VIKTOR.
“Do you want me to come with you?” Rowan asks as she sits up in bed.
“Do you want to come?” I return as I tug in my shirt.
“Not particularly,” she replies. “Seeing those wolves and then him in one night is more than I can handle but-”
“But nothing,” I say as I lean over and give her a short peck. “I can handle the asshole on my own. You go to bed.”
“Are you sure?” She asks before a yawn escapes her mouth, making me smile.
“I am sure. Go to bed.”
I gently push her down to the end before tucking her in. I give her another peck before I leave the room.
Once out of her sight, my face falls into the dark scowl that I have been fighting off.
It is beyond irritating, how many times the fucker has been to my pack in this past week.
It has to stop.
Now.
“Where is he?” I demand as I walk out of the mansion, Kael, my third in command falling into place beside me.
“We didn’t let him in. He is still raging at the gates with his Beta,” he replies.
“What is he asking for this time?”
“His wolves.”
Shit.
That was fast.
I mean, I knew he was going to figure out that they were here, I just didn’t think it would be this quick.
Well, no time like the present to deal with the trash.
We make quick work of the walk to the gate where I can hear the lunatic braying like a donkey.
And one look at him immediately puts me on high alert.
Something is wrong with him.
Seriously wrong.
His eyes were … wrong.
It had a glassy look to it, and it was also milky.
I watch him for a few seconds as he aggressively pulls at the gate, ignoring how the silver bites into his hands.
He looks… rabid.
Mad.
Not angry mad, but insane mad.
Which meant he was more dangerous than ever.
“One the gate,” I tell Kael.
“What?!” He exclaims as he looks at me. “But… he is-”
“Open it.” uh
He wanted a fight.
So did I.
“VIKTOR!” He snarls as he charges inside. “Where are my wolves?!”
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” I reply, tone bland.
“Don’t lie to me! Don’t fucking ie!”
“Why would I lie to you? You have zero influence on me and I do not fear you. So, why would I lie?”
He doesn’t respond, but the moment the gate swings open, he charges at me.
As I expected he would.
Our fists collide first, a burst of force that echoes through the trees. I feel the sting in my knuckles, but I don’t stop. He swings at my face, and I duck to counter with a punch to his ribs.
He grunts but doesn’t back down.
We circle each other, gauging our next moves. He lunges, aiming for my midsection and I twist just in time, before grabbing his arm and using his momentum to flip him over my shoulder.
He hits the ground hard, but rolls away quickly, avoiding my follow-up kick.
He springs to his feet and rushes at me again and this time, he manages to land a solid punch to my jaw.
Pain explodes in my head, but I push through it, grabbing his arm and delivering a knee to his gut, making him gasp for air, but he still manages to catch my leg, pulling me off balance.
We crash to the ground, wrestling for control. His strength matches mine, and we struggle to gain the upper hand. I feel his claws just beneath his skin, ready to rip through if he shifts.
I can’t let him transform.
He is rabid and if he bites me, that would be a problem.
I use my weight to pin him down, but he twists and flips me over, straddling my chest.
He raises his fist to strike, but I manage to block it, pushing him off me. We scramble to our feet, panting and bleeding. He wipes blood from his mouth, eyes blazing with fury.
We charge at each other once more. I aim for his throat, but he deflects my hand, twisting my arm painfully. I feel something snap, but I bite back the pain, driving my elbow into his face making him stagger and giving me a moment to recover.
I see an opening and tackle him to the ground, my hands around his neck. He thrashes, trying to break free, but I hold tight. His eyes widen with fear, and for a moment, I think I have him. But he bucks wildly, catching me off guard.
He throws me off and I hit the ground hard, gasping for breath. Before I can recover, he is on me, his claws sinking into my side. I roar in agony as he tears into my flesh, but I manage to kick him off, crawling away.
He comes at me again but this time, my claws are out and I swipe at his face, nearly taking his eyes and he roars in agony as he clutches his bloodstained face.
This time, when he charges, we get stuck in a deadlock, both of us in pain, neither of us wanting to give in.
Soneineis going to die here today.
Unfortunately, it is not meant to be
I feel hands tugging at me and a glance above his head shows that his beta is also on him, trying to drag him off.
“Get away!” he roars as he struggles to get out of the grip, while still trying to hold on to me. “Get away from me!”
“Alpha, please,” Kael whispers to me. “Think of your mate.”
Rowan.
Shit.
She is not going to like this.
With a very annoyed growl, I let go of him while using the momentum to push him off me.
“Get him off my territory,” I growl and the elves rush to obey as they all join hands with his beta and cart him outside
With one last disgusted look at his struggling form, I turn and make my way back to the mansion, my hands clutching at the wound with his roars echoing behind me.
I should have killed him
