These words were a bolt from the blue for Ansel, who had been waiting outside the door for four hours without having dinner. He had bought jewelry for her with great joy, only for her to tell him that she had someone she liked.
Ansel was in a daze for a long time, his face pale as he looked at her in disbelief and then painfully asked, “Who is it?”
Agnes looked into his eyes and felt that his emotions were on the verge of collapse. Kind-hearted as she was, she hesitated but still spoke, “Who it is doesn’t matter. What matters is that he has taken over my entire heart, leaving no room for anyone else.”
Ansel stared into her eyes, trying to discern if she was lying. But Agnes’s expression was unusually firm, making it hard for Ansel, who had been secretly in love with her for a long time, to accept. What she said could very well be true.
Seeing the deep sadness and longing in his eyes, Agnes bowed apologetically, “I’m sorry.” At this moment, she didn’t know what else to say to him.
Slowly, Ansel released her arms. His eyes reddened, tears welling up but refusing to fall because he was a man. He couldn’t cry easily! But he was deeply hurt; his heart felt like it was being torn apart and bleeding.
Outside the window, the rain poured down harder and harder… thunder and lightning filled the sky. It seemed to enhance the atmosphere of this sad night.
Ansel took step after step backward, shaking his head in disbelief. How could the girl he loved so deeply have someone else in her heart? “Agnes, you will regret this!” Ansel’s heart shattered completely at that moment. His gaze turned from one full of love to one filled with resentment! Even a surge of anger churned within him! But he didn’t want to vent in front of her; he restrained himself.
Agnes’s mind was also in a fog, her heart filled with mixed emotions. “I’m sorry, Ansel. You will find someone better.”
Until Ansel reached the door, “Shut up!” He stormed out, and as he did, Agnes snapped back to reality. “Take an umbrella!!” But he ignored her and quickly disappeared from her sight.
Agnes stared at the slammed door for a long time, standing stiffly with deep dejection in her heart. After a while, she buried her face deeply in her knees as she squatted down in pain.
Thunder rumbled through the sky; lightning flashed like giant dragons near and far as if they were about to swallow the world. The heavy rain began pouring down, with the sound of raindrops hitting the windows all around.
Since Ansel left, it took Agnes a long time to recover. The gold jewelry he bought with his bonus still lay on the coffee table. Sigh!
While taking a shower, her mind was filled with thoughts about relationships. The trouble Ansel caused her was probably similar to what she caused Mr. Cat? So her feelings for Ansel were exactly like Mr. Cat’s feelings for her.
After sending so many emails without any response, how annoying must she be? At this moment, perhaps she finally woke up; she really shouldn’t disturb him anymore and was glad she held back these past days.
After finishing her shower, Agnes found that the rain hadn’t stopped yet, but she wasn’t sleepy at all. She stared blankly out of the window, feeling somewhat lost.
She spent some time with Bubu the cat and fed it cat food. When reminiscing about things through objects associated with people or pets, it always made one especially sad.
Then she took Bubu to her desk. On such a rainy night, she felt infinitely sad inside. Turning on her computer, Agnes started drawing comics again; perhaps immersing herself in another world would make her feel less suffocated.
Pouring all her emotions into the story, she wanted to record these seven or eight years of youth and this heavy love in this way. She wouldn’t forget him; even if they each started their own families in the future, this would still be her most precious memory.
She didn’t know how much time had passed when her phone rang. The ringtone pulled her thoughts back from the story as Agnes picked up the phone and saw who was calling with some confusion before quickly answering it-
