Ethan woke up early the next morning, remembering he has a business meeting, he quickly got to get ready, checking on Tania seeing that she’s still asleep, satisfied she was sleeping, he left to prepare for work.
Just as he was finishing up, Grace knocked on their bedroom door. With a cheerful “Good morning, Dad,” she greeted him before quickly heading off to get ready for school. Grace was eager for her dad to take her to school today; she couldn’t wait for him to meet her new friends.
On the drive to Grace’s school Ethan remembered he still had to talk to Tania about what is happening, he was so lost in thought that he didn’t realize he had gotten to the school until Grace asked if he could wait to meet her friends, parking the car at the schools parking lot he replied sure sweetheart.
Grace sighting Leo and Liam waving goodbye their mother excitedly existed from the car running towards them, ‘hi Leo, hi Liam she said, ‘Hi Liam and Leo replied excitedly, asking her how she was. ‘ I’m ok Grace said. I want you guys to meet my dad Grace said seeing her Dad walking towards them.
Ethan on getting close to the children stood in shock looking at the two boys who has a striking resemblance to him.
Daddy these are my friends I told you and mummy about, this is Leo and Liam she said excitedly’ “good morning sir Leo and Liam said to Ethan smiling and wondering why he was staring at them like that.
Ethan replied good morning to the boys still looking shocked and confused as to why two kids, strangers at that would look or have a resemblance to him, chucking it up to just mere coincidence.
He introduced himself as Ethan, and after a little chit chat he quickly told to go inside the school and bid them good time realizing he’s late for his meeting.
After the meeting Ethan sat in his office staring at the clouds through the window, his mind wondering back to the twins he saw this morning, although they looked like him, their smile reminded him of his late wife Ella he thought.
He wondered who their parents were. and why fate had crossed their paths in such a strange and unsettling way.
He broke out of his thoughts when he heard a knock on the door, come in he said, looking up at who was at his door he saw his secretary holding a package. Sir, this just arrived for you,” she said, handing it over with a polite smile.
He thanked her and took the package, noticing that there was no return address. It was plain, unmarked, and somehow ominous. His hands trembled slightly as he opened it, and when he saw what was inside, he nearly fell out of his chair, at the same time his phone pinged with a notification, on seeing what was written on the news he cried while resting his head on his table, hoping that what he read and saw is not true.
Mean while back at home Tania woke at noon from a restless sleep, that has become a norm for her these days, getting up from the bed she decided to get some work done when her phone buzzed, reaching for it, she saw several notifications her heart sank as she realized something is terribly wrong.
Tania swiped through the notifications, her eyes widening in horror as she saw the headlines. “Prominent wife Tania to businessman Ethan Exposed: Dark Secrets Revealed.” “Ethan is not the real father of their daughter Grace,’ ‘does Ethan know that the child who has been calling him daddy for years is not his’.
The words blurred together as she scrolled through the article, her face paled along with her chest tightening with the new revelation.
No, no, no, no, this can’t be happening, how did this get out, she asked herself screaming.
Tania shook her head, her mind racing.
“It has to be Ella, yes it has to be her. She’s the only one who would go this far to destroy me.” Her voice trembled with a mix of fear and fury. The facade she had carefully maintained was crumbling around her, and the world was watching.
Her blood ran cold at the realization that Ethan must have seen the news. How will she get out of this she thought.
Tania’s phone rang jolting her up from her thoughts, when she saw the caller ID Ethan, she began shaking again, picking up her phone, ‘hello she said her voice shaking, ‘ who is Grace’s father as the first statement she heard, ‘ I .. i.. i.. you are her father she said taking a deep breath. Really Ethan replied with a cold tone’.
Yes Tania replied biting her finger nails out of nervousness.
Are you lying to me right now, Ethan screamed over the phone, ‘no I’m not Tania replied, she’s your child she said her voice now low’ ‘ are the news lying too Tania.
‘the news is all fake, it was just written by Ella to spite me and break our relationship because she’s jealous Tania replied. Ethan hearing Ella’s name paused and looked at his phone, what does Ella has to do with this he said, she has been dead and buried for 6 years now he thought.
Hel…. hello Tania said realizing her slip up, ‘what does the dead have to do with this Tania? Ella is dead remember? Ethan screamed frustrated at the situation. Taking a deep breath he said we’ll talk when I get back and hangs up. Tania screams throwing her phone across the room. ‘you will Pay for this Ella she thought’.
On the other side of town, Ella sat in a coffee shop with Fabian talking about their plan when she received a message from Derek; the first phase is done. She smiled and looked up to Fabian saying the game has officially begun. ‘What did you do Ella? Fabian asked, check the news she replied still smiling.
Fabian on seeing the news smirked and asked Ella any idea who the biological father is? ‘ still working on it she said, as far as I know Tania wasn’t dating anyone so who knows, I will soon get answers anyway she said sipping her coffee
‘Fabian on hearing that Tania wasn’t seeing anyone, his mind wondered back to the night of passion they had years ago, before she gave him that task.
Could Grace be my daughter? he pondered. ‘ seeing that Fabian was lost in thought, she tapped him and asked him if he’s ok, ‘I’m fine he replied, just thinking about something he replied’.
Looking at the time Ella said come on it time to picks the boys up and you are driving, the boys missed their uncle she said smiling. When they got to the school parking lot, Ella got down first and went inside the school while Fabian parked the car and waited inside the car for Ella and the twins to come out.
Ella walked to the twins classroom and as usual greeted the class teacher as Leo Liam ran to her hugging her tightly.
Ella was still hugging the twins when they suddenly pulled back, and started waving at Ethan who was waiting for Grace to come out of her class. Who are they waving and smiling at? Ella wondered.
