“I, Madeline Clark, rejec…” I started speaking, but Alpha Dimitri stopped me by placing his hand over my mouth. He pulled me closer to him and growled.
“I’m not accepting your rejection, Madeline,” he growled. “You are my mate. You are the greatest gift that the Goddess has ever given me. I am not letting you go.”
My heart was hammering against my rib cage. His scent overwhelmed my senses. He leaned in and rubbed his nose up and down my jaw. My skin was on fire. Every part of my body desired to be touched by him.
“I can’t let you go, my love,” he mumbled. “I’ve waited for you my whole life.”
His lips brushed against the marking spot on my neck, and I almost burst into flames. Convincing him to accept my rejection would be the hardest thing I ever had to do.
Madeline is a 17-year-old girl who still hasn’t shifted into her wolf. Her father abandoned her mother when she was very young. She has been bullied and laughed at all the time. After she lost her mom, the person who loved her the most, Madeline is completely distraught and broken. Her father comes back to take her back to his pack. Madeline is against it, but her financial situation forces her to go with him.
Dimitri is a Lycan wolf, the Alpha of his very successful pack. He is 22 years old, and he still hasn’t found his mate. When Madeline arrives at his pack, he is very surprised to discover that she is his mate. He is also frustrated because she is his stepsister who hasn’t shifted yet. She can’t recognize him as her mate.
Madeline struggles in the new pack. She doesn’t have the best relationship with her stepmother. She can’t wait to turn 18 and leave.
What will happen when Madeline finds out who her mate is? What will Dimitri do after she rejects him? Will he be able to convince her to stay? This is book 2 of the story.
Chapter 51
Dimitri’s POV
I was never happier than at the moment I woke up next to her.
This time was different. This time I was under a blanket with her. She wrapped her arms and legs around me and she was practically lying on top of me.
I chuckled and kissed her forehead.
“Good morning, princess,” I mumbled quietly.
She stirred a little and pressed herself closer to me. I tightened my arms around her and closed my eyes.
“We are going to wake up like this every day from now on,” I mumbled and a small smile spread across my face.
Just the thought of it had my whole body covered in tingles. She was really mine and I would really wake up next to her every damn day for the rest of my life.
She tightened her hold on me and sighed contently. I smiled and opened my eyes. I looked at her and my heart skipped a beat. She was really in my arms. I really survived nine months without her. I survived Savannah’s attempt to take me from her. I survived Seth’s attempts to take her from me. I survived it all and my reward was her.
Dimitri? My mother mind-linked me and I flinched a little.
I was so lost in thought that she surprised me.
What, mother? I mind-linked her back as I buried my nose into Maddie’s hair.
Where are you? She asked. The breakfast is ready.
I will be right there. I said as I started rubbing Maddie’s back gently.
I cut the mind-link with my mom and started placing soft kisses all over Maddie’s face. She furrowed her eyebrows a little and stirred.
“Wake up, princess,” I said as I ran my fingers through her hair. “Breakfast is ready.”
“Five more minutes,” she mumbled sleepily.
I chuckled and placed another kiss on her soft cheek. If it was up to me, I would have stayed in this bed with her the entire day.
We had to get up, though. We had to go talk to our parents. I had to tell the pack that I found their Luna. We had a Luna ceremony to prepare. We had work to do and I would have to wait until tonight to lie with her like this.
“We have work to do, my love,” I said softly as I lowered my head and placed a soft kiss on her neck. “We can go back to bed later.”
Maddie moaned quietly and opened her beautiful eyes. She was staring at me for a few seconds before her eyes widened and she tried to pull away from me.
“Oh, I am so sorry!” she exclaimed and I was so fucking confused.
I tightened my hold on her and pulled her back to me.
“Why are you sorry, princess?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
She looked down at our intertwined bodies and I understood what she meant. I chuckled and she looked back up at me.
“We are mates, Maddie,” I said as I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Our bodies seek each other. It would be weird if we didn’t wake up like this. And trust me, I have no issues with it. If I could find a way to have you even closer to me, I would be the happiest man on this planet.”
She gulped and relaxed a little.
“Did you sleep well?” I asked as I leaned in and kissed her cheek again.
I couldn’t stop doing it. If I could glue my lips to her skin, I would. I couldn’t wait until she allowed me to kiss her lips. I was so fucking jealous of Seth who got to do it before me. Those lips were mine to kiss. Her whole body was mine to kiss and worship.
“I did,” she said softly. “You?”
I smiled and rubbed the tip of my nose against hers.
“The best sleep of my life, princess,” I said.
She bit her lower lip and I grunted quietly. I wanted to do that too. I wanted to bite it gently. I wanted to kiss it. I wanted to taste it.
Fuck.
I gulped and took a deep breath. I smiled at her and pulled her even closer to me.
“We have to get up, princess,” I said. “We have to go tell our parents that we are mates.”
Her eyes widened and she suddenly became nervous.
“Don’t be nervous, love,” I said softly. “We will do it together and they will be thrilled.”
I smiled and reluctantly moved my arms so she could sit up.
“Go to the bathroom first,” I told her. “I will get dressed here.”
She gave me a small nod and moved away from me. I was instantly cold and I wanted her back. I watched her get up and walk to the bathroom. I waited until she closed the door to get up and fix my wrinkly clothes. I was so hot during the night, but I didn’t want to take my clothes off. I didn’t want to make Maddie uncomfortable.
I sat on the bed and put my shoes on.
Will? I mind-linked my Beta as I waited for Maddie to come out of the bathroom.
How did it go? He responded immediately.
I will tell you everything a little bit later. I said. Maddie and I are having breakfast. We will come to the packhouse later. Inform the pack that I will be holding a meeting today.
Of course. Will said. You will tell them about Maddie?
Yes. I said. She is their Luna and everyone needs to know.
I am so excited. Will said. Everything will be ready when you come.
Thank you. I said just as Maddie walked out of the bathroom.
I could tell by the look on her face that she was very nervous. I stood up and approached her. I cupped her cheeks and smiled.
“Don’t be nervous, princess,” I said softly. “Everything will go perfectly.”
Maddie gave me a small nod and I kissed her forehead.
“Come on, love,” I said as I took her hand in mine. “Let’s go tell them.”
Maddie looked at her hand in mine and took a deep breath. I lifted her hand and kissed it. I just couldn’t stop. I couldn’t stop feeling her skin against my lips. I really wanted to just glue myself to her and never leave.
I opened her bedroom door and we started walking downstairs together. I had a huge smile on my face and nothing could wipe it away.
I finally got to tell everyone that Maddie was mine!
