. “We were surprised to see you here in our kingdom.”
“Thank you, my king. I have no bad intentions. I’m only here to seek your protection,” he announced.
I sighed, “Alpha Jerry, you are a werewolf. We are Lycans. We don’t get involved in werewolf business. I hope you know that. Why don’t you seek help from the werewolf king? I’m sure he will be glad to help you out.”
“My king, I did that, but I was not given an audience. I was not allowed to meet our king. The former Lycan queen is the werewolf king’s junior sister. That is why I seek your help,” he said. “Please help me.”
He fell to his knees, begging for help. He was so pitiful, yet my Lycan doubted him.
He was here on a mission. I could feel it. Why didn’t their king help him?
“Please, help us. My pack is almost declining,” he sobbed.
“Brother, I think we should help him,” Ethan mind-linked me.
“I doubt him. Don’t you feel that he was lying, Ethan?” I reacted. “Besides, we Lycans don’t get ourselves involved in werewolf business.”
“Let’s leave that aside, brother. We are one. Our mother is also a wolf. I think I get what you are trying to say. He’s here with an impure mind,” he murmured. “He’s on a mission. Let’s do this. Let’s pretend to help him and find out his mission.”
I replied, “Okay. Let’s do as you say.”
“Stand up, alpha,” Ethan whimpered. “Wipe away your tears. We will assist you in resolving your issue.”
“Really?” he asked. “Thank you so much.”
After discussing his pack issue, he told us how the rogues operated. He invited us to stay in his pack to monitor the enemy’s movement.
Why was he trying his best to get us out of the kingdom? No werewolf had ever stepped on our land while my father was still the king, but he stepped on our land without anyone noticing him.
We had to find out how he did that. We promised to go to his pack and stay for a few days. We began discussing it among ourselves when he left.
