Chapter 738: He’s having a harder time than she thought

Why did she suddenly sneeze?
Paige pinched her nose, which was itching a little, through her mask. Could it be that Enrico was unhappy and scolding her in the office?
It was just that last night in bed she had lost her concentration a little, but was that really a problem?
She walked into the elevator and went straight to the floor of the CEO’s office. As soon as she got out of the elevator, she saw an open layout with dark tones and large patches of sunlight.
Paige had been here before, so she walked directly towards the CEO’s office. Before she arrived, she saw Jaden, dressed in a sharp suit, walking towards her.
Jaden was not wearing a mask and looked down at her, “Miss, are you here to apply for a job?”
“…”
Paige looked at him speechlessly.
“Mr. Gustin is busy right now and does not have time to see you. You can wait in the lounge for a while,”
Jaden said with a serious face, and then secretly pointed his finger in the direction of the CEO’s office behind him, full of embarrassment.
“…”
Paige understood, Enrico was deliberately trying to ignore her.
Heh.
Small-minded.
If he really wanted to lose his temper with her, why would he secretly eavesdrop on what she said to the receptionist and even get involved with the job application?
Forget it, it’s a special period, I won’t argue with this man.
Paige took off her mask and smiled generously, “In that case, I’ll go wait in the lounge. Is there any document I can look at first?”
She didn’t want to waste any time.
“No, you haven’t joined our consortium yet, so you’re not eligible to see our consortium secrets,”
Jaden refused solemnly, then pointed to a mobile phone in front of him, indicating that he would send it to her phone.
“OK,”
Paige turned and walked towards the lounge, then thought about it and turned back, saying, “Oh, by the way, please tell Mr. Gustin that I ate very little this morning and may get hungry soon, but it’s okay, even if Mr. Gustin is busy until the evening, I will wait until then.”
“Okay,”
Jaden let out a relieved sigh as if he had completed a task and turned to leave.
Now that The Capital was in such a mess, and Mr. Gustin still had the time to pick a fight with a lady, turning into a nine-year-old Mr. Gustin once again… it was really different.

Paige entered the lounge alone. The lounge was very large, and the decor was still clearly defined, nothing gentle about it, exuding coldness.
She sat down at the table in the middle, took out her phone, and Jaden’s file arrived just in time. She clicked to accept it one by one.
After skimming it for a few minutes, she realized that the matters to be dealt with on Enrico’s side were even more complicated than her losing all her money.
He was up against all the selfish and self-interested plutocrats. Even before a formal declaration of war, there was already a lot of open and secret competition, such as the competition over the docks and the competition over the banks… one thing after another, the complications were endless.
As she read, her brow furrowed. He hadn’t told her about all this. He had publicly announced their marriage, gone to the West to save her, and then come home to see her yesterday, only to ignore her today, as if he had nothing better to do.
It was obvious that things were in a mess.
He probably thought that this would make her feel that he could handle all this with ease and that she didn’t need to worry.
This man… even when he’s ignoring her, he makes her feel like she’s the only one he cares about.
Paige smiled as she looked at the file on her phone, and then continued reading. Since the Ferris Wheel virus appeared, the Gustin Group has lost a lot of money, and many of the top management have started to disagree, believing that Enrico shouldn’t be so intent on dealing with those plutocrats at this time. They have all used different methods to persuade Enrico.
This is probably the reason why Enrico yelled at them.
“…”
If she hadn’t come on this trip, she wouldn’t have known that Enrico had been having such a hard time recently, with internal dissent and external pressure mounting.
“Bang.” The door suddenly opened with a loud noise.
Paige turned her head and saw Enrico standing in the doorway with a gloomy face, his eyes staring coldly at her. His shirt was pressed tightly against his body, unlike the way he usually looked at home, and his buttons were fastened all the way up to the top. He was wearing a simple black tie, which made his figure look exceptionally upright.
He was carrying a nice-looking wooden box.
Paige sat at the table, looking at him and then at her phone.
She had only been in the lounge for half an hour, so Mr. Gustin was being a bit hasty in judging her.
“Bang!”
Enrico walked in with a scowl, and forcefully placed the wooden box in front of her.
Paige reached out and opened it. It was actually a lunch box, with each compartment filled with delicacies, a mix of meat and vegetables, and even fruit for after the meal.
Oh, she did say she hadn’t eaten much for breakfast.
The corner of her mouth lifted up in a dark smile, and without saying a word, she picked up the chopsticks and prepared to eat.
Enrico just sat down at the edge of the table, reached up and pinched her chin up, forcing her to look at him, “Paige, are you sure I can’t bear to see you hungry?”
Paige laughed, “Yes.”
What else would she be sure of?
Her overly frank manner made Enrico choke, and he squeezed the soft flesh on her chin hard, cursing, “Paige.”
Then he let her go, giving her room to eat.
Paige bit down on a piece of pork rib, then looked up at him after removing the bone. “It was wrong of me to be distracted last night. I will definitely concentrate on serving Mr. Gustin in the future and not be distracted.”
Enrico stared at her condescendingly. “Heh, will I definitely hire you?”
“Then I can go back and be with Gabriel?”
She’s leaving?
Paige raised her eyebrows like he usually did, not sinister enough but full of provocation.
“…”
Enrico was amused by her reckless appearance. His eyes flashed, and his voice became a little hoarse. “Since you’re here, I can’t not give you face. After all, we’ve known each other for a while. It’s just right. I have a bedroom in my office, and I’m looking for a refreshment officer. You can work there in the future.”
“…”
This time, it was Paige who was stumped.
She bit into a cherry tomato, stuck in her throat, and she looked at him after she had eaten it with difficulty. “Mr. Gustin, I came here to find a proper job.”
“Oh, but I’m not a proper boss.”
Enrico raised his eyebrows, full of mischief.
Paige lost the battle and silently bowed her head to eat.
“Eat more meat and finish all the ribs,” Enrico ordered her. She didn’t even know that she had lost a lot of weight these past few days.
Paige sat there obediently nibbling on the ribs, and Enrico watched her eat.
“I see that the major domestic banks are fighting fiercely these days. During this special period, the value of the currency must be stabilized. Why don’t I help you keep an eye on the banks?” Paige volunteered, trying to lighten his burden.
On hearing this, Enrico’s eyes darkened. “Forget it. I won’t give you any chance to go out and do anything on your own. For the time being, just be my assistant and follow me around.”
If there is another battle, does he want to live?
“…”
Paige was silent and could only continue eating.
The door was knocked twice, and Jaden’s voice sounded outside, “Boss, Miss, it’s me.”
The voice was a bit heavy.
“Come in,” Enrico said.
Jaden pushed the door in and his face was solemn, “Boss, Mr. Cruise is here, it’s about the oil deal we agreed on yesterday.”
Oil.
Another major headache during the national crisis.
Paige hastily took two bites of her rice and stood up from the table, “Mr. Gustin, I’ll accompany you.”
