Veronica.
I had been staying in my room, trying to come up with the best ways to eliminate Lienna without drawing any attention to myself, but every plan I thought of seemed to have a flaw. Learning she had spent another night with the Shifter Kings and they had even let her spend the night in the playpen had been the last straw for me. She needed to be out of the picture, or else it was only a matter of time before she was appointed as the second mistress and took everything that I’d worked hard for.
I paced back and forth in my room, my mind racing with thoughts of how to get rid of her. But every idea I came up with seemed to end in disaster. I was in the middle of another brainstorming session, my hair disheveled, and my eyes sunken from lack of sleep, when word reached me that King Caspian had gone into a rut.
I paused, staring at the maid who gave the information, her head lowered in respect. “King Caspian has gone into a rut?” I asked, finding the notion completely surprising. It was extremely rare, almost impossible for King Caspian to go into a rut. He was known for his control, his power, and his ability to remain calm in the face of adversity. What triggered it now?
The maid nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yes, milady. The King’s guards and other kings are at a loss for what to do. He’s been locked in his room for hours, and no one can calm him down.” She informed me.
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. I was still wondering what this could possibly mean when a knock came on the door. I turned to it, wondering who it was. The door opened, and a guard walked in, his expression stern.
“You have been summoned to the Dragon King’s wing. Please, prepare yourself and do not keep him waiting,” The guard said, his voice firm, before exiting my chambers.
I turned to the maid who was still with me, my eyes growing wide in surprise. Her shock was mirrored on her face as well, before I broke out of my trance.
“Hurry! Prepare me for the night with the king,” I said, my voice urgent, and she immediately swung into action. She called out to other maids, who trooped into my chambers, and began to wash and clean me for my meeting with the Dragon King.
The maids worked efficiently, their hands moving quickly as they scrubbed and massaged my skin. My hair was brushed till it shone, fragrant oils rubbed into my skin, making it supple and soft. I was clad in a silk see-through dress that hugged all my curves perfectly, accentuating my figure. The dress was a deep red color, one that complemented my skin tone and made me look like a true queen.
All, in all, I looked good. Truly irresistible. A smirk appeared on my lips as I stared at myself in the mirror, checking out myself before I picked out a robe and put it on. The robe was black, with intricate golden designs that sparkled in the light. I looked regal, powerful, and seductive. I was ready to face the Dragon King.
I walked out of my chambers, flanked by my maids as I headed to the Dragon King’s wing. The atmosphere on getting there was stifled, heavy with anticipation and foreboding. It seemed like King Caspian was in a much worse state than I originally anticipated. My heart began to pound in my chest, but I steeled my expression and walked anyway, my heels clicking on the marble floor with a steady rhythm. The guards outside his chambers bowed as I approached, their faces somber and concerned. One of them pushed open the doors, allowing me to enter.
Taking a deep breath, I walked in, my eyes scanning the room with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. And was met with a sight that made my blood run cold. The usually calm, reserved Dragon King was pacing around restlessly, his long hair disheveled, and his broad shoulders taut with tension. There was a thin sheet of sweat on his forehead, and his eyes were wild with unbridled lust and desire. His chest was heaving, his muscles rippling beneath his skin as he moved.
A shudder went up my spine as he fixed his gaze on me, his eyes burning with intensity. I could feel the weight of his stare, like a physical touch that sent shivers down my spine. I immediately lowered my head, giving him a deep curtsy, my heart racing with anticipation. “Good evening, your Majesty. You summoned me,” I said, immensely grateful for how calm my voice sounded despite the tremor running beneath my skin.
“Why are you here?” He growled, his voice harsh and deep, like thunder on a stormy night. I stiffened, raising my head to look at him, my eyes meeting his intense gaze.
“Um… Didn’t you summon me?” I asked, confused, my voice barely above a whisper.
“I never summoned anyone. I don’t need your help. It must have been Hermes,” He growled, his eyes flashing with anger, before pacing around the room once more, growing increasingly restless. His movements were like a caged animal, powerful and unpredictable.
“You know that’s impossible,” I said, trying to make him understand, my voice calm and soothing. “You barely go into rut, your Majesty. The fact that you’re in this one without prior preparation must be devastating for you. I’m here to help,” I said, taking a step forward, my hands extended in a placating gesture.
“Please, let me be of service to you,” I added, my words dripping with sincerity, but my heart racing with excitement. Finally, after weeks of being shunned by them because of that measly human, one of them was in need of me. Who wouldn’t be happy? I was ecstatic to have the Dragon King, especially in this state. It would give me what I so desperately needed.
Caspian paused slightly, seemingly to contemplate my words, his chest heaving with ragged breaths. Eventually, he let out a curt nod, his gaze still wild with desire. With hurried hands, I stripped myself of my clothes, going naked, and then climbed onto his bed, ready to serve him.
“No,” he snapped, directing his gaze to the table. “Go there, instead.”
I raised an eyebrow, surprised by the command, but I didn’t hesitate. I climbed off the bed and walked to the table, my heart pounding with anticipation. Within seconds, he was behind me, pushing my legs apart and pressing his hardened member against my wet, aching core. A startled moan escaped my lips and I threw my head forward, adjusting myself.
Without any preamble, he thrust in, taking me in desperate, ruthless strokes, his frame pressing me tightly against the table. I gasped, shocked at the sensations coursing through me. This was the first time I would have King Caspian being this way with me. Yet, despite the frenzied, brutal ways he was using my body, his body still continued to grow tense, harsher grunts escaping his lips. I don’t even think he was experiencing any pleasure himself.
All of a sudden, he pulled away as if he got burned, an animalistic growl escaping his lips. It was so deep, it sent a shiver down my spine, my heart racing like a wild animal. When I looked at him, I saw his eyes had changed color, growing from his usual grey to gold, a clear indication that he was close to taking his dragon form, his rut getting even worse.
My heart skipped multiple beats, my skin turning cold with fear. This was a very dangerous situation for me. What’s happening?
“I don’t want you. Get out of here,” He snapped, moving even further away from me, his voice low and menacing.
“But…” I began, trying to reason with him, but he cut me off.
“Get out!!!” He yelled, his eyes flashing with rage, his face twisted in a snarl. I jumped from the table, hurriedly wearing my robe as I made to run out of there before he killed me.
“Guards!” He bellowed, and the door flung open, a guard rushing in. “Call Lienna for me,” He said, and I froze in my steps, my heart sinking like a stone.
What?! Lienna again!!? I thought, my mind reeling with shock and anger. Why was he calling for her!?
The guard immediately ran out, but I turned back to him, trying to see if I could change his mind. “You don’t need her, I can satisfy you…” I said, trying to reach for him, my voice husky and seductive. But Caspian’s reaction was immediate and violent.
His movements faster than lightning, I found myself pinned against the wall, a hand wrapped menacingly around my neck. I was choking, my breath caught off as I tried to get away from his grip. His eyes were blazing with fury, his face twisted in a snarl.
“Get out of my sight. You despicable thing,” He snarled, his voice low and deadly, flinging me away like a discarded towel. I picked myself up from the ground, coughing and completely stunned, my throat burning from his grip.
I stumbled out of his chambers, my mind racing with anger and humiliation. How dare he! I thought, my rage burning brighter with every step. If it’s the last thing I do, I need to kill Lienna. And I need to do it fast.
