Sounds promising…
**Veronica’s POV**
“So what do you think about Ashley?”
“Who?”
“Ashley, you know, the slave who’s claiming rights over Lucas and Simon.”
“Oh her. To be honest, my lady, I really do not like her one bit.” I sat up straight, my interest piqued by what Amara had to say.
“Oh really? Tell me more,” I said, taking a small bite of the ice cream in my hand.
“Well, right from the very first day she got here, she caused each and every one of us to get a surprising increase in duties. Alpha Lucas kept making it a point for her to be well taken care of. Not to mention the fact that she always felt so high and mighty, being so close and in the good books of his highness, Lucas. A while back, she got into a fight with Mira, and she nearly killed her.”
“Oh my goodness, when did this happen? Was I in the house yet?”
“No, my lady, you weren’t here back then. It was such a crazy experience, and thankfully I wasn’t involved in all the drama. I remember I was busy in the kitchen with a few others when we suddenly heard a commotion in the living room. When we went to check what was happening, we found her on top of Mira, hitting her really badly. Some of them had to drag, hit, and even forcefully pull her away, but she just wouldn’t stop. She kept going on and on, hitting Mira like she was a punching bag. If his highness Lucas hadn’t shown up that day, I honestly don’t know what would have happened to her in the hands of that lady.”
“So she even has a history of hitting people. That bitch!”
“I’m speaking for everyone when I say that absolutely no one wants her around. It’s just such a shame that we’re going to be stuck with her for as long as only the goddess herself knows.”
“Why wait for an unsure miracle to happen when we can handle things ourselves?”
“What do you mean, my lady?”
“We need to do something to get her out of this house, and it’s already so nice that we’re both on the same page.”
“I still don’t quite understand, my lady.”
“Oh, come on, don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. You do not like Ashley, and neither do I. You want her out of this house as soon as possible, and so do I.”
“Okay?”
“So all we need to do is work together and find something we can do to get her out of this house.”
“But my lady, you know his highnesses will never let her leave like that. If we even think of laying a finger on her, we’ll get into trouble. What am I even saying? You are their future Queen, so they wouldn’t want to dishonor you, but I will completely lose everything.” I sighed deeply, shaking my head as I looked at her. She was already poor and not well off financially; in fact, she practically had nothing to say the least. So why add stupidity to the list of the problems she had?
“Oh my goodness, Amara, are you seriously kidding me right now? You know, I always thought you were smart, and that working here as a domestic worker didn’t stop you from being very intelligent, but seriously, you’re proving me wrong right now.”
“What? My lady, I…”
“No, don’t say anything. It’s fine, I’ll just spell it out for you then.” I listened in to be sure no one was around to hear our discussion and what I was about to say to her. My wolf could sense someone walking past the room, so I remained quiet for a while. As soon as I finally got clearance that nobody else was around, I then spoke up.
“So, what I am trying to say is that the both of us can work together to carry out a plan that would make Ashley look so bad that both Simon and Lucas would, by themselves, throw her out. Since she already has a history of making trouble in this house, then all we need to do is rekindle old flames and make things even worse for her.”
“Oh okay, that sounds promising,” she responded, and I smiled at how cooperative she was with the whole thing. “So what do you suggest we do, my lady?”
“I have a plan, but I won’t be sharing it with you just yet. When it’s the right time, I will definitely let you know what it’s about. For now, just do everything I tell you to do without asking any questions and we’ll be good, okay?”
“Yes, my lady.”
“Good.” I dropped the ice cream tub that I had been eating from back on the tray and motioned for her to take it away. “Now take this away, I’m already sick of it right now.”
She got up from the bed and grabbed the tray, taking it out with her. I stood up from the bed and went over to the mirror to look at myself.
“Stunning,” I chuckled, looking at my own reflection in the mirror. “If I didn’t know better, I would have said I am actually the most innocent person that ever lived.” Letting out a laugh, I looked back at myself in the mirror. This time, I softly touched my face as I stared even deeper at my own reflection.
“So pretty! Dainty yet dangerous, if I must say.” I remained on the spot for a while until Amara walked back in to continue cleaning. At this point, it almost seemed like forever just having her in the room, so I urged her to get on with her work very quickly.
“I don’t know how long you have been here, but I’m getting tired of your face, so clean up very quickly and leave. I want to be alone,” I ordered, and she curtsied in response.
“Yes, my lady.” I stepped away from the mirror since she was still going to clean the dressing table, which had the mirror sitting carefully on it. While she continued with her work, I took off the dress I had on. Holding it in my hand, I frowned as it was actually a gift Simon had given me a while back. I had worn it in the hurry I got ready. Amidst all the haste I had to go through, one thing was for sure, and that was the fact that I had wanted to surprise Simon with the dress. My intention was to have him see me wearing it for the important event and instantly become happy and loving with me like he used to. Things, however, went completely south, and instead, all my efforts went down the drain within the space of a couple of seconds.
I returned the dress to my closet and took out the one I had on before. By the time I returned to the room, Amara had already left, and honestly, the alone time was exactly what I needed at that point.
I lay on the bed and turned my phone back on. While I waited for the phone to come on, I smiled at the little step I had already taken towards getting my way. Slowly but steadily, I would get as many people on my side as I needed to completely take down Ashley and have Lucas and Simon all to myself.
“That stupid Amara,” I laughed out loud as I lay back flat on the bed. “It’s honestly such a wicked world that we live in, come to think of it. But what can we do? She’s going to be the one giving me all the information that I will be needing, but at the end of the day, once I’m done getting all I want from her, she’s going to have to leave as well. I definitely wouldn’t want to risk having someone who can potentially stand as an obstacle to me later in the future. That wouldn’t be wise of me now, would it?” Laughing out one more time, I shrugged my shoulders at the thoughts that had already started cooking up in my mind.
I looked back at my phone and saw that it had already come back on. Grabbing it carefully, I checked for any phone calls or messages that might have been sent while I was away, and I was honestly very surprised to see a couple of missed calls and messages from not just my parents but also my close friends.
Looking at every single one of these messages, all I kept seeing was about what had been buzzing on the internet and whether I had seen what was going on.
“What? Is something going on that’s making everyone so psyched? Besides, why is everyone asking me to ch…” I was not able to finish my statement when a notification popped up, and it was related to none other than the grand mall opening activities that Ashley had going on with Lucas and Simon.
“Oh no, she didn’t!”
