Chris stood up and walked to the sea.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
He punched the sea surface repeatedly.
After a moment, several fish floated up.
Chris picked up the fish and laid them on a campfire to grill.
Shortly after, the aroma of grilled fish filled the air.
Though there were no spices, for the famished Esther, it was a rare delicacy.
Gurgle!
Soon, Esther’s stomach growled.
Pouting, Esther said, “Dear, I’m hungry. Is the fish ready?”
Chris took a grilled fish off the fire and said, “Here, eat.”
Esther took the fish and began eating heartily.
“Dear, this fish is so delicious! I’ve never had such tasty grilled fish before!”
In no time, Esther had finished a fish.
Hearing her, Chris gave a wry smile and said, “Dear, you might not say that in a few days.”
“Why?”
Esther asked with a puzzled look.
Chris shook his head and said nothing.
The next day.
Esther woke up and turned her head, only to find Chris missing.
“Dear, where are you?”
“Dear, don’t you want me anymore?”
Sobbing, she cried, “Dear…”
Unable to find Chris, Esther immediately began to weep.
Alone on the deserted island, how was she to survive without Chris?
“Why are you crying, dear?”
“Dear…”
Esther looked up to see Chris approaching with some coconuts.
Unable to control herself any longer, she threw herself at him.
“Dear, I thought you didn’t want me anymore.”
“You fool!”
Chris said, patting Esther’s head, his face expressionless.
“Dear, where did you go?”
Esther asked, looking curious.
Chris, holding the coconuts, replied, “There’s no fresh water on this island, so I had no choice but to pick some coconuts.”
Chris had searched the entire island but found no fresh water.
For humans, the absence of fresh water was deadly.
Though surrounded by the sea, seawater was not drinkable.
Fortunately, Chris found many coconut trees on the island.
So, he picked some coconuts, not expecting Esther to misunderstand.
Chris cracked open the coconuts and gave the coconut water to Esther.
After drinking, Esther touched her stomach and said, “Dear, I’m hungry again!”
Hearing this, Chris looked speechless.
Esther really was a foodie!
“Dear, just wait, I’ll go catch some fish for you!”
In a blink.
Three days later.
Chris and Esther lay on the beach, utterly bored.
Life on the deserted island was dull and uninteresting.
There were no recreational activities, only primitive tasks.
But even primitive tasks became too much for Chris every day!
Continuing this way, he would surely suffer from exhaustion.
At first, they had hoped for a passing ship.
But in these three days, not only did no ships pass by, they hadn’t even seen a seabird.
It was a desolate place.
According to Chris’s observations, the island’s location was extremely remote and far from any shipping lanes, which explained the absence of passing ships.
Though no ships passed by, Chris felt fortunate that Esther was by his side.
With Esther by his side, life at least wasn’t boring. Chris imagined that if they were stranded on this deserted island for a decade or so, they might end up having a bunch of kids. By then, he might as well be the king of the island. Chris wondered if Tiger and the others were looking for him. Under normal circumstances, if Tiger hadn’t found him, he would definitely send someone to search. But the Atlantic was vast, and there were too many islands. Finding him was not going to be easy.
Chris didn’t want to think too much about it now; he needed to conserve his energy and wait for Tiger’s people to come and rescue him.
“Dear, I’m hungry!”
Esther suddenly spoke.
Chris stood up and said, “Dear, I’ll catch some fish for you!”
“No!”
“Dear, I don’t want fish anymore. Can we have something else?”
Esther cried out urgently, her face pained.
They had been eating fish every day for the past few days. And since they lacked other cooking tools on the island, they could only grill the fish. Esther felt like she would throw up if she had to eat fish again.
Fortunately, Chris had rich wilderness survival skills, knew how to catch fish, and make fire by drilling wood. If Esther were alone on this island, she probably would have starved to death by now.
Chris reluctantly said, “Alright, dear, I’ll go see if there’s something else to eat.”
After saying that, Chris went to look for food on the island.
About half an hour later, Chris returned with a wild boar in hand.
“Dear, today we’ll have roasted wild boar!”
Chris said with a smile.
He hadn’t expected to find a wild boar on the island, and now they finally didn’t have to eat fish. In no time, the delicious smell of roasted wild boar filled the air, and Chris and Esther ate heartily.
After eating, Chris and Esther lay back on the sand, leading a life as idle as salted fish.
“Dear, do you want to exercise a bit?”
“Isn’t it a bit too soon after eating?”
“It’s precisely because we just ate, it’s good for digestion.”
“Uh…”
An hour later.
Chris lay on the beach, completely spent.
“Dear…”
“Dear, please spare me! No, really no! If this continues, I probably won’t make it off this island alive!”
Chris was truly frightened.
For some reason, since landing on this island, Esther had fallen in love with working out. Although Chris was physically strong, he couldn’t withstand Esther’s enthusiasm.
Esther said coyly, “Dear, what are you talking about? I just wanted to ask when we can leave?”
Chris sighed with relief and chuckled bitterly, “How would I know? It could be a day, a month, a year… or even a lifetime. All are possibilities.”
Esther looked at the sky, her face full of longing, “Dear, actually, staying like this is quite nice. Maybe this is the life I’ve always wanted.”
“Uh?”
Chris was stunned.
He completely stopped talking.
If this was the life Esther longed for, what more could he say?
Esther turned to Chris and said, “Dear, I think we can have a bunch of kids here, and then…”
Her face turned red with shyness, unable to continue.
Chris just smiled helplessly.
Was this the start of a game where they were stranded on a deserted island and then began building a nation?
