Seeing Seraphina covered in blood, Chris said to Juliette, “Juliette, go help Seraphina take a bath and then dress her wounds.”
“Okay!”
Juliette nodded, helping Seraphina to the bathroom.
Chris furrowed his brow, puzzled about what could have happened to Seraphina to leave her in such a state.
Considering Seraphina’s strength, she was at least a practitioner of the Transcendence realm. Moreover, she was usually accompanied by several dozen members of the Cinder Society, each of formidable ability. It would be difficult for ordinary people to inflict such damage upon her, unless…
Currently, his master was away in a dangerous place. As his master’s disciple, it was his duty to take care of his master’s daughter. Now that Seraphina was in this condition, Chris was determined to find the perpetrator behind this!
Though Seraphina was seriously injured, fortunately, her life was not in danger. She just needed some good rest and should be able to wake up soon.
The next day.
Seraphina opened her eyes, looking around warily.
“This is…”
Recognizing the familiar surroundings, she immediately knew she was in Cloud Bay on the East Coast. Recalling the previous events, Seraphina still felt some lingering fear.
In the kingdom of Babylon, dozens of Cinder Society members by her side were killed by the people from the Hall of Valerian. Although she managed to escape, she was still pursued by Dark Sin and others.
Eventually, with no escape left, Seraphina had no choice but to jump off a hundred-meter cliff. Fortunately, there was a river below, and she survived the fall.
Afterward, Seraphina luckily escaped and caught a flight to the East Coast. Upon arrival, she immediately sought refuge at Cloud Bay. However, due to her severe injuries, she fainted in the villa’s living room.
“You’re awake!”
While Seraphina was lost in her thoughts, Chris came in carrying breakfast.
“Mr. Shelby, was it you who saved me?”
asked Seraphina.
Chris nodded and said, “Yes! You fainted in the living room last night, so I took care of you. Now, no more talking, hurry up and eat!”
With that, Chris brought the breakfast over.
During this time, Seraphina had been living rough.
Seeing the hearty breakfast, she began to eat eagerly. In no time, she had finished everything on her plate.
“Mr. Shelby, thank you! I must leave now, I need to report back to Master William in Middleton,” she said, preparing to get up from the bed.
“Ah!”
Suddenly, she touched her wound and couldn’t help but cry out in pain.
Chris rolled his eyes and said nonchalantly, “You’d better stay put! I’ll take a leave of absence for you from Master William. You can go back when you’re better.”
Seraphina sighed, “Alright.”
Given her current condition, Seraphina indeed had no way to return to Middleton and had to stay with Chris for the time being.
Chris looked at Seraphina and asked, “Who did this to you?”
Seraphina gritted her teeth and said, “It was the people from the Hall of Valerian!”
“Do you mean Ironheart Steer?”
Chris asked, startled.
Hearing this, Chris was shocked. He had guessed that it might be Ironheart Steer and his followers, and it turned out to be true.
“Yes!”
Seraphina said bitterly, “After we separated that day, I led the Cinder Society members to return home, but on the way, we were ambushed by Ironheart Steer leading practitioners from the Hall of Valerian.”
“We were outnumbered, and eventually, all of the Cinder Society members perished, leaving only me to escape. But Ironheart Steer didn’t intend to let me go and sent Dark Sin and others to hunt me down. I was no match for Dark Sin, and in the end, I jumped off the cliff…”
Seraphina recounted the events that had transpired. After hearing her account, Chris’s face was filled with anger.
“This Ironheart Steer is truly bold; it seems a mistake not to have killed him!”
Chris immediately guessed why Ironheart Steer had captured Seraphina. Ironheart Steer must have wanted to capture Seraphina to then use her to threaten him. Since Seraphina was his master’s daughter, Chris could not stand by and do nothing.
It had to be admitted, Ironheart Steer had indeed devised a clever plan. Unfortunately for him, Seraphina was not so easy to handle, and she had ultimately escaped from the Kingdom of Babylon all the way to the East Coast.
“Seraphina, rest well here; no one can hurt you as long as I’m here,” he assured her.
“Mm!”
she responded.
“I’m going out to buy some things. I’ve arranged for the Guards of Death to protect you around the clock outside the villa, so don’t worry!”
With that, Chris left the villa. He planned to buy some medicines for Seraphina. Although she was not in any life-threatening danger, she still had some superficial injuries. As Chris stepped out of the villa, he suddenly stopped. In that moment, a terrifying murderous aura burst forth from him.
Not far ahead, a figure stood engulfed in an aura of deadly intent. It was none other than Lord Valerian! Lord Valerian looked up at Chris and said indifferently, “Chris, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time; today you finally showed up!”
Previously, Chris had been away and not in the East Coast. However, Lord Valerian had been patient, waiting outside the villa. As soon as Chris emerged, he was ready to strike. Chris stared coldly at Lord Valerian and said, “I know who you are-you’re the former Primus, Lord Valerian. Lord Valerian, we have no personal grievances; why do you want to kill me?”
“Ha ha ha!”
Lord Valerian laughed dismissively.
“Chris, your master, Archer Wintersong, personally captured me and sent me to Obsidian Citadel. You are Archer Wintersong’s disciple, and now that Archer Wintersong is gone, I naturally have to settle the score with you.”
“No!”
Chris shook his head and said, “My master had more than one disciple; Master William is also his disciple. Why don’t you assassinate Master William at the palace? Obviously, someone is directing you from behind. Am I right?”
“Hmph!”
Lord Valerian snorted coldly.
“Chris, I don’t have time to waste words with you. After I kill you, you can ask for clarity in the underworld!”
“Kill!”
With no further words, Lord Valerian roared and charged towards Chris. Lord Valerian moved incredibly fast, like a bolt of lightning. Seeing this, Chris’s expression became extremely serious. In the next second, a tremendous force burst forth from Chris’s body. Boom! Boom! Boom! Without any further words, the two engaged in fierce battle. The strength of Chris and Lord Valerian was nearly equal; killing each other was not going to be easy.
“Lord Valerian, we were once Primuses dedicated to protecting our nation; must you really fight to the death with me?”
“If you turn back from the edge in time, I will ask Master William to absolve you of your past crimes!”
“Lord Valerian, do not continue to err! If you persist in your delusion, only destruction awaits you!”
