CHAPTER 56
Eva took a deep breath, clenched her fists, and said, “I will do anything you want, but you have to give me your word that you will let me go. I am not the one you want. It’s her, right? You can have her, and I can do whatever you want me to do. You just have to let me go. Besides, I am pretty sure you do not want to include my father in this. This is already out of line.”
Klaus blinked, smirking as he stared at her incredulously.
“You must have some guts to sprout these in front of me. Why would you think I would agree to whatever nonsense comes out of your mouth? Huh?”
” You think because you are the princess of Don Massimo, you suddenly have the effrontery to look me in the eye and spout such nonsense? What the hell do you take me for? A fool?”
She shook her head, “No. Definitely not. But I can give you something you so desire.”
Her cheeks were high and her voice was almost in a whisper, as she spoke.
Klaus’ eyes darkened at her words, and he frowned, yet again.
He placed an arm on his knees, and leaned forward, staring into her eyes.
“And what is it you think I want, Eva? Aside from wanting something desperately insert a bullet into your skull and that of Angelo’s girl. What do you think I desire that would make me forget my priorities?”
Deep down, he knew what she was referring to. But she would be damned if he would rekindle what had happened in the past.
He would be damned!
In the meantime, his sole focus was his mission, and nothing was stopping him from achieving it.
“Angela,” Eva suddenly said and Klaus frowned.
He didn’t say a word, only stared at her quietly. His lips pursed and his eyes darkened for a while, wanting to believe she hadn’t just said that.
Eva saw the look in his eyes and she smiled inwardly. This was her battle axe. And she would wield it as she so pleases.
Besides, she was damn confident that Klaus would definitely succumb.
“Angela,” She repeated, standing her ground, and staring at him in the eyes.
Klaus glanced at the sides, and grabbed the bottle of wine, pouring himself some in a glass.
He was acting like he hadn’t heard her, and this made Eva bite her lips in frustration.
She glared at him but assumed maybe he hadn’t heard or understood what she was trying to say. She let in a deep breath and made to speak again.
“I…”
“I heard you the first time, Princess,” Klaus cut her off, as he took a sip of his wine.
“Angela. You mentioned Angela. And I’m curious to know what she’d got to do with this issue.”
Truthfully, at the mention of Angela’s name, Klaus felt a surge of rage envelope him.
“I know just who she was. To Angelo…” She paused for a moment, “And you.”
His eyes flashed at hers, “Are you gonna beat around the bush or you go straight to the point!?”
Klaus glanced at his watch and cursed lowly, “What the fuck is taking them so long to bring that bitch?”
“I know about you both, you know?” Eva spoke. She didn’t want to be ignored as it seemed he was trying to do just that.
But Klaus froze at that, but for a moment. He stared at her with a calm expression.
Eva raised her chin, glad that her words were producing the desired effect, “I know you both had something going on, while she was with Angelo.”
“I know everything. The ones you do as well as the ones you do not have an idea about.”
Something flickered in Klaus’ eyes. What was this bitch trying to say? He wondered.
“Where is she?” He suddenly asked, curious.
Ever since the game Angela pulled on him the last time, he had been having a hard time setting his eyes on her.
He had been so pissed and on edge that he wanted to rip her fucking head off for what she did to his shipment.
His eyes narrowed as he stared at Eva. What does she mean, she knows what he doesn’t know.
“You are still not speaking, Princess. How and what does this have to do with you wanting to help me in this case? Are you becoming delusional already?”
But Eva smiled. She gave him a one-sided smile which caused his brows to crease in confusion.
Suddenly, he was up and by her side. His hands clutched at her neck so tightly, as his eyes flashed dangerously.
“Are you going to speak or do you want me to force the words out of your fucking throat!? Huh?”
Again, she was choking. Her eyes were wide, as they glazed over.
He was getting so impatient and had wanted her to cut to the chase already, but she seemed to be taking her sweet time.
“Your… your…”
“You ready to speak now!?” He yelled at her.
She nodded frantically, and he eventually freed her neck in an instant. The motion made her fall to her knees.
“Now, speak Princess. I do not have all day.” He went back to sit on the cushion, grabbing his glass of wine.
He signaled one of his men who stood at the door.
“Go to the garage and check what the hell is taking those bastards so long to bring the girl. I need her here right at this moment.”
The man nodded and left the room.
Eva took a moment to regulate her breathing. She was knelt on the ground, her hair scattered all over her face, as she raised her head.
“You are going to let me go,” she gasped out, ” You.. you are going to let me go, because… because of your child.”
*******
AT THE GARAGE, Angelo’s men stood facing each other as they argued about who would go first with her.
“I’ll be done in no time, and then I can be on the lookout for you,” the driver, Rowan, hissed, in a low voice, “After all you know how it always is with you.”
“Well, it’s not my fault you get off quicker. I should go first, or I’ll go in there and inform the Boss what you are about to do!….”
