“What did you say?”
Ulric looked into Johnny’s eyes and said heavily, “Could it really be Rosalind’s child?”
After the divorce, she got pregnant and secretly gave birth without letting him know.
Johnny waved his hand again, his tone as firm as a pledge. “Definitely not! Let me tell you, when you two were getting divorced, I ran into Rosalind at the hospital. She was there for a check-up.”
Ulric had no idea about this. His thick eyebrows immediately furrowed. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Why would I tell you? She was determined to get a divorce! At that time, she was at the hospital because she had trouble getting pregnant. I even suspected that was why she insisted on divorcing you, but later I found out it wasn’t.”
The real reason was Sirena and her actions.
But Johnny wouldn’t tell Ulric that. Although he disagreed with Sirena’s actions now, if he spoke up, it would lead to a storm of trouble.
How would Ulric face his parents then?
It wouldn’t help him reconcile with Rosalind either. The damage was done and irreversible. His mother might even be driven to her grave by the shock!
Johnny didn’t want to see that outcome.
“She had trouble getting pregnant?”
“Yes!” Johnny nodded. “I heard the doctor tell her to discuss it with her husband!”
“Are you sure the doctor meant discussing her infertility and not… pregnancy?”
Johnny was taken aback.
Yes!
Back then, he only heard the doctor say to discuss it, but Rosalind told him what it was about!
Seeing Johnny’s face turn pale, Ulric’s heart nearly stopped.
He grabbed Johnny’s shirt and pulled him close. “You didn’t hear the doctor say she was there for infertility issues, did you?!”
“No… the doctor didn’t say that.”
“Which hospital did she go to?”
“Julia Medical Center.”
“The same hospital where Rosalind’s mother was admitted?”
Johnny nodded. “Yes.”
Ulric turned to leave.
Johnny quickly caught up with him. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to the hospital to find out if she was pregnant back then!”
“Ulric, calm down!” Johnny grabbed his shirt. “Sure, I didn’t hear the doctor say she was infertile, but that doesn’t mean she was pregnant. That boy could still be hers! Let me help you investigate this first; you should find that boy.”
“Don’t stop me; I need to know the truth.” Ulric shook him off with a dark tone. “Whatever the outcome, I’ll deal with it.”
Johnny tried to stop him because he knew Ulric wasn’t prepared for the worst-case scenario.
But what Johnny didn’t know was that Ulric would do anything for Rosalind.
Watching Ulric walk away resolutely, Johnny felt a severe headache coming on.
The problem between them wasn’t just about a child; it was about Rosalind’s mother’s deep-seated hatred.
And Ulric knew nothing about it.
If the child really was Rosalind’s, things would be even worse!
