VIKTOR.
“You did well, Viktor,” Maxwell says as he stops by his car. “This trial has given Dominic the blow that we couldn’t really achieve with the council meeting. This way, the packs would be wary of letting him get close to them.”
“I know but, we can’t claim credit for that,” I tell him as I send a small smile towards Rowan who is by my side. “This opportunity just fell into our laps, all we did was take advantage of it.”
“Hmm, it seems like the goddess is on your side.”
“Seems like it.”
“Well, I will leave you now, do take care.”
“Goodbye.”
“Take care,” Rowan tells him.
He extends a small nod to her before getting into his car.
We both wait until it is out of sight before returning to the mansion
“That is the last of them,” I say with a sigh. “Hopefully, we won’t have any cause to have another meeting anytime soon.”
“Hopefully,” she replies. “I am so tired,” she continues. “All I want to do now is sleep.”
“Me and you, both,” I remark. “Thankfully, it is late and everyone has gone to bed. We can retire.”
“I can’t believe we spent the whole bloody day entertaining guests.”
“Hmm, I know. But you seem to have made a friend. You and Yvette… that is an interesting pairing. What do you think of her? Do you like her?”
“Yeah. I do. She is an interesting woman. Do you know why she hates Dominic?”
“Something about her sister, I think.”
“Yeah. Her sister’s mate was from the obsidian pack and Dominic liked him. She later died from heartbreak. That made her resent him so much.”
“I think it is wonderful how he keeps making our aims easier. All he has to do is piss off a few more and no one would truly care what happens to him,” I tell her.
“You mean they still do?” She asks as we reach my room door and I reach over to push it open
“You saw it yourself. There are people who still think well of him. His minions. We will have to handle that.”
“True… but that is a problem for tomorrow. Now, we sleep.”
“We sleep.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This habit has got to stop.
Knock!
Knock!
Knock!
“Unbelievable,” I mutter.
“I thought you would be used to this by now,” Rowan murmurs from my side, her voice still heavy with sleep
“I am most certainly not and if it is Andre knocking, I swear I am going to kill him.”
“No, you won’t. Now, go see whoever it is before they decide to walk in themselves.”
“Fine,” I grumble as I get out of the bed and make my way to the door, still grumbling all the way
“What?!” I snarl at -surprise surprise – Andre. “What do you want now?!”
“We have a situation,” he says
“Why do you always do this?”
“I swear it is not intentional.”
“Ugh,” I groan as I close the door in his face and walk back to the bed, reaching for the clothes in the chair next to it.
“Who was it?” Rowan asks from the bed
“You were right,” I mutter. “It was Andre.”
She chuckles lightly before asking. “What did he want?”
“I don’t know yet. We will discuss it in the study.”
“Do you want me to come with you?”
“Nah. You continue your sleep. If it is urgent, I will let you know.”
“Hmm, okay,” she says seconds before her eyes drift shut.
A fast glance at the clock tells me it is just past two.
I going to fucking kill Andre
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“For your sake, this better be urgent,” I tell him as I walk into the study. “As in, life on the line, kind of urgent.”
“Well, I don’t know about that but it is urgent.”
“Spit out already! What is it?!”
“You know how we had sent out wolves to ensure that Dominic didn’t cause any trouble on his way back?” He asks
“Yes?”
“Well, they went the extra mile and tracked him to his pack. Just to make sure that he went there straight. So, they had to remain around his territory to get their rest.”
“Stop with the suspense and just tell me what happened?”
“Okay, so get this. We just got a report from them saying that wolves are fleeing the pack. In droves.”
“The Obsidian pack?”
“Yes.”
“Wolves are fleeing his pack?”
“Yep. And not just some wolves. Hundreds of them. Leaving at the same time. And from what they reported, the wolves looked terrified.”
Oh, wow
“Just how badly did Dominic react to the trial?” I murmur.
“From the looks of it, very badly,” he says
“Do you know why they are leaving? It can’t just be because of Tommy. Something else must have happened.”
“As of right now, we have no clue.”
“Well? What are you waiting for? Go find out!”
“Will you relax?”
“Why you-! You woke me up at two in the morning and you are telling me to relax?”
“I mean, we are already on it. We offered some of the wolves asylum and they are on their way already. We will soon find out what happened?”
“What do you mean you offered them asylum?!” I demand. “To where?”
“Our pack.”
“Andre!”
“It wasn’t me! Take it up with the wolves when they come.
“You are unbelievable,” I mutter as I turn from him. “I don’t know why I chose you for a beta, you insufferable little piece of shi -”
“They are here,” he says
“What?” I ask as I turn to look at him, his eyes facing from a dull gray to his natural color, signaling that he was in mind link conversation
“The wolves,” he says. “They are here.”
“Where here?”
“They are just pulling up to the mansion.”
Great.
Just great.
I get to my feet and stretch before making my way to the door.
“Well, come on then. Let’s go welcome our guests.”
The Luna is dead
