A week had passed, and Tania was growing impatient. She couldn’t stand the idea of Ella being alive and out of her reach, especially knowing she had Ethan’s children. Desperation gnawed at her, and with Crystal’s persistence and Fabian’s reluctant agreement, she decided to act.
Fabian, however, wasn’t the same. His mind was heavy with guilt, torn between his duty to Tania and his growing concern for Ella and her children. He had been walking a fine line, pretending to remain loyal while secretly hoping for an out.
Crystal had already known where Ella is hiding so she and Fabian drove there, they parked a few meters away from the house, Crystal sensed Fabian’s unusual silence. “Something bothering you?” she asked, glancing at him suspiciously.
Fabian just shook his head, avoiding her gaze. “Nothing,” he muttered, stepping out of the car and walking toward the house without waiting for her.
Crystal followed, her nerves on edge. When they reached the front door, Fabian hesitated briefly before breaking it open. He entered with his gun drawn, scanning the house carefully.
But it was empty.
Fabian frowned and turned toward Crystal, his voice tense. “Are you sure you saw Ella enter this house?”
“Of course, I did,” Crystal replied defensively. She looked around, her own confusion growing as they searched every corner. It looked like no one had lived there for days.
Fabian’s patience snapped. “Are you playing some kind of game with me? You said Ella and the kids were here!”
Crystal, unfazed by his anger, shrugged. “They probably just left. We’ll find them again.”
Fabian stared at her, frustration boiling over. “Find them again? That’s easy for you to say, You don’t have anything to lose, do you?” Without waiting for a reply, he stormed out of the house.
