Adonis.
“Wow…. I can’t believe she held on the entire time only to pass out in the end. What a shame.” Hermes muttered, clicking his teeth as he shook his head. “We were having so much fun together.” He added, pursing his lips as he stared at the unconscious girl on the floor.
I didn’t say anything, just slowly put on my robes as I got ready to leave. The slave girl we had purchased lay sprawled on the ground, her pale skin covered in bruises and cuts, blood and our release coating her thighs, her hair already matted with tear streaks framing her face. All in all, she was a mess. It would be no surprise if she had died already. They always did.
I know I should feel gulit for the amount of pain that we had inflicted on her during the course of the night, but nothing moved in that empty shell I would have called a heart. I didn’t know what that said about me but I honestly couldn’t care. I was done here.
“Call the guards and have them dispose of her body.” I said to Hermes who looked at me, indignation flashing in his eyes. That wasn’t surprising too. Hermes didn’t like to be ordered around. I ignored it however, putting on the last of my robes and getting ready to leave.
“Adonis, wait. Do you need me to call on Veronica, perhaps?” He must’ve mistaken my boredom to the fact that I was unsated.
I promptly shook my head. “No, I’m good. I just want to be left alone.” I answered before walking out of the play pen, not giving him a chance to respond. The moment I stepped out to the hallways, my guards came around me, immediately bowing their heads. I acknowledged them with a nod and they began to follow me as I made my way back to the wing.
While I walked, my eyes caught a glimpse of Caspian’s wing in the distance and I slowed to a stop, my brows furrowed in thought. He hasn’t been around for a while now. Only heavens knows where he went off to.”Has any of you seen Caspian lately?” I asked aloud,. looking at my guards.
Dennis, my head guard responded. “No, your Majesty. We haven’t seen him in the fortress lately.”
I let out a sigh, rubbing my forehead before I continued walking, my soldiers falling into steps with me. It was probably for the best anyway. Caspian, the dragon king was the most level headed out of all three of us. If he had been around, he would have disapproved of what just happened. He barely ever takes part every time we decide to indulge in a slave for sexual pleasure. Not like we care.
It was a long walk but I finalize arrives in my chambers, the soldiers on guard promptly opening the door as they saw me walking. With a deep bow, they greeted me and I acknowledged their greetings with a nod before stepping into my chambers, the doors closing behind me. Finally, blessed silence.
Looking around, I saw that the maids had prepared a steaming bath for me, everything I would need alternative provided and neatly arranged next to the tub of steaming water. Unlike the others, I didn’t like being assisted when I wanted to bath which is why there was no one in my chambers waiting for me. Shrugging off the robe I had on, I stripped myself bare once more, before slipping into the hot water, feeling my tense muscles relax as the water temperature seeped into me.
I looked down at my body, a slight grimace growing on my lips. I was covered in blood stains. The human had bled a lot more than I anticipated. It was slightly jarring. It almost made me wonder if this was her first time being taken before due to how tight she was when I first entered her. If it was, that would be truly surprising. We haven’t had a virgin in a long time and I honestly didn’t think they existed anymore in the world that we live in. Picking up a white wash cloth, I dipped it into the water, applied some soap and began to wash the blood off me.
Strangely, my mind continued to drift to the girl and the events of the night. Despite how horrific the night must have been for her, I had experienced some sort of pleasure causing her pain. I didn’t know why, but I didn’t like it. Not wanting to dwell on it, I focused all of my attention to my body, doing my best to clean myself. I can’t risk having my dark mood grow even darker. Once I was through washing my body, I rinsed the soap off with the clean buckets of water that had been provided.
I stepped out of the tub and brought out fresh clothes to wear. A knock came on the door just as I was about putting them on. I slipped into a tunic and wore my trousers before beckoning on whoever was outside to come in. The door opened and Veronica ambled in, dressed in a purple gown that clung to her body like gloves and accentuated her well rounded figure. Behind her were maids who had come to clear the bath up. She did a deep curtsy as she greeted me.
“Good morning, your Majesty. Hope you had a splendid time at the Play pen?”
I murmured a response, finishing with the last of my clothes before turning to look at her. The maids were almost through cleaning up. I waited till they were done and had left my chambers before speaking. “I don’t need your services, Veronica. If that is what you came here for.” I said as I walked to the nearby table to pick up the scrolls that had been nearly arranged there.
The expression on Veronica’s face was one of surprise. “Did the slave you purchased satisfy you?”
I shrugged, my expression grim as I read the contents for the scroll I was holding. “I guess so.”
“Oh…” She trailed off, lost for words. Then her eyes perked up. “Is there anything else you would need then?”
“Yes. I’m hungry.” I announced without missing a beat. “And call in Lord Henry for me, will you?”
“Yes, your Majesty. I’ll inform the cooks about your food.” She said.
“Good. You are dismissed.” I said, my tone final. She did another deep curtsy before leaving my chambers, the train of her grown trailing after her. Once the door closed behind her, I let out a sigh, rubbing my forehead. I didn’t know why felt so exhausted all of a sudden.
Going to sit down, I threw my head and closed my eyes, in hopes that I would get some rest. I couldn’t be more wrong. Memories of that terrible war assaulted me and the loss of my mate, my cubs and eventually the moon goddess gnawed at my soul. Out of all the Shifter’s that existed in this realm, only the Werewolves took the hardest hit since the war. The disappearance of the moon goddess from the world, made it unable for us to have mates, have cubs and made us lose connection with our wolves, making it incredibly easy for us to go rogue. As a result, our population had declined rapidly. Other Shifters had slowly begun to build their lives but we were still stuck to the past, hoping for a miracle.
Hatred bubbled in me once more and I did my best to stamp it down. A deep growl began to rumble in my chest as I fisted my hands together. Humans, I should have killed all of them when I had the chance. And that human who just lost her life in our hands, if she ever had a next life, wouldn’t dream of coming near us ever again.
