A return to Earth

EPILOGUE
It was a rocky year for all of us, but we persevered. It took months to convince the people of the kingdom to accept hybrids. A fight broke out about it, but luckily, everything was sorted out before things could escalate any further. Though there were people who were still against the hybrids, they weren’t enough to stop my mates from passing a new law. The hybrids didn’t need to hide anymore. With the law, they were free to live among the others or stay back in their town.
They chose the latter. Having made a life in the small town, they were reluctant to leave. Though they occasionally went to the kingdoms to purchase things, they still returned to their home. To them, it was more than home. The sanctuary my mates created for them was the first place they ever felt safe in.
With the kingdom in peace, we had our wedding in the throne room, not the old one, of course. Because of the number of deaths in the palace and the bad memories my mates had of the place, they pulled the building down and erected a hospital there.
They built a new palace far from where the old one once stood. It wasn’t easy to do that as they had to create another portal that led from the palace to our human house, but they did it.
We got married a few days after the new palace was opened, and Da Ankora conducted my coronated as queen the day after my wedding. Devon came over for the celebration, but he didn’t stay long as he had a kid he was helping through his first shift. Devon was now working in the new hospital and oversaw the paediatric ward.
So, he was a busy man. I had visited him thrice since the time he left but stopped when I realized I wasn’t helping him at all. Each time I visited, I would catch him looking at me with a sad expression of longing. I discovered he still loved me and was having a difficult time keeping the affection to himself. Keeping my distance from him was the best solution I could come up with.
Chris, on the other hand, was now dating a werewolf. I didn’t even know how that worked out. I believe they met when I sent her on a scouting mission and somehow clicked. Though she still made time for me while dating, I knew she was having a difficult time shuffling between the palace and her new home, so I set her free.
Unlike the first three times I tried to let her go, she didn’t argue with me about it. She knelt, kissed the backs of my palms, and placed her head on my feet before she left.
Though she visited us weekly, she was no longer bound by her vows. She only came over because of the kids, who were surprisingly growing faster.
In their 8th month, they had already started running. At one year old, they could run and climb tables like pros. The only issue they had was talking. They only knew how to call me, my mates, Chris and Chrys. That was all. My mates said they would eventually start speaking when they reached 2 years, and I was patiently waiting for that, together with Chrys who looked like she couldn’t wait for them to talk.
“Are you ready?!” my mates yelled from downstairs.
“Just give me a few minutes!” I yelled back as I tied my hair up in a bun. I stared into the mirror at the woman looking back at me. A year plus in Lyxant had changed me. Though the change wasn’t that much, I could still see them.
I dabbed a blush on my cheeks before I left the room, rushing out to meet my mates who were patiently waiting downstairs for me with the kids.
“Mum!” Aria called out as she ran over to me. Her silver eyes shone as I scooped her up and spun her around. She giggled as her hair changed to yellow. Her hair changes colours with her mood, just like Devon’s, but the meaning behind each change differs from his.
Her hair turns pink when she’s angry, black when she’s mischievous, white when she’s shy, and yellow when she’s happy. We have only seen it turn green once, and that was when Chrys dragged her by the legs. We couldn’t tell that one was out of pain or anger.
My mates said we would have enough time to study her as she grows.
I put my giggling daughter down as I held Kaius up before I carried Elijah. Just like their sisters, they giggled as I twirled them around. The last one I carried was Chrys. The little darling had gotten bigger over the year, but still liked to be carried. She giggled as I spun her around before I placed her back on the ground.
With the kids satisfied, I turned over to my mates with my brows raised. “So, are we leaving, or do you want me to carry you also?” I chuckled when they shook their heads, undoubtedly recalling the time I held them up with my power. It was the last time they asked to have a spar with me.
“Let’s go.” Blue carried Elijah and Aria while Fred carried Chrys and Kaius. “It’s time to grace the Earth with our outstanding presence again,” Blue said as he walked over to the door that would lead us home.
It was my children’s first time going to Earth, and I was super excited about it. I couldn’t wait for them to see the place I grew up in, to feel the warm sun of Earth on them as they ran through the tall grasses.
My mates promised we would stay over for a week, and I was excited about what we would do there. Chris and her lover might join us later, but that’s still under probability.
As I stepped in behind my mates, I let out a sigh. Finally, I was returning to Earth, to a place that had been my home for 23 years. As we stepped out to the other side and I felt the familiar smell in the air, my face broke into a smile as I turned to my babies.
“Welcome to Earth, my darling. A place your mum once called home…”
