Chapter 54
DIANE’S P. O. V
I smirked as I watched the shock on her face at my request. I knew exactly how to manipulate her, as I had always been suspicious of her.
Finding the moon-shaped necklace in her possession confirmed my suspicions. I had seen the same necklace on five other people and couldn’t shake the feeling that it was more than just a mere coincidence.
I hope she answers me sincerely and honestly so that we can join forces and bring Derek down. But I doubt that will ever happen because I know she’s madly in love with that monster.
If only she knew how evil he is. If only she could see through his handsome face. If only she could see what a manipulative person he is.
You’re talking nonsense,” Joanna laughed, shaking her head. I maintained my serious expression and stared back at her.
“I’m serious. I don’t want your money, I just need answers,” I retorted, rolling my eyes.
Joanna started pacing around the room, running her fingers through her red hair. I’m curious about why she dyed her hair red, as it has changed her appearance but she still looks beautiful.
I am intrigued by her hidden identity. I have instructed my men to uncover information about her, but they have returned with nothing useful. No one knows her nationality or her parentage. I sense that she is concealing her identity for a reason known only to her.
Get out of my room,” she ordered, pointing to the door with a stern look on her face.
Before leaving, I added, “And while I’m at it, call Idris to dress him up. From now on, he’s your responsibility. I’m done with both of you.” I walked away, pretending to be angry, hoping she would call me back.
As I reached the door, I hoped she would stop me before I left the room, and there was a moment of silence between us.
But just as I reached for the doorknob, her voice called out, “Diane, wait!” and stopped me from opening the door. I couldn’t help but smile.
“I don’t need your answers anymore. You can keep them. Let me go and bring your boy to you,” I said, feigning anger as I attempted to walk away.
“Diane, I’m begging you, please don’t bring him here,” she pleaded, joining her palms together as she weakly slumped on her bed and buried her face in her palm.
I changed direction and started walking back to her. I couldn’t help but notice the change in her since she returned to the mansion. She appeared sober and weak, despite trying to show strength. It was clear that she was suffering inside. Her eyes were also puffy and red, but that was none of my business.
“About the necklace around your neck. How did you get it?” I inquired, settling onto the couch in her room and crossing my legs as I questioned her.
She slowly lowered her hand from her face, revealing something wet on her cheek that she quickly wiped away before turning to face me. Letting out a soft sigh, she said, “I’ll only answer your questions honestly if you promise to satisfy my curiosity by answering mine as well.” Standing up, she walked over to the window.
She appears naive, but she is actually very smart and cannot be easily manipulated. Instead, she turned the tables on the situation.
I heard her softly chuckle, “We both know how valuable my information is to you. I know Diane always seeks what benefits her.” She turned and smiled at me.
This woman knew exactly what I was thinking. She knew exactly what I was thinking, leaving me speechless because I had underestimated her.
“Deal?” She asked, turning her back on me once more.
My shoulder slumped in defeat, “Yes, deal!” I rolled my eyes, and she instantly turned to face me again.
She sighed softly before speaking, “It was given to me by my father when I was ten years old.” She replied, tugging her hand into the neck of her gown and pulling out the moon-shaped necklace from her neck to hand it over to me.
I swiftly retrieved the one I had been concealing in my thigh for a while and attempted to compare them.
They appeared similar but completely different. I could clearly remember Becca telling me how she customized the moon-shaped necklace after seeing it on the internet and falling in love with it. It’s so unfortunate that this same necklace ultimately led to her death.
“What about your father? What’s his name?” I inquired, finally tearing my eyes away from the necklace and lifting them to her.
Suddenly, she changed direction. “I’ve had enough of the questions. I need to be somewhere right now,” she said hurriedly, and quickly walked to her bed, stuffing the clothes that were on it into a small, stylish bag.
“Don’t forget our agreement. I still have more questions,” I shouted, getting up and standing behind her.
“I have to go to Mob Bobby’s Mansion right now,” she said as she walked past me towards the door.
“You’re asking for trouble. That man is dangerous,” I warned, stepping closer to her. “You don’t have a death wish, or do you?” I added, but she just laughed and walked away.
Shaking my head, I looked at the two necklaces in my hand and left her room. She would come back and find me in this mansion eventually.
MONALISA’S P. O. V
I hurried down the stairs with my small bag of clothes, trying to avoid being seen by Idris. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I saw Derek sitting with his legs crossed, sipping a glass of red wine. He seemed lost in thought and didn’t notice me at first.
I cleared my throat loudly to get his attention, and he turned to look at me briefly before looking away, pretending I wasn’t there.
“Derek, I’m ready to go,” I told him, looking around but not seeing Doven anywhere. I wondered where he had gone.
He didn’t say anything to me as he poured himself more wine, ignoring me. I attempted to approach him.
“Joanna, where are you going with your bag?” Doven’s voice interrupted me, and I turned to see him coming from the main door towards us.
I smiled at him and started to respond, “I—-”
But Derek interrupted, loudly scoffing, “She’s going to see her sugar daddy. I wondered why she only had a mini bag with her instead of her usual luggage.”
Doven burst into laughter but quickly covered his mouth to stifle the sound, stopping when Derek gave him a murderous glare.
“Doven, please drop her off at her sugar daddy’s house. I don’t feel like driving. Make sure she gets there safely,” he said, avoiding my gaze as he stood up and went to his room.
Doven gestured for me to follow him outside, and I quickly did. I never cared if he accompanied me or not.
My phone suddenly rang, causing me to stop and check the caller. It was Micheal. Doven looked at me, curious about why I had stopped walking, but I signaled for him to wait outside, and he did so without complaining. I pressed the answer button and said, “Hello Micheal,” in a calm voice.
“Everything is all ready. Let me know if you require anything else,” he promptly replied.
My lips curled into a smirk, “I need guns. Lots of guns,” I commanded before hanging up.
