In the garden of the Ellison family, the scene was lively with people in beautiful clothes, exchanging toasts.
Marilyn walked out accompanied by Ahmad and Sienna. She wore a sea-blue long dress, her hair was all up, and she wore a crown, her whole being glowing white like a real princess.
Everyone envied her.
After blowing out the candles on the big cake, Marilyn said, “In the future at Ylosea, I hope everyone will take care of me.”
There was a burst of applause from the audience.
“By the way,” she continued, “later, I have a big announcement to make, so please look forward to it.”
Everyone was puzzled, Ahmad and Sienna exchanged glances and whispered, “Don’t mess around, Marilyn.”
“I’m not messing around, you’ll know later.” Marilyn showed a strange smile and then took Ahmad’s arm. “Dad, let’s go toast.”
Ahmad frowned tightly, hesitated for a moment but still took her to toast, which was actually just a way to network.
Sienna stayed in place, scanning the crowd, and saw a familiar figure walking towards her.
“Sienna, long time no see.” It was Jaquan, dressed simply with a smile on his face.
“Jaquan,” Sienna said gently, “long time no see.”
“Sienna, you’ve been in seclusion on the mountain; I didn’t want to disturb you, so I didn’t pay you a visit over the years, please don’t mind.” Jaquan propped one hand on the table.
“I don’t blame you; in fact, I should thank you. Marilyn was in London for the past few years, thanks to your care.” Sienna was very grateful.
“It’s my duty.” Jaquan put one hand in his pocket and looked at the woman mingling in the crowd. “Besides, it was your personal request; of course, I would do it.”
Sienna showed some guilt and then asked, “Over these years, have you met any other girls you fancy?”
The emphasis on “other” was clear.
Jaquan smiled. “Sienna, my feelings for Marilyn have never changed.”
Sienna sighed. “I’m sorry for you; she will come around eventually.”
Both looked towards Marilyn. At that moment, a commotion arose.
Today Corey brought Charlotte along. When Charlotte poured wine for Marilyn, she accidentally spilled it on her dress. Marilyn shouted and then asserted, “Charlotte, you did that on purpose.”
Corey exchanged a glance with Ahmad but didn’t react immediately.
Charlotte tried to wipe it clean immediately. “Sorry Miss Ellison, I didn’t mean to! I can compensate.”
“This was custom-made from Italy a month in advance. Charlotte, can you afford it?” Marilyn’s face was very unpleasant.
Charlotte looked at Corey with a pleading expression. He intervened, “Miss Ellison, my assistant was careless. How about this: I’ll compensate for the dress after the event.”
“I do not lack money.” Marilyn sneered. “Mr. Woods, you seem to care a lot about this clumsy assistant.”
Everyone present could understand what she implied and began whispering.
Charlotte lowered her head, her face flushed red.
“And as far as I know, the salary of an executive assistant isn’t high, but your tone just now seemed like you didn’t care at all.” Marilyn was aggressive.
Ahmad’s face gradually darkened. He pulled Marilyn’s hand. “Go change your clothes first; we’ll talk about this later.”
With Ahmad’s words, Marilyn restrained herself a bit. She approached Charlotte. “Charlotte, I won’t ask you to compensate. Instead, tonight you can be a waitress and serve drinks to everyone.”
