My gaze fixed on him as if wanting to skin him alive with my laser eyes. I wished I had laser eyes, I would have skinned him for real.
“You know I didn’t say that Alpha Rex” Brook visibly panicked “I only have not settled my level because…”.
“Are you trying to act like you are above the rest pack? Or You feel superior to have anything doing with the other parks, Great Alpha Brooklyn” I interrupted.
Rage!
Pure rage, hate, and satire laced my voice as I glanced at Hawk for a few seconds. Turning my back and walking away, I knew I had other things to do. I had other things to check in this park and I would not waste that time telling Brook what to do.
He knew he wasn’t a child.
“Grow the balls, Brook” I growled “If you want independence or want to show how ungrateful you are, let that be known to the Alpha king!”.
With Hawk walking behind, I was sure if looks could kill, the back of my head would have lots of holes in it.
I knew how stupid it sounded but Axon seemed to be the best option now. Even though I still find his life odd, I knew that feeling, that feeling of not having what you want felt like.
Maybe Axon might still want to be the Alpha and not an irrelevant Delta who does nothing. Odd, how this park has no Beta and yet Alphas and less privileged Alpha. The son of a coward that has given up being an Alpha because he have so many enemies. He felt he can not cope with his people’s demands, his mate, protecting his only child.
Such a coward.
Axon, the odd son of the coward ex-Alpha who had failed to think about how his son would feel.
As far as I could remember, I never wanted to be an Alpha. I never wanted to be anything like my father when all he did was fight, create enemies, fight, create more enemies, and died. I never get to meet my mother, never got to know what she looked or sounded like.
Each time I talked about her, it just came out to be another lecture not letting a woman get to your head.
But Rain, Rain was already getting into my life!
Even after he had told me how great men have fallen because of women, I still went ahead to make the same mistake by falling so hard for my Ex mate. I granted her everything she asked, was eager to show her off and was ready to have pups and dwell together forever.
Why would I notice? Just why? She was so beautiful, so sweet, had the nicest smile as at that time, but the heart of the devil.
Maybe Rain would be better, maybe she would give me a very good smile but that would be if she ever smiles. I would not make such a mistake again, at least, my father had a point where he always lecture me to keep women where they belong which was below.
For Rain, I just needed to find out something. Something about why Axon offered me black coffee on my arrival with a sweet smile on his face.
“You found out already?” He asked.
Confused, I pretend to look toward the door to be sure of what he was talking about. He can’t know what Rain really was and still let me have her, I doubt that.
Everyone that would get a small and weak omega with a big black wolf would not want to trade her for anything. Especially when her blood heals you within seconds and her bite and scratches rarely heal.
Staring at the untouched cup of coffee on the table, I maintained my blank expression. Growling inwardly, I straightened my legs before looking up at Axon.
Like father like son.
I thought he looked so colorful with high expectations only to have him look away to avoid my gaze.
His father obviously did see the cowardness in his son on time so I think he did the right thing.
“You were saying?”.
Clearing his throat inwardly, Axon took the chair in front of me. Frankly, his office seems kind of cool. You hung his pictures, his parents, and lots of paper works. Since he seemed insignificant in his Park, I wonder what paperwork he still has to settle.
His complete set of computer sat gracefully on the table, with its back facing me. It was becoming so annoying why I couldn’t see it even though I don’t have the right to.
My bad, I remember he was the one that worked out Rain’s transfer.
“Since you hold the park’s record, I want to ask you about Rain,” I said “Tell me all you know about her”.
Nodding once, Axon stood up and walked towards some pile of files. After going through a lot, he sighed and shrugged. Looking back at me, he walked back to his seat and double-tapped his computer.
After typing for a while, a small smile spread across his face as he relaxed on his chair and looked up at me.
“Rain Hope, currently 22, was found unconscious when she was eight at the Rava River drowning in the blood of her park members, humans, and probably parents. No history about who actually parents are and there was nothing to trace her back”.
Smiling proudly at his worthless speech, Axon looked me in the eyes for the first time and went blank. That smile I had noticed before was then nowhere to be found. Now replaced with what I could only explain as malice, Axon looked back at the computer and exhaled.
“Status: Omega, obviously” Axon looked up at me for a few seconds “Lived alone since she was fifteen, bullied by many, if not all” again, he looked up at me.
I see what he is doing but I won’t let him have it. He can not push me, not when will not hesitate to rip his heart off his chest and detach his head after.
‘Why did that guts come from!?’ Mod asked.
Even Hawk would be surprised to hear about this, to find out that this coward seating in front of me is pissing me up to the fullest.
I can feel my nails trying to break out into my claws. The back of both palms became covered in furs for a few seconds before going back to normal. Still yet, I won’t let my anger give in to me, maybe not now.
Placing both hands on the table, I made to stand up but stopped after noticing Axon’s face. He looked like he still had something to say and as much as I don’t want to listen, I somehow did listen.
“Prohibited from attending any public gathering since she was 19 and hasn’t shifted for the first time” Axon continued with his gaze at me for a few seconds before looking back at the screen “But before then, she was tagged the cursed wolf because the first girl she bites with her vegetarian teeth didn’t recover fully until after two months”.
Interesting!
Seating up, I raised my brows ordering him to continue but who was I kidding? With his blank gaze on me, Axon adjusted on his chair, cracked his knuckles, neck, and arched his back awkwardly.
“Twelve days ago, Delta Axon discovered that she stole the Alpha’s seal ring, took her to meet the Alpha only to have Alpha Rex also there” He looked up at me for a few moments then back at the screen “Rumors about her shifting for the first time followed, source said a small Brown wolf which is yet to be confirmed”.
Pausing for a few seconds to move his fingers through his hair, Axon finally looked away from the computer.
“She was taken away from her park after her transfer being ordered by Alpha Rex and never to be seen again” He turned fully towards me “Unmated and probably dead” he added.
I could vouch he had waited for his moment since birth because his look had said it all.
His prankish stare, so irritating!
Frankly, I had no right to ask him such questions except if I go through the Alpha which was not going to happen. I don’t trust those Alphas for anything! Especially with his son that never get to look at me the way he should.
Totally disappointed for getting nothing and wasting my patience, I stood up and stared at Axon for the last time.
“Thank you for being absolutely useless,” I said.
I didn’t expect him to answer which he never did. Not until I opened the door and took a step outside before hearing his tiny whisper.
“It’s totally my pleasure to be useless to you too, Alpha Rex” Axon said.
I certainly heard him clearly, that small stutter matching the same satire I had used.
