Alex:
Ever since I was a baby, I’ve always heard a voice in my head. At first, I thought it was just a phase that would eventually go away, but it didn’t. It felt like there was another person inside me, but I knew it wasn’t my wolf since I hadn’t reached the age to have one yet-or at least, that’s what my mom and teacher told me.
I didn’t share the details with my mom, fearing she might think I was crazy. So, I kept this secret to myself, knowing this strange part of me held an extraordinary amount of power. This made me stand out from the average werewolf child, as I was super intelligent.
The voice frequently communicated with me, warning me of danger and helping me solve problems. It also gave me the ability to read people’s minds when necessary, particularly when they were most vulnerable. This allowed me to discover a few dark secrets my mother had kept hidden from me.
I lay in bed, tossing and turning restlessly, frustrated by the thought of my mother marrying Alpha Damian, a man who wasn’t my father, and making his spoiled daughter my sister.
I deeply disliked Anna and tried everything I could to prevent our parents’ union, but it seemed my mother had fallen in love with him and no longer cared about my happiness.
I couldn’t understand why she chose Alpha Damian over my real father when he was still alive. I had always hoped she would reconcile with my father.
I admired Alpha Damian for his effort in trying to bring back his deceased mate to make his daughter happy, and this made me envious of Anna. She had a caring father, and so I used the mysterious being inside me to guide him through the Forest of Darkness to reunite him with his dead mate just so he could leave my mom alone, but my plan didn’t work because he seemed to have fallen for my mother too.
Maybe I should have let him die in the Forest of Darkness. That way, he wouldn’t be here today to marry my mother and take her away from me.
My dream was to have a perfect family with my biological father, whom I recently discovered.
How did I find out?
The day Alpha Damian aggressively demanded I remove my eye patches so his spoiled daughter could see my face. That was when I found my answer, and a part of me forgave him because, after that, everyone at the academy whispered about how I resembled a certain Alpha who owned the school.
This explained why my mother had been so opposed to my attending the werewolf academy. She didn’t want me to have any involvement with him.
I heard the sounds of people cheering, signalling that the ceremony was about to begin. With a heavy heart, I slipped out of bed, making sure not to make any noise.
Earlier, my mom had begged me to attend the ceremony, but I declined. I felt it was better to use this opportunity to find my father and convince him to stop my mom from leaving us for another man.
To be honest, even though I dislike Alpha Damian, I once unintentionally read his thoughts and discovered that he wasn’t a bad person. He genuinely cared about my mother and was deeply passionate about his daughter, which made me jealous and made me yearn for my own father.
I longed for a father who would teach me how to fight and ride a bicycle, just like other fathers do with their sons. I imagined a father who would show me how to play sports, help me build a treehouse, and guide me through life’s challenges. I wanted someone who would be a role model, offering advice and sharing experiences to help me grow into a strong, capable person.
Only my real father could fulfil those hopes. Would he be happy to know I was still alive?
My mom had once told me, after our confrontation, that she would tell him about me herself. However, as time passed, I grew impatient and desperate for my father’s love, and I could only hope she kept her promise.
Quietly, I dressed and grabbed a few essentials, stuffing them into a small bag and placing my eye patches to hide my eyes. My mind was made up-I couldn’t stay here any longer, pretending that everything was okay when it wasn’t.
Slowly, I crept out of the house, and the cool night air embraced me, offering a fleeting sense of peace as a smile graced my lips at the thought of finally meeting my father and reuniting him with my mother.
I wanted to make my father fall in love with my mother again and vice versa, but first I needed to find him and demand answers for the pain he had caused her.
With the help of the mysterious being within me, I could read my mother’s thoughts and witness her most vulnerable moments, even if I didn’t want to.
For instance, I discovered she had nearly thrown me off a cliff as a baby because I resembled my father, which is one of the reasons why I refused to tell her about me. My mother was unaware that I knew, and for six years, I watched her silently cry as her heart filled with resentment and pain. My appearance constantly reminded her of bad memories caused by my father, which led me to accept wearing an eye patch every day of my life just to bring her some comfort.
I noticed my mother seemed much happier after meeting Alpha Damian, and while it hurt to think of taking that happiness away from her, I believed she would be even happier with my father after reconciliation.
The journey to my father’s pack should have been long and challenging, but with the strange spirit within me, the journey became much faster than usual because I allowed him to take over.
“Alex, I have a bad feeling about this. You might get hurt.” The strange being in my head spoke.
This strange being had become my companion over time, keeping me company through my loneliness, but he refused to tell me anything about himself, his origins, or why he was stuck in my head.
Initially, I referred to the voice as a strange being due to its extraordinary power, but later I decided to name him Shadow because I thought he was super cool.
“I have to do this. I have to meet my father. I have so many questions for him. It’s now or never,” I said, and Shadow remained silent, offering no further input as I pressed on with my journey.
The Diamond Pack was a fair distance from the academy. I recalled the first day I visited the pack with my mother and how uneasy she became when she heard a voice accusing her of killing someone named Andrew.
Finally, I arrived and approached the pack’s territory with a sense of anticipation mingled with nervousness. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew that I needed to find my father and confront him about his absence from my life.
Taking a deep breath, I crossed the border, my heart pounding in my chest. It didn’t take long for me to encounter a group of wolves, their eyes narrowing suspiciously as they caught sight of me.
“State your name and your purpose here,” one of the warriors demanded, his dark eyes and scarred face making him look menacing. If I hadn’t previously encountered Alpha Damian, who was even more intimidating, I might have probably shit in my pants right now.
“I’m looking for Liam,” I said, licking my lips nervously and shifting my weight from one foot to the other. “I need to speak with him.”
The wolves exchanged wary glances before one of them stepped forward, his gaze piercing and challenging.
“And who are you, little wolf, to address the Alpha without his title?” He asked, his tone laced with suspicion.
“I’m Alex,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. “I’m Alpha Liam’s son.” I held his gaze, trying to project confidence despite the tension I felt.
“Prove it.” He said so, and I reached up and removed the eye patches covering my eyes, revealing my silver eyes beneath.
The wolves around me gasped in shock as they realised the truth of my words, their eyes widening in disbelief. Their reaction mirrored that of everyone back at the academy when I revealed my face.
Without another word, they led me through the pack, where the people we passed stared at me with suspicion and curiosity. The warriors’ steps quickened as they guided me, and I moved with growing unease as we entered the house.
“Alpha, there’s a boy here to see you. He claims to be your son,” one of the warriors said as we stopped in front of a large, closed office door.
“What are you talking about? I don’t have a son,” came a rough voice from inside the office. I instantly recognised Alpha Liam’s voice, and his denial stung. How could he say he had no son? Had my mom kept the truth from him?
The warrior paused, studying me for a moment as if to verify he wasn’t seeing double.
“Alpha, but he looks just like you,” he insisted.
There was a heavy silence, and I could sense the tension growing on the other side of the door. Then, Alpha Liam’s voice cut through the air: “Get dressed and leave.”
Soon after, I heard the sound of movement, and to my shock, two women, barely covered, hurried out of the room. My mouth fell open in disbelief at the unexpected scene.
