Lilith
I thought I had died.
I thought it was all over.
The moment my eyes flung open, I found myself on the floor, coughing hard.
Everywhere was blurry, and I couldn’t make our ant object.
Was I in heaven?
But the next moment, a resounding slap landed on my wet face, and I regained my sight instantly.
Tears slipped from my face when I locked gaze with the security man whose cloth was drenched in water while my father and my stepmother’s clothes were dried.
Delilah’s mother was now my stepmother. It was funny how her status shifted quickly.
I knew I shouldn’t believe all that my father had said. I knew he made up some parts of his words.
I never considered my mother to be someone manipulative.
She was as sweet and as gentle as a dove.
Life must have been hard on her after everything she went through in this horrible house.
I was jerked off my thoughts by another slap, and I sprang to my feet, hurrying off to stay behind the security man who had a sad look plastered on his face.
He itched to help me. But at the same time, he was scared for his life.
“Should I call 911?” he asked in sign language with his hands clasped behind his back as he demonstrated with his fingers.
“No. It’s my fight, not yours,” I responded, taking a deep breath while his shoulders slumped.
“I’m sorry all this is happening to you.”
“It’s fine. Maybe I should have heeded your warnings and never stepped into this house-” I had barely finished when my stepmother angrily launched at me, but the blow was absorbed by the security man.
A sad smile formed on my lips as I understood that he was trying to help me without drawing attention to himself.
“That bitch ruined my phone!” Delilah yelled, running to attack me.
“You almost killed my daughter, I will make sure I kill you this instant!” my step mother threatened, pouncing on me like a tiger with her nails digging into my skin.
“Call the cops! She will spend the rest of her life in jail, I swear by my Jane mother’s grave. I will not spare her!”
“Call the cops Delilah!” She urged again, maddened with raw rage. She was like a volcano about to explode.
“Like you were blind when your silly little precious daughter pushed me first. Come on, call the fucking cops. The evidence is on the damn phone!” I screamed, challenging them without an atom of fear with my hands clasped around my chest as my chest rose and fell heavily.
“I stayed in the water for more than 15 minutes, yet you did nothing! I retaliated against her actions and now you are going wild?! What kind of sick people are you?!”
“Little girl, watch your tongue!” My father warned, his voice screaming danger.
“I am not afraid of you. Hurt me all you want!”
“And what is the evidence that she pushed you?” My step mother interrupted.
I knew the game she was playing. But I was better at it than her.
“Spare me that bullshit, she was live the whole time. I’m sure hee followers would have something to say about it because they all witnessed it,” I fired, cocking my head as I basked in pride.
It felt good returning their negative energy and showing them that I wasn’t afraid anymore.
Those days were over.
“I can testify against them. I witnessed everything too,” the security man communicated through sign language, but I waved him off.
I didn’t want to drag him into my shitty life.
“The evidence is at the bottom of the pool. It is now damaged by water. I can tell them that you tried to attack her by snatching the money in her hands but since she won’t give you, so you got mad and started fighting with her. Then she retaliated by pushing you which was an act of self defense. What you committed was attempted murder and when we go to court, I will win the case against you.” My step mother said in a scheming way, smirking dangerously.”
I cocked my head, looking her deep in the eyes with anger written all over my reddened face. “You must be so dumb not to understand what being live means. I feel so sorry for you and your sick daughter. You can go to hell for all I care!” I spat, hurling those hurtful words at her and returning the smirk.
“Did you see the way she insulted me, honey?” she pretended to cry, holding her chest as if she was in pain before patting her face with her fingers as if wiping the invisible tears.
“You don’t get to insult my family!” My father grunted, landing his rough hands on my face.
“What sort of father treats his daughter this cruelly?”
Unable to bear it, the security man left silently, tears burning his eyes.
“I’m calling the cops and I can assure you that you will rot in jail,” Delilah said, sniffing hard as she shivered.
“I don’t give a fuck,” I replied, grinding my teeth hard as I noticed that the security man planned my escape by opening the gate and communicating with me to leave if I didn’t want to get into bigger troubles.
“And Mr Parker, you will regret this. This will be the last time I step my feet in your shitty house. But I can assure you that we don’t need you or your stupid money. We are better off without you.”
“You are dead to me. All of you!”
With those words, I dashed out of Mr Parker’s house when I heard the sirens from a distance.
He really had the balls to watch Delilah call the cops on me?!
I kept running until the wails of the siren disappeared into the thin air.
When I had found a safe spot at a park, I sat on a bench to catch my breath for some minutes before pulling my phone out.
My heart skipped a beat when I remembered how long I stayed under water with my phone.
I must have been damaged! What would I tell Alpha Casper?!
To even think that the Samsung 24 ultra was a fucking expensive phone.
To my uttermost surprise, my phone worked perfectly. Thank God for water resistance.
Dialing Daphne’s number, I placed the phone on my ears, clasping my. teeth together to stop them from chattering loudly.
I had to act fast before I lost today penniless.
Ricky would kill me if I don’t have his money ready in the next 2 days and a few hours.
I blinked back the tears that threatened to spill down my eyes as Daphne’s words floated in my ears.
I didn’t have a choice and there was no option left.
I couldn’t ask Alpha Casper, he had done more than enough and I didn’t want to appear like a gold digger.
“Hy, Daphne,” I breathed, taking a deep breath.
“Hy Lily, are you okay? You sound like you caught a cold,” she answered, her voice dripping with concern. “Where are you? I can hear you shivering.”
“Long story. I called for another reason,” I chimed in, diverting her attention.
“How was the meeting with your dad? Did he give you the money?”
I heaved a deep sigh as the events flashed in my head before I shrugged. “Terrible. I should have listened to you.”
“What happened?” She gasped in shock.
“Long story. I will tell you later. I just called about that site you told me about. The one where you please your clients online.” I said, trying to jolt her memory.
“The one you said you will never participate because-”
“I’m in now!” I blurted desperately.
“Where can I meet you so that you can teach me everything I need to know?”
“I’m at home, but why the change of mind?”
“I have 2 days and a few hours left to pay Ricky’s loan. If I don’t, he will kill me and my family!”
*****
I went home feeling exhausted after learning everything that Daphne taught me about the site. She felt sorry after I told her my ordeal at my father’s house.
I still had a bad thought about the site, but that was the only choice I had.
I didn’t want to die.
“Where have you been all day? I’ve been combing the estate for you?” Alpha Casper’s voice jolted me. Suddenly, I became conscious of the marks on my face and I needed to hide it desperately.
The last thing I wanted to hear were his unending questions.
“I went to see a friend. I’m so tired.” I faked a yawn, stretching my hands as I hastened upstairs to change and apply make up.
Shit!
I didn’t have make-up.
Maybe I would steal makeup in Marina’s room since she had plenty of them.
“Why are you wet? Did you fall into a pool or something?” He demanded, but when I was about to hide my face, he yanked me closer to himself.
His eyes almost bulged out of their sockets as he examined my red cheeks and his anger filled the air like a thick cloud of dust.
“Who did this to you?!”
