Chapter 66
Lilith
Don’t worry about our rival. He is dead. All of them. Anyone who tries to snatch you from us will end up the same way. You belong to us only!
Air seized from my lungs, making me gasp for breath as I froze on the spot.
My soul almost jumped off my body as chills ran down my spine. It felt like a bag of ice was thrown over me.
My face grew ashen, and blood drained from my skin.
Damn you, Calix.
I was about to dash out of my room, into Alpha Casper’s warm embrace for protection when I realized that he was still kept hidden.
I missed him.
Snap out of it, Lilith!
I scolded myself when tears started to flow freely from my face.
It wasn’t time to brood.
I had to protect myself from Calix. Alpha Casper wouldn’t always be available.
Throughout the day, I remained in my room, except when I was hungry and went downstairs into the kitchen to grab the food that would last me for a week. Luckily, I found another kitchen on the last floor with all the appliances I needed, which I took into my room.
Scanning through Alpha Casper’s drawer, I pulled out weapons I would use to defend myself in case that bastard Calix comes.
A thought flew into my head to invite Anna over to the last floor, but I shrugged it off.
I was the one most wanted, not Anna.
Picking up a few knives, bullets, a gun, and a baseball bat, I stride into my room. Arranging the weapons closely to my side while the knives were placed into my drawer.
After watching a couple of videos on YouTube, I loaded the gun successfully, placing it carefully on the nightstand beside the bed.
Relief swept through me when I heard Anna locking all the doors.
Getting up to my feet, I locked the door, shutting the windows and turning the light off. Darkness swallowed up the room.
My heartbeat accelerated as I switched off my phone before laying to sleep.
Any message from Calix would make me lose my mind.
Not too long, I drifted to sleep, snoring softly, until the sneaky sound of footsteps filled my ears.
I tossed in my sleep, waving the thought off. It must be one of my weird dreams.
But the footsteps grew clearer each time. I could tell the person was near.
My eyes flashed open when I heard attempts on the door knob.
Calix was here to take me!
Fear overtook me, and beads of sweat dropped from my head.
My palms grew moist, and my heart raced at an accelerated speed.
Gathering courage, I snaked my hands quietly, grabbing the gun from the nightstand before opening the drawer.
My hands trembled as I tried to pull it noiselessly. I grabbed a knife, tucking it on the band of my joggers before covering it with my shirt, sitting at the edge of the bed, awaiting Calix.
Claws scratched against the door noisily.
My shoulders were tense, and I almost jumped off the bed when a loud kick landed by the side of the door.
I got up, hiding behind the door with the gun at it.
I would fucking blow anyone’s head off before he gets to enter inside.
One last push and the door flung open widely.
Chills rushed into me as I shut my eyes, raising the gun and firing it into the darkness.
I fired it again in the direction of Calix’s figure before opening my eyes.
My breath turned into short pants as my chest rose and fell heavily.
A familiar voice permeated into the night, echoing throughout the hall and panic gripped me.
Walking towards the direction of the sound with the gun pointing at it, I flipped the switch and light flooded the room.
A loud scream tore from my lips when I locked gaze with the person laying on the floor. He looked like he had a bloodbath.
“Alpha Casper!”
I flung the gun away at once, tossing the knife beneath my shirt to the floor as I scooped Alpha Casper into my hands, examining his body. Luckily, he wasn’t injured by the bullets.
“Help me, Lilith.” He managed to speak as his voice came out faintly.
“Alpha, how did you escape?”
Several questions ran through my head, but he was too weak to respond.
He remained in my hands, barely moving and body was stained with his blood.
“Help me, Lilith.” He whispered faintly again.
“The curse…my life…is slipping away…help…me.”
I struggled to string his words together.
Tears burned from my eyes and I didn’t know when I brushed his hair off his face and kissed him passionately.
His low grunts pulled me away as I didn’t want to hurt him.
I was about to drag him to my bed when surprise hit me like a ton of bricks.
He was healing slowly right before my eyes!
How was this possible?
Was he my mate?!
*****
Two weeks later
Untangling from Alpha Casper’s body carefully to avoid jolting him awake, I yanked the curtains open in preparation for his massage.
For 2 weeks, Alpha Casper had been undergoing his healing process, although it was slow, but there was a huge progress.
Despite Raphael’s disapproval and threats, he stayed with me for 14 days until he regained strength.
It was now an open secret that there was something going on between Alpha Casper and I, but no one said a word about it.
Raphael’s hatred towards me increased daily as a result of the relationship between the Alpha and I and Anna became somewhat distant.
Grabbing my phone, I placed it on silent before disappearing into the bathroom.
My heart skipped 2 beats when Ricky’s name was displayed across the screen.
How could I be so occupied with Alpha Casper’s treatment that I forgot I had a huge debt to pay.
A sad sigh rolled off my lips before I answered the call.
“It’s 2 weeks already, Lilith,” Ricky’s unfriendly voice pierced into my ears, making me cringe. “I hope my money is ready.”
Words failed me and my throat became dry instantly. Fear crept in me when I remembered I didn’t have a dime on me.
“Hy, Ricky. How are you? How was-”
“Save the pleasantries for later. Where the hell is my money?!” He roared angrily like an injured beast. I could hear his heavy breathing through the speaker.
“I am…working on it…” I stammered, searching for the right words.
“You know what happens to people that fail to keep their promise?” He threatened, making dread overwhelm me.
Chills ran down my spine as I swallowed hard, awaiting his judgment.
“They die gruesomely!”
