CHAPTER 16

Book:The Lycan King's Fated Mate Published:2024-12-1

What’s going on?
Time moved on, and it moved by pretty fast. The long-awaited mating season had started, and the mansion was definitely not as it used to be. Over the past couple of days, Veronica had unfortunately moved in to stay in the mansion, and that was most definitely the worst thing that happened during this period. As I went about my daily activities, Veronica always found one way or another to make things difficult for me, but thankfully, she never attempted to harm me like she did before.
Right before the mating season began, I couldn’t help but notice that both Simon and Lucas spent quite a lot of time in their respective bedrooms, and this went on for as long as I could remember. As this went on, I got even more curious as to why they were doing that, and it was not until I had gone into Simon’s room to clean it that I found out why.
When I got there, the room was obviously empty, and as soon as I stepped inside, my wolf was instantly heightened. Simon’s lingering scent gave me the feeling that he was actually in the room with me, and as I looked around to confirm it, I noticed a few scratch marks on the door. However, I didn’t pay much attention to them since they weren’t too prominent. Taking my broom and dustpan, I went straight to sweeping the floors and dusting the room. The more I stayed in the room, the more awoken my wolf got, but for some weird reason, I actually loved the feeling. I finished cleaning up and decided to relax a bit. Sitting on the bed, I looked around and smiled in satisfaction just being in Simon’s room. Getting a bit more comfortable, I laid back flat on the bed, my legs by the edge, swinging just above the ground. I was humming a song with my eyes closed, so lost in my world that I didn’t realize when Simon had actually returned to the room.
Still laid on the bed, I remained clueless until my wolf senses got piqued again. Unlike the other time when I entered the room, this was much stronger, and my wolf eventually exclaimed, “mate.” I jerked up from the bed, obviously not ready to have him start with his tantrums again. Who was I even kidding? It’s Simon; of course, he was going to yell or get me punished one way or another for having the audacity to sit and, even worse, lay on his bed.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice raspy and his countenance rather calm.
“I… oh I… cleaning, yes! I was, um, cleaning, and in fact, I just finished, so I will be taking my leave now,” I said quickly, rushing to get the broom and the dustpan I had come in with.
“Wait,” he said, and I slowly turned to face him, fearing what he was going to do next.
“Yes, my king?” He carefully walked towards me, and the closer he got, the more nervous and anxious I became.
“Why are you always in a hurry to leave me? Am I so much of a monster?”
“Hmm?” For a moment, I thought I had actually developed some hearing problems. I didn’t want to believe that I had heard right, so I wiggled my ears, trying to understand if it was really my imagination or if Simon had actually asked why I was always in a hurry to leave his presence.
“Talk to me, Ashley,” he said, pinning me close to the wall with his hands slowly grabbing onto my waist. This time, I felt all the hair on my skin instantly rise as his hands tactically scanned through my waist down to my hips. Although I was loving every bit of this Simon in front of me, I still had doubts about what was really going on with him. Since I was brought into the house, he had never once called out my name. It was so obvious that one would actually think my name was a plague he had been running away from so violently.
“Talk to me. All you do is go after Lucas. Am I bad?” he continued, whispering his words into my neck. As he spoke, I could already feel my resolve slowly starting to drop as the warmth of his breath hit my skin. I couldn’t tell just how he was making me feel so much at the same time, but I wanted him so much, and there was no denying that.
“Oh, um, I…”
“Sure, I never liked you when you came into the house, but you are still mine just as much as you are Lucas’s.” Hearing him mention Lucas’s name, I instantly snapped back to reality, and the senses I had just previously lost instantly came back to me.
“What? I’m really sorry, my king, but I have to return to work,” I said, quickly rushing out of the room. I knew he wouldn’t be fine with me leaving, but I still ran out anyway. I’d take whatever punishment he chose to give me afterward, but staying in that room with him like that was just going to make me do things that no one would want given the circumstances between us in the mansion.
I couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if Veronica had actually walked in on Simon being like that with me. She could have completely lost it and killed me right then and there. Or wait, could this be some sort of prank they were both pulling on me? I asked myself, finally regaining the remnant of my sense which I had so carelessly dropped back in Simon’s room.
“Well, prank or no prank, I cannot deny that I extremely love what had just happened between us.” I smiled, touching the part of my waist he had grabbed to remind myself of the ecstatic feeling from not long ago. Everything about his body language and manner of approach felt so good. I loved the way he kept coming close to me instead of how he would usually stay far away from me before. However, I just couldn’t dismiss the possibility that it all wasn’t true. With everything he had put me through in the house over the past couple of weeks that I had been here, of course, I would be skeptical about anything like this from him. As soon as I was out of his room, I couldn’t help but say a short prayer of help to the moon goddess. If this was some sort of test, then I didn’t want to go through it at all, at least for the sake of my mental health.
In fact, what was even with this whole worrying I was having about the whole thing? At this point, I had nothing to lose, so I just didn’t want to care about the downside of the whole situation. If it was actually just an illusion, then let me keep living in that illusion for as long as it would last. Smiling once more, I then started making my way back downstairs to continue with what I was doing.
When it got to dinner time, I was surprisingly invited to join them at the table by none other than Simon. As soon as everybody heard this, the whole house was in complete shock. For one, it was not expected for someone like me to even think of sitting with the least person in the royal family, not to talk of the Kings of the Lycanthrope. Then again, this invitation was coming from someone who completely despised me and all that concerned me.
“Come on, I believe you wouldn’t want to refuse my invitation as your king, right?” he asked, and I looked around the room in shock. There were not too many people in the room; it was just myself, Simon, Lucas, Veronica, Madam Mortica, and a couple of other maids who were also serving at the dinner table just as I was. All in all, the room wasn’t filled with a lot of people, but I still felt so many eyes on me.
“Here, please sit,” Lucas said, offering me the seat which was close to him and opposite Simon. Very slowly, I walked closer to the table, still trying to process what the heck was going on. Although I had said I wasn’t going to care about what Simon was doing and the changes he was exhibiting, this, however, wasn’t something I could just dismiss, especially since it was in front of everybody else. I got seated at the table and could already feel the fiery glare coming from Veronica. She angrily put a spoonful of salad into her mouth and gulped it very intentionally. I tried as much as possible to ignore her, but even without speaking, she was demanding my attention so much that I felt hot on my seat even though she was some distance away. I was about to serve myself something really small so I could finish it up and leave the table as soon as possible when Lucas stopped me and called for another maid to come help with it.
I gulped nervously as this went on, as there was little to nothing I could do about it, especially when it was coming from the Lycan twin Kings. I quietly remained seated as the food was served onto a plate for me. I took very small bites as I ate, obviously feeling out of place at the table. Lucas, who had noticed this, carefully placed a hand on my thigh to encourage me, and it was actually working until I felt a foot gently tickling mine. I traced the owner back to Simon, and the food already in my mouth struggled to go down my throat as he continued teasing me with his leg. At this point in time, I was completely aroused, and it made me wonder just how much effect Simon actually had on me.
Lucas had literally touched my thigh, and instead of feeling funny and all that, I instead felt comforted by it. However, all Simon did was to move his leg around mine for just a short while, and I was completely aroused by it. In fact, everything almost seemed like Simon actually had an on and off button for me because it was just too precise every single time it happened.
“We all eventually ate dinner in silence. However, only I knew what I was going through with both brothers having not just their food, but also my legs for dinner as well. As soon as we were all done, I quickly got up and started packing the plates, but Lucas stopped me.
“No, Ashley, it’s fine. You really do not have to clean up after us,” he said, holding onto my hand as I lifted up the plate. Simon, on the other hand, did not have a single emotion written on his face. He just quietly wiped his mouth and made his way upstairs to his room. Veronica looked at Lucas, and after a while, she turned to face me. It seemed like she was actually going to say something to me, but she eventually held it back and then made her way towards the stairs just as Simon had done, with an unpleasant expression on her face.
Since it was finally just Lucas and I left in the dining room, he then grabbed the plates in my hands and dropped them back on the table.
“You know what, just leave these here and let’s go for a walk in the garden. It’s a cool evening, and I think it would really do us both some good,” he said, and after contemplating for a while, I decided to agree. After all, I did need the connection with nature to help clear my mind of so many things.
“Oh, alright then.” Together, we both made our way out, and as expected, whispers started moving around all over the house.
