“This can’t be happening” I sighed.
I can’t tell if I was disappointed, scared, or confused over my life.
After staying in the straight line to get a bath, they lead us to an open field.
Looking everywhere, the girls just got to their seats and stared blankly at nothing. It was as if they were all enticed by something invisible because of how focused.
Although I was tempted to ask about why they were all like that bit I didn’t. I did the same, just staring at the green nothing. Frankly, it was a bit refreshing at some point.
The feeling of the fresh air on my face seems relaxing, at least I know that I was not dying. At least I wasn’t with Brook, wondering how he became part of this evil.
After some time, we all began to walk back in the annoying straight line. This time, I attempted to break the line but noticed abot girl being tased. At that moment, I knew I didn’t need to be another example.
It didn’t take long for me to notice the same girl, That girl with short hair.
She was always on her own, always the last, looked a bit different from us, and still looked healthy.
I tried to be like her, I refused to eat and when the girls start to drop, I would do like her and fall too. I would stain my hand with the food and my mouth as if I had eaten too.
These three nights, a girl would been taken and would be returned after a long time, maybe after one hour. The same girl got taken a day before yesterday and last night too and I was beginning to go curious.
Making sure to enter the cage before Caramel, I stayed mute even if she wanted me to move. I just want to stay near that lady with short hair, I feel like she knew something.
Aside that, I don’t get why she knew all their moves. She doesn’t get affected, she just was her own person and still fine.
Although she was in the cage with two other girls, they just don’t talk to her. Unlike the three other cages, the three girls there talk to each other like they are doing now. They were like like siblings or friends.
What I could see was that we were similar. We Don’t talk to our cage members, don’t eat the food, and enjoy staring at each other for a very long time. It was as if we had this connection.
And of course, we weren’t falling in love.
Soon, the rogues arrived with the food, and this time, it was something good.
Mashed potatoes and beef does look bad, especially when the aroma was tempting. One more thing, they didn’t bring one plate for all to share, they gave each of us our plates and a bottle of water this time.
‘This looks like a good sign, Ashina’ I thought.
Even if she didn’t reply, I knew she was down there. I could feel her like she had been out for a while and was gradually coming back.
Then staring at Caramel eating her food, I wonder if I should tell her about Raven. If I should tell her that we have being kidnapped her by her Alpha and my enemy, Camille.
‘How can I tell her that the enemy she has no idea of is her friends?’
Are they even really friends?
All I could see was Caramel following Raven everywhere while they make trouble.
Oddly, the girls had all finished eating and are watching.
‘Are they not supposed to fall, Ashina?’ I thought stupidly.

Look at me asking someone about something when she hasn’t been here. Even Caramel has finished eating hers and nothing happened to her, not a bit of laziness or making her drop. I looked around to see the lady with short hair sniffing her food before beginning to eat.
“You?” I asked.
I thought she would not respond, that she might just look away since we have never said anything to each other.
“Good” she replied.
Good as in? Does she mean I can eat?
Too late, my hungry intestines didn’t let me wait. Even when choking, I still ate every single bit of the food and drank all the water. By the time I was done, I turn to see the girl to still see her slowly eating hers.
‘shit! That was too fast for me’.
She had that disappointed look on her face as she tilted her head to the side to show me her half-eaten food. She drank half her water and laid it in front of her too then lay down. Before she could lay down, the girls in the cage had already begun to fight for it, but yet, they both ate it.
Soon it was nightfall and the rogues and Human came to take out the plates. The humans didn’t look so tired as they did the last time. They look healthy with wide smiles on their faces. One walked past me could and I sniffed her.
‘She smells like Mira’ I said to myself.

I was sure, very sure because the first day Mira came to take me out Rex’s chamber, I sniffed her. Even after I got marked, I was sure I sniffed her so well because she hugged me.
Looking at the girl with short hair. She nodded once, smiled, then lay down.
“Watch,” she said.
Watch?
What the heck does she want me to watch?
To watch the girl that were them sleeping? Or, The guards? Or the atmosphere that seems strangely odd!
“Hey” she muttered “Do watch,” she said again.

And when I turned, she was looking at me. Straight and blankly into my eyes. Not knowing what to do, I nodded once and she did the same with a cute smile.
“Rain,” I said.
What else can I have done? At least she needed to know who I was and I needed to know her too but the look on her face showed that she wasn’t getting it.
“No rain,” she said “Just cool air”.

Shit! I knew my name would be an issue but I smiled still. I can’t let her look like a complete idiot or let her know I feel like a complete idiot.
“Ashina” I tried this time as I gently tapped my chest twice.
She smiled as she tucked her short stray hair behind her ear lope.
“Nora,” she said.
Pffff.
At least she got this one.
I did watch just as she said.
All Night, or half of the night rather, I was up, waiting for the next person to be picked but none. All Night, no one came, not even to check up on us like they usually do.
At that point, all that befall my eyes was absolute darkness. Total that I felt I went blind.
It was as if there were no stars, no moon, nothing in the sky, and everywhere seems pitched. Total void and it was outrageous.
Scared, I strained my eyes to look around, to check if I would see anything around but no. Everywhere seemed so dark that I could not see the tip of my nose.
It was as if I was going blind.
Oh no! Did they put something that would make me go blind in the food?
‘What’s happening?’ I asked Ashina.
Still, she didn’t respond. I just know that she was there, somewhere down, but I still couldn’t tell.
Laying still, I noticed movement around me. First, the sound of locks then muffled screaming of girls.
If they wanted any girl, they could just drug us the way they use to. Why scared the shit out of us before doing whatever they want to do to us?
Soon, the sound got close to where I was.
I felt I would pee on myself. I felt I would let out that hot feases that came from nowhere but I didn’t.
I had no idea about what was happening but I heard our cage door open.
FEAR!!!
I feared I almost shit my pants as I lay extremely still. In fact, one would think that I was dead to lay that way. Even when I felt someone grip my ankle, I didn’t move, I just pretend.
“Not that one”.
Just like that, the person let go of my leg and I heard the door close. Throughout the night, I didn’t sleep, I just lay still and before I knew it, it was morning.
My back hurt, my entire body hurt and when I turned to stretch, I look to notice Nora was not in her cage with the rest girls. It then occur to me to look around then I realized something. The rest girls were still sleeping, so still like woods including Caramel.
‘Oh no!’.
