Ava’s POV
Yesterday was the best night of my life. The night I got marked by my mates. I never knew I had the Lycan part in me. All this while, I thought I was just a mere human. I was happy that the Lycan king was going to accept me properly when he learned I also had a Lycan wolf. I was complete. Likewise, I was Ethan and Aiden’s true mate and queen.
“Hi, my wolf spoke in my head. I’m Camilla,” said Camilla. “Nice to meet you, Ava.”
“It’s my pleasure, Camilla,” I replied, smiling, and thanked her for finally showing up.
“Aw, I’m so sorry for showing up late. I was in a deep slumber all these years,” she said, feeling sorry.
“It’s okay, I am not mad at you, Cami. Can we be friends?” I inquired.
“We have been friends ever since you were born. Our destiny is already tied together. And Ava, I want to talk to you about those mates of yours,” Camilla whispered.
I could feel the evil tone in her voice. “Did she dislike them? But why? Are mates supposed to hate each other? She startled me already.”
“What’s wrong, Cami?” I asked her, feeling bothered.
“Nothing is wrong, Ava. I’m sorry, and I’m not deeply sorry to say this, but those mates of yours are not worth me,” she blurted out.
“What? What is that supposed to mean? Are you kidding me or what? What did they do wrong? They never hurt me or you. So, why? Why are they not worthy of you, Camilla? Tell me,” I demanded.
“Listen, Ava, I’m your wolf, your other half. I will never hurt or mislead you. I’m angry, and I promise myself that anytime I have the chance to talk to you, it will be the day I am going to reject them. I’m going to put those bastards of mates in their place. How dare they repudiate you when they first met you as a human? They must have believed you didn’t deserve them. I can feel your sadness when they rejected you. I can feel everything you are feeling. Your sadness and your happiness. I am Camilla, the legendary war goddess. I’m one of a kind,” she announced.
“What? Are you kidding me? Are you for real? You want to reject them because of what they did to me? Do you realize they did that to protect me from their father? They never wanted him to hurt me. Please forgive them for my sake. After all, I’m bearing their mark, and everything is in the past,” I told her. “Please, Camilla.”
Camilla went silent. She never replied to me.
“But why is she behaving like a bitch? She’s a tough one. Despite my begging, she refuses to forgive them. I was alone, thinking about what my wolf told me. I never noticed Ethan’s presence.
“Hi, baby, what’s wrong?” Ethan’s voice whistled, hauling me out of my thoughts. “Tell me, honey, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing. I’m okay,” I answered back.
“No, please, don’t tell me that. Tell me what’s wrong, Ava,” Ethan said. “You can’t just tell me that everything is okay when I can feel your emotions and sadness.”
I saw Aiden walk in. He wrapped his hand around my waist. “I can feel all your emotions. It’s mixed with fear and sadness. What is wrong, love?” Aiden asked, kissing me on the forehead.
“It’s about Camilla,” I muttered.
“Camilla?” Aiden asked. “Who is Camilla, Ava?”
“Camilla. She’s my Lycan wolf,” I replied.
“Oh, you have already talked to her. Then why are you sad?” Ethan asked. “What happened between you both?”
“Nothing happened between us. I’m just worried about what she told me earlier,” I uttered, not knowing how I would deliver the news to them.
“What did she tell you?” they both asked.
“I don’t want you guys to feel bad or hate her,” I muttered.
“Hate? Never. We can never hate our female Lycan. She is our mate as well,” Ethan explained. “We will always love her, no matter what she does. So tell us, baby, what’s bothering you.”
“It’s my wolf, Camilla. She told me she could never accept you guys as her mates,” I cried out.
“What?!” they both exclaimed. “What did we do wrong? Why is she rejecting us? Why does she hate us?” they both asked.
Where should I start by answering your question? From what I understand, she said she wants to reject you guys because you rescinded me when I was just a human. She got super angry when she felt how sad and hurt I was,” I explained.
“But, baby, we already explained everything to you. We did that to protect you from our Imperial Father. Didn’t you explain everything to her?” they asked.
“I did. I tried my best, but she refuses to listen to me. I begged her to forgive you guys, but since then, she refuses to talk to me as well,” I confessed.
“No wonder. My Lycan wolf tried to reach out to her, but she blocked him,” Aiden said. “She’s a feisty one. I like her already.”
“Instead of that, I think we should start looking for a way for her to accept us as her mates,” Ethan uttered. “I don’t want to lose her. It’s all because of me. I regret it. I regret everything. I should have listened to you, brother.”
I was shocked when Ethan began to cry. He was crying like a baby. A grown-up guy like him. What a view.
“Ethan, please don’t cry. My heart bled when I saw you cry. I will talk to her,” I said, trying to comfort my crying mate.
