“You are unbelievable!” Sven snaps as he paces in front of me.
“What did you expect him to do?” Fin asks him as he chuckles his annoyance.
“Thank you,” I say to Rowan as she hands me a bag of frozen peas to place in my hand.
After the lunatic had cursed at me and launched his attack, almost catching me by surprise, we had a small tussle. And by tussle, I mean I rammed my fist repeatedly into his face until it was barely recognizable and then tossed him out the window.
It was fun
Though, I am pretty sure that my hand would disagree if it could speak.
Unfortunately, Sven is loud enough to get the point across.
Loud and clear.
“It was bad enough that you practically demolished his face, did you have to throw him out the window?” he demanded
“He came at me!” I exclaim. “Was I supposed to. just stand there and let him hit me?”
“One punch would have been enough. You just had to hit him several times.”
“I don’t think he did much damage,” Maxwell retorts as he walks in holding a bottle of whiskey and some glasses. “From the way the others reacted, they felt that Dominic had it coming.”
“And let’s not forget the fact that he had no right attacking Viktor in his own home for that matter,” Rowan sats
“He basically said he killed his wolves!” Sven snaps. “You practically said, ‘oh, by the way, I killed your wolves, no biggie, right?'”
“I did not!”
“Actually, Dominic was the one who first denied the fact that he sent wolves to spy on him,” Maxwell clarifies. “Which is good.”
“How in the blazes is that good?!”
“He lied. In the hearing of all the alphas present. It doesn’t matter if Viktor killed his wolves, they were spying on his pack. An alpha sent spies on another alpha’s territory. That is a bad look for him. Thanks to this, he is firmly in everyone’s black book. One that everyone would be more watchful of.”
“Glad I could be of service,” I say.
“Well, at least it ended on a high note, right?” Fin asks.
“What high note?”
“Nobody was particularly concerned about his well-being. In fact, most of them just went ahead to the dining area for their meals before they left. He is losing prestige. Becoming a joke. Whatever plan or momentum he had gathered, has fallen to pieces with the stunt he pulled.”
“Why did he go after you anyway?” Rowan asks.
“He was going to use you to antagonize me,” I tell her
“Huh?”
“He sadists brought up how I had made the unusual choice of opening my pack up for the meeting and then brought up the fact that I was with you for a good while. My guess is that he was going to say that there was some amorous relationship going on between us and I couldn’t let that happen. I am not exactly confident about my temper or control when it comes to you.”
“So, you antagonized him first, smart plan,” she says with a smile. “Thank you.”
“You are very welcome,” I reply with a smile.
“Oh!” Sven exclaims with a glare as he begins moving. “You two are hopeless. I am going home!”
“Sven!” I call just before he reaches the door.
“What?!”
“Thank you,” I tell him. “For today, and all your help so far.”
“Hmph!”
Fin and Maxwell chuckle as we all watch him leave too.
“I guess we too should leave,” Maxwell says as he downs his glass and straightens up. “I have to say, this has been quite fun.”
“Yeah, but let’s not do it again any time soon. Like in forever,” Fin says.
“Fingers crossed,” I tell them. “I won’t be able to see you out. I am too tired.”
“Yeah, I will bet,” Fin mutters as he leaves.
“Take care,” Maxwell says and with a wink, he adds, “And have fun.”
“No promises.”

“They are gone,” Rowan says as she leans to rest on my arm.
“I know. I can finally hear myself think.”
“To think that I was so tightly wound up when I thought about seeing him again.”
“What were you expecting?” I ask.
“Desoure how much I hated him and how much I was sure that I could take him in, I couldn’t help but feel that in my mind, he was still this scary, terrifying larger than life person.”
“And now?”
“Now, he is just disappointing. Now, I see him for what he actually is. An overgrown manchild that wants to force the world to follow his views. Someone so out of touch with reality, he just looks like a pathetic fool. A pathetic fool with too much power.”
“Hmm? That sounds like the seed of a plan,” I observe.
“I want to destroy him,” she states, her tone firm and casual, almost like she is talking about the weather.
“I thought you wanted to just kill him.”
“Hmm, I did. But that would be too easy and I doubt he would actually understand what is happening. You see, I want to break him. Shatter his world as he knows it. Take everything he holds dear and turn it into rubble. I want to break his mind, his soul, his very heart if he ha one and when he is completely desolate and destroyed, only then will I consider taking his life. As a mercy.”
Damn.
That went dark quite fast.
It is sexy.
“You know I would give you anything you want me, it just so happens that my desires align with yours,” I tell her.
“You will help me?” she asks with a little surprise.
Frankly, it is upsetting.
“Of course, I will. I hate him almost as much as you do and I am actually quite interested in his downfall. But…”
“But what?”
“We have just dealt him a blow, one that will leave him spiraling for a while. Maybe, just for a little while, we can focus on ourselves,” I whisper.
“Hmm, I guess. What exactly do you have in mind?” She asks.
I lean closer to her with a smile on my lips before answering.
“I have a few ideas,” I say before taking her lips with mine.
