CHAPTER 65
Angelo sat in the passenger seat of the car and heard his phone ring. It sounded as vicious as the caller and he gave it an angry look before picking up his phone.
Who was calling him in such a tense moment when he was still trying to put his head together on all the things that had gone wrong.
“Where is my daughter?”
That was the first question that resounded in Angelo’s ears when he picked up the call.
He had not looked at the call screen before picking it up and now he knew he had made a huge mistake.
“Angelo! I’m talking to you. Where is my daughter?”
Don Massimo’s voice drained out every thought he had and he became blank.
This was the one person he had not want to speak with. Not now! Not when he was still not sure where his daughter was. And now he had no answer to his question.
News indeed travelled fast as he had not informed Don Massimo of his missing daughter yet and he had not expected the news to get to him.
But unfortunately, here he was stammering and looking for an answer for him while trying to ring Dominic on a different phone all at the same time.
If only the incompetent fool would pick up his call. But unfortunately, it keep going back to voice mail.
“Boss! Your daughter is safe. I’m very sure of that. Those who took her would not dare touch her because they know what is at stake.”
Angelo tried to explain while buying time for himself. Meanwhile, what the hell was Dominic doing that he couldn’t even pick a simple call and his location was lost as well to his men.
” That is not what I’m asking you, Angelo. I won’t ask again. Where the hell did they take my daughter to?” He growled into the phone, making Angelo shift it a bit away from his ears to prevent the sound penetrating into his ear drums.
“I have a lead boss. And I’m currently heading there with my men. We will find Eva and bring her back to you, Don. Trust us on this one.” Angelo promised, trying to make his voice calm and certain, to assure Don Massimo that he was in control of the situation. He hoped he would buy into his confidence and remained calm while he tried to figure things out.
“Angelo!” Don Massimo called in a calm voice. But underneath, Angelo could still hear the faint sound of anger and him being furious.
Angelo sighed in relief when he heard Don Massimons voice reduce and become calm.
“Yes boss!”
“Angelo! And I will not call you again. If anything happens to my daughter.”
He threatened in a low and calculated tone and Angelo knew that tone so well. He would be in trouble if Eva was not found.
” If anything happens to my daughter, Angelo. You and your men and all that bears your name will be lost in a twinkle of an eye.”
Don Massimo threatened and Angelo nodded.
“Yes boss. I understand.”
He was sweating now. Trying his best to look calm as he was conscious of the fact that his driver was watching him through the front mirror.
“Meanwhile, just to be sure. I’ll send in more men to go with you.” Don Massimo finalised.
” Thank you, boss.”
Angelo muttered in a calm voice.
” You can’t fail me, Angelo. You cannot come back without Eva.” Don Massimo said in a finalizing tone and the call was hung up.
Even when Angelo said his final “Understood boss.” He realized that the call had already been hung up before he sighed in relief.
Angelo had to think fast. He should’ve been the one going to see Eva since he sent Dominic to Elena. But now, Dominic was no where to be found as well as unreachable and Don Massimo had already threatened all that he owned.
At this rate, he didn’t need anyone to tell him that he needed to change course and head to the hospital in Dominic’s stead to see Elena. He had to go to Elena now and find a substitute to go to Eva on his behalf.
He had to make a few calls.
“Hello Doc.” He spoke into the phone when the person on the other end picked on the first ring.
“Hello Angelo. You sound worried, is there something I could do to help you?” The doctor asked and he nodded.
” Yes! yes doc. I need you at home. In my home. I’ll be bringing a patient out of a hospital and I need a doctor to ckntinue her treatment her at home.”
” That’s an urgent one. I’ll be at your house in the next one hour. Let me put a few things together.” The doctor said in response and Angelo sighed in relief. He had always trusted this doctor to be available at all times.
” Okay, doc. See you at home.” He said in a stoic tone that did not depict his relief before he hung up.
The hospital was no longer safe for Elena and to keep his heart at peace, he would bring her to his house where he was sure no one would be able to penetrate into.
In the next minute, Angelo was making another call.
“Lead the team protecting the east pavilion to Klaus Lair and get Eva out of there. I would’ve loved to go there on my own but matters are beyond me which is why I’m entrusting this in your care. Make sure Eva is out of there without as much as a single scratch on her.”
” Yes boss.”
” Fix in guards from the other pavilion to cover up the eat where you’ll be taking men from.”
“Yes boss.”
“And call me if anything goes wrong.” He ordered and hung the call.
Now, he could breathe and go to the hospital to bring Elena home, knowing fully well that Eva would be taken care of.
He turned and saw his driver staring at him from the front mirror again and before the innocent man could say a single word, he had snapped at him.
“Can’t this car go any faster? Hit on those damn breaks and get me to the hospital, Mr man!” He growled at him and his face immediately turned back to the road.
“Yes boss.”
Just when Angelo had thought that his problems were over and he had everything under control, he got to the hospital and he saw Don Massimo and his entourage at the entrance.
Waiting for him.
