Chapter 91
Klaus paced around the room angrily as he tried to process the information he had just heard.
In the next minute, he picked up the drinking glass that Eva was using to drink wine and flung it across the room in anger while Eva jerked from the sudden collision of the glass with the wall.
She just sat there on the couch, her head down as she cowered away from this angry version of him as she pulled on the roots of her hair in frustration.
Why he was angry was what she did not understand. Elena was the enemy after all.
“I still don’t understand why you are angry. I just…” She stopped talking when Klaus turned his blazing eyes in her direction.
“You don’t understand? I thought we were working together, Eva? Why, then, will you take such a rash step and make such a decision without informing me first?” He queried with eyes blazed in anger.
” Why will you put a bomb in the car and kill her? She had use, great use, and potential in bringing out plans to success.” Klaus told her and she furrowed her brows.
” How?”
“We would’ve used Elena to lure Angelo and get the information we need but now you’ve blown the plan. She was the only one that would’ve made Angelo release that information to us.” Klaus queried.
” You didn’t tell me about that earlier,” Eva murmured, and just when Klaus was about to snap at her, one of his men came in and whispered in his ear as he glared at Eva.
“Are you sure of what you are telling me?” He asked the guy, and he nodded firmly, smiling. Klaus sighed in relief.
” That was so close. Thank you. You can leave us.” He told the man who bowed and left while he slumped into the nearest couch.
“What’s the new update?” Eva asked and he rolled his eyes at her.
“Luck is by your side. A very serious one.” He scoffed at her.
“How do you mean?” She asked furrowing her brows.
” Elena is still alive. She’s not dead. At least not yet.” He said, sighing in relief, and the complete look of confusion on Eva’s face was eminent.
“What? How? She survived the fire?” Eve asked in disbelief and Klaus scoffed.
“Survive the fire indeed! She wasn’t the one in the car. That was a fake Elena sent to trick Angelo.” Klaus responded and Eva’s mouth rounded in a ohhh.
“That was close then. Very close. So, where is Elena now?” She asked, and Klaus stared at her silently, making her laugh.
“Don’t worry, I won’t try to kill her. At least not now.” She laughed.
“She’s being held captive by one of Dominic’s enemies.” He explained and she nodded.
“Makes sense now.”
“Listen Eva. This is an opportunity to reverse our wrong, don’t make such a rash decision again without informing me first.” Klaus queried and she nodded with her hands raised in surrender.
“Yes, boss.” She mocked and he scoffed at her.
“I’m not your boss like you said before. This is a partnership and for it to work, we have to work together as a team if we want to succeed.”
” I totally get that and I promise to inform you whenever.” She agreed and Klaus sighed in relief but was still looking at her suspiciously.
” What?” She asked and laughed. ” Trust me!”

Angelo, on the other hand, storms into his house in anger. He was furious and kept throwing anything he could find at his men.
“Why are you all incompetent? It’s been hours and yet none of you can find who took away my Elena. Who bombed that car? What sort of incompetency is this, after all the years I’ve trained you all?” He growled in anger at all of them.
” We are sorry, boss.” They all responded.
” Listen, I’m giving you all twenty-four hours. Twenty-four hours to find the culprit. If not, I promise to make y’all regret for the rest of your lives.” He threatened and then turned to see one of the guards who had held him back when he wanted to run towards the car that was burning.
“And you!” He pointed and threw the glass flower vase. His hand reached at the guy, hitting his forehead as the guy did not move from his prison, and blood began to gush from it.
“You only know how to hold someone back but you can’t find the culprit? Twenty-four hours, and it’s over for all of you. Get the hell out of my sight and begin work!” He growled at them and they all scurried out.
Angelo was heartbroken and torn. It was the first time he was losing someone so dear to him, and he vowed that when he got a hold of the person who bombed his car, he would make me pay with their blood, including that of their family members, for the rest of their lives.
He had spent the previous night in the hospital watching the burnt and lifeless body of Elena as she lay there lifeless. He had cried and begged her to come back to him but there was no way out. His hurt and pain soon turned to pent-up anger, which was exactly what he was feeling this morning.
After his men left, he remembers Dominic,
“Summon Dominic for me.” He ordered no one in particular, and Dominic, who was already at the door, thinking of a way to enter in, braced himself for the drama that was to unfold as he walked into the room immediately.
He comes in to meet Angelo with a gun pointed at him.
“What’s the story behind Elena’s death? You know something I don’t and I can see it in your eyes. I should’ve seen it earlier but I was too blind. Spill before I pull the trigger.” Angelo threatened and Dominic raised his hands in surrender.
It was the second time someone was pointing a gun at him in one evening and he was already fed up with it.
“Boss, please, can you please call done and put down the pistol while I speak, so you won’t pull the trigger mistakenly,” Dominic asked in a calm voice with his hands raised, but Angelo raised them higher.
“Start speaking if not, I’ll pull the trigger before you even think of it.” Angelo threatened, and he nodded.
He was right when he said Angelo was not in the right frame of his mind.
“Okay! Okay! I’ll talk.”
“So, the Elena that died in the fire is not your Elena. That was a fake brought in by Theo.”
” And who the hell is Theo?” Angelo asked.
” The guy who took Elena the first time because she killed his brother. His brother is the one who tried to rape her.”
” You told me you paid him handsomely for it and he would not disturb her again,” Angelo affirmed as he dropped his gun and began to walk closer to Dominic.
” I did. I did just that, not only with money but with the drive. He said that was what he needed to let her go for life and I gave it to him.” Dominic explained and Angelo scoffed in disbelief.
Before Dominic could realize what was going on, Angelo grabbed his collar and dragged him close to his face level.
“And why am I just hearing this now? ” He growled.
“I had suspicions then. I wasn’t sure and didn’t want to relay any false information so I waited to confirm it. Theo is holding Elena captive. She is still alive, but he threatened to kill her under twenty-four hours if you didn’t show up.” Dominic said, and before he could think about any other thing, Angelo’s punch came up to his nose in the next second, sending him flying back to the wall and then to the floor, grunting.
“He wants you to come alone, boss,” Dominic said as he remained on the floor nursing his broken nose.
“Get out!” He growled and some men came in to help Dominic up and out of Angelo’s room.
Angelo knew fully well that this was a real setup by Theo, but that was the least of his worries. Elena was his priority and he had to save her.
If it was true that she was still alive and with Theo then he had to go see for himself and bring her back. As much as he was happy that he had another chance with her, he knew that the drive Dominic had given out to Theo was just another bomb waiting to explode, especially when it was in their enemy’s camp.
This was a trap but Angelo didn’t mind. If he did not save Elena, the people who had tried to bomb her would get this information soon and try to kill her again. He couldn’t risk that, not after the universe had given him another chance to redeem the love of his life.
And so, he left without any plan which was very much unlike him. He took only four fully loaded guns, tucking them in his pants, and then drove off to the enemy’s camp.
