6. Escape
Kim woke up the moment the man woke up but she kept her eyes closed as she listened to his movements and when he left the bathroom, she was aware of all he did but she kept her breathing even and lay there until she felt the door close behind him.
Then she sprang to action.
She had enjoyed herself and her muscles were sore everywhere but she had to get away.
She didn’t want to be attached to anyone and she also knew that this was going to be a one night thing and so, she wore her clothes that had been neatly folded and placed on a table on the couch in the room and then took her shoes and held them.
She then opened the door slowly and after closing it, she chanced a look downstairs thinking that she could sneak out but the man and other men in black suits were around what looked like a dining table and she knew that she would be caught if she tried leaving through the front door.
She went back and looked around and then noticed a door at the end of the corridor and she opened it and then smiled.
It was a terrace and the rails weren’t long and after looking around, she knew she could make it down if she jumped since she was just on the first floor and then she saw a pipe.
She smiled and within a minute, she was jumping over the fence on the back side of the mansion by stacking the pails she found there and she was grateful that there wasn’t a house on the other side but a small patch of trees.
She hailed a taxi when she got to the main road and went home and then called her two employees and told them to hold the fort. She knew that even if she went to work, she would not do anything seeing how sore she was.
She took a long soak in the bathtub, ordered takeout and after she ate, she just went to bed and switched off her phone.

“What’s wrong boss?” Jamal asked meekly as he walked to his boss’ bedroom.
“Find her!” The man bellowed.
That’s when Jamal noticed that there was no one in the bed and that the bed had been neatly made as if no one had slept on it.
“Yes boss,” Jamal answered and left.
“You have an hour,” he heard his boss add and he moved faster.
“Check the CCTV and see how she left,” was the first command he made when he left his boss’ room.
“You and you, go back to the bar and find out all you can about the woman we brought back last night. You have twenty minutes,” Jamal ordered and then went to the security room and he was amazed to see how the girl climbed down using the pipe and then climbed over the fence.
If Kim knew that the residence had security cameras all over, maybe she would have thought twice before leaving and maybe avoided them.
Then again, she wasn’t committing any crime.
Jamal waited as he paced back and forth in the security room and he didn’t want to leave lest he met with his boss.
Within thirty minutes, the two men who had been sent to Pat’s bar called and they gave her details.
Kimberly Chen
23 this year
No boyfriend
Lives at 2345 West Astonia on Rulia Street
She had a small motor garage on Vadhis Road.
Jamal heaved a sigh of relief and went to his boss.
The man was already in a suit and this was the boss Jamal knew: grumpy and always angry.
There was no hint of the man they all had seen when he woke up.
“Boss, we have found where she lives,” Jamal said in a small voice after he entered.
“Let’s go,” The boss said and walked out of the room and Jamal followed and when they got downstairs, six other men followed them and three cars were ready and the boss got in the last one with Jamal and another man taking the front seats with Jamal in the shotgun and the other one as the driver.
The others divided themselves between the two other cars.
They then drove out.
Within twenty minutes, they were already in front of Kim’s Repair and Spare Parts and when the two ladies saw three cars in front of their shop, they ran outside ready to welcome customers.
And then, before their eyes, this tall, handsome, finely cut man walked out of one of the cars and several men alighted from the others and the aura he was giving off clearly showed that he was the boss.
“Who’s that?” One girl asked the other one.
“I don’t know though he looks vaguely familiar,” the other one answered.
“Hello ladies? I am Elyes Cullen and I am looking for Kim Chen,” he said with a smile that had the two mesmerised and for a minute, they just stood there looking at him.
“Why is he competing with the sun?” One asked the other in what she thought was a whisper but the man who was standing barely a metre from then heard her.
“I… errm… ahem… sorry but boss called in sick today. Can we help you in any way?” The second one answered with a blush.
“Okay. In case she comes, hand her this card and ask her to call me,” the man said and Jamal handed them a card and the two stood there as they watched the men get into their cars and drive away.
“Was it a dream?” The one who answered Elyes asked.
“No. He gave us a card,” the other one said with a giggle.
“He’s so handsome. Let me see that. Elyes Cullen, Cullen Real Estate …. O. MG.! I remember him now!” The one who took the card shouted in excitement and then she stopped all of a sudden as if she had been doused in cold water.
“What’s wrong?” The other one asked.
“Elyes Cullen… why would the mafia be looking for Kim? We have to call her,” she said and then they both ran inside the shop and she took her phone and dialled Kim’s number.
“Switched off? What the… why would she switch off her phone at a time like this?”
“Do you think they know where she lives?”
“Maybe. He’s from the mafia and no one in this town doesn’t know of his name though not many have ever seen him.”
“I don’t think so. If they did, they wouldn’t have left their card.”
“And by Elyes you mean The Lion?”
“One and Only.”
“We have to warn her. Stay here. I am going to her condo to warn her.”
“Okay. Be careful.”
