Later that evening, Fabian sat in his apartment, staring blankly at the wall. His phone rested on the table beside him, untouched since the meeting with Tania. He felt trapped between two worlds one where he could continue this path of betrayal, lies, and danger, and another where he could try to make things right, but at an immense cost.
His thoughts drifted to Ella and the twins. He hadn’t seen them in weeks, but the memory of their faces, their laughter, haunted him. They were his only tether to the life he wanted the life he could never have. He had failed them once before, and now, the weight of his failure threatened to crush him.
A knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts. He tensed, unsure of who it could be. Slowly, he rose from his seat and walked to the door, peeking through the peephole.
It was Crystal.
Fabian opened the door, letting her in. She stepped inside, her expression as neutral as ever, but there was a strange glint in her eyes something he couldn’t quite place.
“We need to talk,” Crystal said, her voice low and serious.
Fabian sighed, motioning for her to sit down. He sat across from her, his gaze wary. “What is it?”
Crystal leaned forward, her elbows resting on her knees. “I’ve been thinking about Tania’s plan. About killing Ella. And I know this might surprise you, but I’m starting to think we have another option.”
Fabian frowned. “What do you mean?”
Crystal’s eyes locked onto his. “Tania wants Ella dead because she sees her as a threat. But what if we could get rid of Tania instead?”
Fabian’s heart skipped a beat. He had never expected Crystal to suggest turning on their employer. “You’re talking about going against Tania? That’s dangerous.”
Crystal nodded. “I know. But think about it. Tania’s unstable, and she’s a liability to all of us. She’s already caused too much chaos. If we eliminate her, Ella and the kids would be safe, and you wouldn’t have to keep betraying the woman you love.”
Fabian leaned back, running a hand through his hair. The idea was tempting-more tempting than he wanted to admit. But the risks were enormous. “And what about you? Why would you want to go against Tania now?”
Crystal’s lips curled into a small, almost imperceptible smile. “I have my reasons. Let’s just say I’m tired of working for someone who’s lost control.”
Fabian stared at her, his mind racing. This could be the way out the path he had been desperately searching for. But it would take careful planning, and one wrong move could end in disaster.
“Alright,” Fabian said finally, his voice steady. “Let’s do it. But we need to be smart about this. Tania won’t go down easily.”
Crystal nodded, her eyes gleaming with determination. “We’ll make it work. Together.”
As they began to lay out their plan, Fabian felt a flicker of hope for the first time in a long time. The road ahead was dangerous, but if they succeeded, he could finally make amends for everything.
And maybe, just maybe, he could win Ella back.
