Ruby
“Let me go, Liam!” I yelled, managing to bite his lips hard enough to draw blood. In a swift, determined motion, I broke free from his grasp. The sudden release allowed me to regain my composure, and I glared at him in rage while he smirked.
I felt so irritated that his lips touched mine, and I took a step back, creating a safe distance, feeling gross about the forced kiss. The taste of it lingered, making my stomach turn. His smirk only added to my frustration. Even though I managed to break free physically, the icky feeling stayed with me, creating a mix of anger and disgust inside.
“Don’t get shy with me, Ruby; you used to enjoy my kisses and beg for more,” he retorted, a wild look in his steel grey eyes.
“Don’t ever touch me again; you are a crazy bastard.” I yelled, frustrated that he didn’t grasp the seriousness of what he had just done. With a surge of strength and defiance, I rushed towards him, delivering a well-aimed kick to his lower region. He doubled over in pain, the towel loosening from his waist. The impact echoed through the room, a mix of shock and discomfort on his face as he looked up at me.
With my escape route clear, I wasted no time and hurried towards the door. However, as I reached for the handle, it swung open unexpectedly to reveal Lilith standing at the entrance, her arrival catching me off guard. Her gaze fell upon the chaotic scene-Liam wincing in pain, naked, and me catching my breath.
It was impossible for her not to misunderstand the situation as her eyes scanned the room, and I didn’t care and wasn’t going to explain myself to her. The atmosphere shifted, and I braced myself for the upcoming storm, letting out a frustrated groan. I had no patience for nonsense, but if she was coming for me, this time I was ready without fear.
“Why are you here? It seems you haven’t learned your place and need to be schooled,” Lilith spat, her rage boiling over, attempting to intimidate me. I met her furious gaze with a mix of defiance and determination.
“You won’t intimidate me, Lilith. I’ve had enough of your games,” I declared, my voice steady despite the storm brewing around us.
Her eyes blazed with an unholy fire as she hissed. “You think you can waltz into my territory, seduce my mate, and then defy me? You’re nothing more than a pathetic interloper.”
I held my ground, refusing to let her words penetrate my resolve. “Your mate?” I scoffed, letting out a loud laugh at her ridiculous claim. “He’s not yours to claim, or don’t tell me you’ve forgotten you stole him from me in the first place. Thanks for taking out my trash. He wasn’t my man but my problem, and I’m glad you picked up my trash,” I sneered. Lilith’s fingers curled into claws, and the air crackled with suppressed energy.
“Just because Damian backs you up doesn’t make you special, darling. Damian will never love anyone as much as he loved Ava, and I’ll enjoy tearing you apart to remind Damian where he truly belongs, which is by my side,” she said, attempting to hurt me. I remained unfazed.
“You seem to know a lot about my mate; perhaps you are in love with him?” I smirked as I admitted my truth, and the sound of crashing from behind me made me know that Liam had heard and understood my revelation. I had openly declared that Damian was my mate. As tension escalated, I prepared for the impending clash, my wolf standing steadfast by my side, ready to defend what was rightfully ours.
“Damian is not your mate. Stop lying, you stupid bitch! You’re so desperate!” Lilith yelled, storming towards me with force. With a quick and calculated sidestep, I dodged her incoming slap, leaving her off balance.
As I observed her stumble forward, fate intervened in its ironic way, and Lilith, caught in the momentum of her failed attack, collided with Liam. Their bodies tangled, and both of them tumbled to the ground in an unexpected twist of events. Shock and disbelief painted their faces as they struggled to untangle themselves from the awkward collision, the unintended outcome of Lilith’s enraged advance.
I seized the opportunity to distance myself from the unfolding chaos, a smirk playing on my lips as I observed the tangled mess of Lilith and Liam on the floor. Their expressions were a mix of surprise and irritation as they tried to disentangle themselves.
“Lilith, let me be clear once and for all. I won’t let you take Damian away from me, just like you did with that bastard by your side. Like you, I’m ready to play your games, and I won’t stop until I bring you down for good. Mark my words.”
Lilith shot me a venomous glare, her eyes burning with rage. “You think you can mock me with this little
stunt? You’ll pay for this, Ruby!”
Ignoring her outburst, I turned on my heels and walked to the door with determination to leave the chaos behind. The door closed with a solid thud, muffling Lilith’s furious protests. The hallway offered me a moment of peace to gather my thoughts together. As I distanced myself from the turmoil, a mix of determination and weariness settled within me, knowing the confrontation was far from over and the war between us was yet to begin.
I glanced up at the clock hanging in the centre of the corridor, relieved to find that it was already closing time. I couldn’t bear to be here for another second. All I wanted was to cuddle with my son, who was probably already home. Racing through the twists and turns of the academy’s corridors, I headed towards the sick bay. Grabbing my bag, which held the original document, I made a hasty exit from the werewolf academy. Unexpectedly, I bumped into a solid body, and when I looked up, I realised it was Damian’s beta. My face flushed with embarrassment and surprise.
“Sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going,” I stammered, quickly composing myself. He probably thinks I’m clumsy now.
The beta cleared his throat, and there was a hint of urgency in his eyes. “Actually, I’ve been looking for you. Damian has urgent news he needs to share with you.”
Concern washed over me. “Urgent news? What happened? Is he okay? I asked, my brows furrowing.
“I don’t know if he is, but I trust in the moon goddess,” he said with a seriousness that mirrored the weight of the situation. “You’re expected to join the Pearl Moon Pack tomorrow. My alpha has entrusted me to inform you. Also, he has embarked on a journey to handle some pressing matters and will be back tomorrow, hopefully before nighttime.”
Where did Damian disappear to? Even though it hasn’t been a week since he gave me time to prepare myself, I couldn’t shake the feeling that he might be enjoying his time with Lilith, but now I guess I was wrong, and maybe-just maybe-my jealousy clouded my judgement and I saw things wrong.
The beta words left me with a trail of questions and uncertainty as I watched him leave. As I absorbed the unexpected news, the urgency to understand Damian’s motives intensified. Why did he want me to be with him so badly? This was entwined with the growing complexities of my own situation and the quest for answers regarding my son’s case.
One thing was certain: from now on, I would leverage Damian and his power to get what I wanted. I’d start by dismantling Lilith and seeking revenge on Liam, taking away everything and everyone they loved.
