OLIVIA
I didn’t make a move to approach Rene to avoid causing a scene that would affect the company. I wouldn’t want the staff to find out about my marriage scandals.
It’s most likely to headline the front pages of every media outlet before the day runs out.
Quietly, I sneaked outside to reach out to Kate over the phone. She’s in a better position to explain to me what Rene was doing in my company.
“Pick up the damn phone, Kate. What are you doing? You should be next to your phone should any emergency arise.” I fumed. It was just a matter of time before I lost my temper and approached Rene violently.
“Hello, ma’am. Good morning to you. Where are you now? Are you anywhere close to the company? I’m sorry I missed your call. I was in the restroom. I just got back and realized you’ve been calling me for so long now,” Kate finally answered the phone just when I was close to giving up.
“Damn, your greetings. I should be asking you that question. What the heck is Rene doing in my company? I didn’t recall inviting her over. Why didn’t you tell me she was here? I would have prepared myself. Now you put me in a difficult situation. How do I ask her to leave without causing any trouble?” I queried Kate as though she were the one who offended me.
I tried my best not to yell at Kate to avoid raising eyebrows.
“What did I just hear you say? Rene is in the building already? What’s she doing here? I don’t want to believe that you invited her over. Honestly speaking, I had no idea she was already here. If I had known she already showed up, I would have kicked her out. It’s never too late to kick her ass. Do you want me to do that? I won’t even think twice about it,” Kate proposed. She was already fighting my battle even without asking her.
“No, don’t do anything stupid to her. You are just going to worsen the situation. I will approach the situation my way. I wouldn’t want to create a scene. Her presence is already complicated. Do you want to worsen it? Do you know how dramatic Rene is? Besides, I just called to clarify if you knew about this,” I stated and ended the phone.
I itched my head as I thought of what to do. Getting Rene to leave the company without being harsh to her is almost impossible to achieve, regardless of how careful I want to be.
“Good morning, ma’am. Is everything okay with you? I’ve been keeping tabs on you for a while and I noticed something unusual about you. You don’t seem excited this morning. Do you need me to do anything for you?” Alejandro, the chief security officer, asked me when he noticed how moody I was. I had no idea that he’d been watching me for a while.
“Oh, Alejandro. You startled me. I didn’t realize it was you. It’s nothing for you to be bothered about. I am just a bit down with some kind of illness. Don’t worry, I will pass,” I lied.
“If you insist. If you ever need someone to talk to, I am right here for you,” he pledged.
It took me a while to realize that Alejandro was all I ever needed in a delicate situation like that.
“Wait! Don’t go yet. I may need your help after all,” I halted Alejandro just as he was about to leave. This might just be a perfect opportunity to kick Rene’s ass.
“I require you to do something for me. Are you down for this? It might be partially inconvenient for you anyway,” I notified Alejandro and raised his blood high.
“Inconvenient for me? This sure sounds like a massive task. Not to worry. I am down for whatever. You’ve been good to all the staff,” Alejandro made a good remark about me. He agreed to help me out even without listening to what I wanted to say.
It was refreshing to see Alejandro say good things about me. I wished Cyril were here to hear him say that. That would make Cyril understand the kind of jewel he’s missing for a wife.
“A quick one! So there’s this lady that…” I paused.
“You know what? Please come with me, I’ve got something to show you.” I took Alejandro to the reception and pointed towards Rene.
“Do you see that lady over there? I want her out of the company’s premises. I don’t care how you do that, just ensure she’s kicked out. If she ever proves stubborn, you know what to do,” I directed Alejandro on what to do while I hid somewhere to watch Rene being humiliated.
“Who the hell is she? Is she the one giving you problems? You have nothing to worry about. Consider it done,” Alejandro vowed. He already assured me of a victory even before the battle ever began.
From my hideout, I watched Alejandro approach Rene, forcing her to leave.
It was difficult for me to hear them from where I was, but from their body language, I could tell that Rene was proving too stubborn to leave. She went further to cement her buttocks on the visitor’s chair, making it difficult for Alejandro to kick her out.
Immediately, I saw how fierce the situation had become; I was forced to interfere. It wasn’t my intention to show up that way. Unfortunately, Rene left me with no choice.
“Alejandro, don’t worry. I will take it up from here. You’ve done well,” I commended him for a job well done even though it wasn’t properly executed.
“I am sorry, ma’am. Are you friends with this lady? Because you will be making a big mistake. I tried all I could to make her leave and she refused. She was a hard nut to crack,” Alejandro apologized.
“You don’t have to feel bad about not kicking her out. It wasn’t your fault she was a pain in the ass. You did your best,” I praised Alejandro and dismissed him.
