DANTE’S POV
It was that particular morning when the sunlight filtered through the silk curtains, and Helena beside me on the sofa chair that was as large as a bed, her hands strewn lazily across my chest. I had woken up first, my eyes focused on her face as she snored lightly. It was at that moment I realized, I was threading on dangerous waters, I realized she was clouding my head more hours of the day than I needed her to be.
Her porcelain skin reflected the sunlight with a luminous grace that could bring a man to his knees, and suddenly her fluttered open and I shut mine immediately, pretending to be asleep. I couldn’t let her know I had been watching her sleep and when I saw she was standing up to leave, I grabbed her wrist pulling her back to me, I still wanted to revel in her raspberry and honey scent with a hint of coconut in her hair and hold her for as long as she was willing to allow.
“Coffee?” she drawled lazily at me and unknowingly my hands went to touch her face, drawing my fingers slowly along her smooth skin and for some reason, I couldn’t pull my eyes away. She looked so good and tasted even better I wanted her, I needed her everyday and it was a scary thought because I knew I would destroy her and I wouldn’t be able to help it because it was my nature.
“Yes please” I finally answered, and she stood up still naked and stretching to the full extent of her sexy curves, I lay mesmerized but just as she picked up her night dress to wear, I heard footsteps coming from outside and that was when I realized I had forgotten to arm the security alarm the previous night but I was quick as a cat and I pushed Helena on the chair, covering her with my body as she struggled to put on her clothes. I didn’t mind my nakedness being exposed but not hers, I would kill anyone who dared to.
“Dante, long time no see” I heard his voice before I saw his face because I had been more focused on covering Helena, and that voice could never mistaken. I didn’t even need to look at his face to know he had a dirty smirk playing on his lips.
“Matteo” I called, my eyes meeting his and he smiled but I didn’t return it. My eyes flicked to his suitcase and I had totally forgotten he was coming back to Algreen Cove after spending a few years in New York city, but he was my cousin and family was always welcome home.
“Hello cousin, you sure didn’t forget I was flying in today now did you?” he said, still with a smile that didn’t reflect on kindness. Matteo was a cunning bastard that always got on my nerves. He had a baby face with kind eyes that could turn sour in a second depending on his mood switch. Manipulation came easy to him because he could draw people in with niceties and leave them high and dry. He was a little bit of a psychopath, maybe even more ruthless than I am but he was family and still a great asset to the D’angelo family I knew that, he knew that, everyone knew that.
“You weren’t supposed to come here” I said back, my eyes fixed on me but he wasn’t looking at me, he had his eyes fixed on Helena and I felt my jaw ticking in annoyance.
“Paulo is boring and besides you have the nicer house, Paulo has no pool. What the hell am I supposed to do there?”
“We have two other houses in the city, take your pick”
He waved me off, obviously not paying attention but now making his attention on Helena more obvious who equally was giving him a curious glance and he flicked his gaze to me for a second obviously demanding an introduction.
“Who’s the beauty wait is that Helena? She looks different, definitely not a fattie anymore”
Fucking Matteo, I could punch him right there in the face but I was still naked, a determined hand placed over my flaccid dick
“Wait are you guys back together – I thought ”
“Matteo” I warned, the venom visible in my voice but the thing with Matteo was, he didn’t just give a fuck so he didn’t seem bothered but my tone so I turned to Helena instead.
“That’s my cousin Matteo” I was sure they had met already somehow, when we got married the first time.
She looked at him, a simple smile playing on her face “Nice to meet you again. I would shake your hand but I’m not properly, I’m sure you can understand” then she stood up, thankfully she was tiny enough that my shirt looked like a gown on her and she wasn’t showing any part of her that I didn’t want Matteo see.
Matteo smirked at her and then she turned to leave, but she stopped half way and turned back to face him “Wait, I remember you. Weren’t you the one that got too drunk at the wedding and had a really embarrassing fall in front of everyone and puked on a bridesmaid” she looked at him, a slight smile forming on her face. Oh she was fiery one.
But I knew Matteo, he wasn’t one you could embarrass so easily without getting his lick back. So when he smiled back at her, the sweetest ever, I knew he was going to do something stupid. Helena turned to leave, and Matteo turned to look at me and the timing was impeccable, just before Helena could disappear up the stairs he said.
“Gianna says hi, she misses you”
Fucking bastard!
