Holding the little girl, Darnell felt a chill run down his spine. “Damn! Bandits.”
One glance at their stance and gun-holding posture, and he knew these three men were not ordinary thugs but seasoned killers.
Their skills even surpassed those of plainclothes police officers.
He glanced down at the little girl, who was pretty and lively. Her eyes were filled with fear as she called out, “Daddy!.”
The crystal ball in her hand rolled away, and she cried out to retrieve it. “My ball!”
“Don’t be afraid, little one. It’s okay.”
Darnell placed his hand on her neck and gently pinched it, making her faint instantly. It was better for her not to remember this scene.
He hid the little girl in the parking booth.
At that moment, two plainclothes officers driving the car snapped out of their shock and hastily drew their guns, pointing them at the three bandits. “Freeze!”
They fired shots, but their excitement caused them to miss, failing to hit the advancing bandits.
The three bandits dodged the incoming bullets from the police, then raised their right hands and fired at the minivan.
A barrage of bullets rained down.
The two plainclothes officers in the car barely had time to duck before they heard countless hard objects hitting the vehicle, glass, bodywork, and tires, all making loud noises.
Several fragments flew through a lowered window, grazing the backs of the two officers and leaving numerous wounds.
The window shattered so badly that it was impossible to see through it.
The three bandits fired repeatedly at the cracked window, destroying its bulletproof feature and injuring the two officers inside.
Their coordination was impeccable.
However, the counterattack by the two driving officers bought some time for their four companions to take cover behind the car.
At this point, four lightly injured men and women in black also drew their guns, standard police pistols, and fired at the three bandits. Gunfire erupted.
However, the three bandits reacted swiftly, taking cover behind an ambulance or other obstacles.
Bullets hit the vehicles with loud clangs before falling to the ground.
Smoke filled the air.
In a deafening explosion amid the gunfire from the four in black, the three bandits returned fire. Another explosion followed as countless fragments flew toward them.
A plainclothes officer peeking from behind a tire screamed in pain as fragments covered his head and body with blood streaming down. His fate looked grim.
The other three plainclothes officers quickly sought cover and called for police backup on their phones.
People coming and going from the hospital panicked and hid. A few security guards initially rushed over but quickly turned back upon seeing the scene. They knew this was beyond their capacity but still called for help immediately.
Bystanders ran as far away as possible, while fights might attract onlookers. Gunfights could easily result in stray bullets causing casualties.
“Cover me!”
A female officer with almond-shaped eyes saw a middle-aged man lying in a pool of blood. She shouted for cover and bravely moved forward despite her fear.
This suspect must not die. Otherwise, all their efforts would be in vain, and their fallen colleagues would have died for nothing.
Two plainclothes officers saw her risky move and shouted loudly, “Shea, be careful!”
Shea Hepburn fired five shots in quick succession to suppress the bandits’ firepower before reaching the middle-aged man. He was severely injured but still breathing.
The overturned wheelchair had reduced his injuries from bullets.
She didn’t check his wounds but gritted her teeth and dragged him back while her colleagues provided cover fire.
Amidst smoke and chaos, she managed to pull him behind a stone pillar out of harm’s way.
“Die!”
Just as she set him down, a one-eyed bandit rolled out and fired at her.
With a loud bang, Shea’s body shook violently before falling in front of Darnell.
Darnell saw that she had fainted with her eyes closed. Her back was a bloody mess while her right hand still tightly gripped her gun.
Darnell’s eyes narrowed slightly. He disliked killing people, but today’s situation left him no choice but to act decisively.
By now, relying on their superior firepower, all three bandits advanced while firing alternately at two remaining officers and the middle-aged man.
The one-eyed bandit shouted menacingly, “Leave no one alive.”
They didn’t care when reinforcements would arrive. Their eyes were filled with murderous intent. They were ready to die if necessary today.
Bullets rained down on where two plainclothes officers and the middle-aged man were hiding. They couldn’t lift their heads as fragments surrounded them with some embedding into their bodies, causing blood to seep out. Things looked dire for them against these opponents, who held all advantages over them, completely outmatched by these ruthless killers!
Darnell scanned around quickly. There were almost no unrelated personnel left. All security guards and bystanders had fled far away, and he was currently positioned in a blind spot where he could act without being seen easily by others nearby.
Taking deep breaths calmly before tearing off part of his clothing and wrapping it around his nose and mouth tightly, he grabbed the female officer’s police pistol firmly.
With this grip came an instant transformation within him.
He drew out Bloodlust, readying himself for the battle ahead.
As those three fierce-looking bandits continued pressing forward relentlessly, making the remaining officers unable to raise their heads properly, Darnell sprang forth from shadows like a lightning bolt, catching them off guard completely.
Three fierce bandits only saw a flash of movement, their vision darkened, and a crisp gunshot rang out.
Then, one of the bandits suddenly fell to the ground with a bullet through his forehead, blood flowing incessantly, his eyes wide open but devoid of life.
The remaining two bandits jolted, furious yet disciplined as they rolled away.
Darnell curved his lips into a cold arc filled with battle intent. He kicked hard against the solid object behind him, and his slender body shot out like an arrow off the string.
Rolling on the ground, he raised his gun, and at the corner two meters away, a bandit had just raised his gun to lock onto the target when a bullet pierced his forehead.
His skull burst like a smashed watermelon, red and white spilling out, the scene gory.
Then Darnell swiftly moved his feet, lunging two or three meters sideways.
The one-eyed bandit, who was angrily locking onto Darnell, saw a blur before his eyes, and his target vanished.
When the one-eyed bandit caught sight of Darnell again, Darnell had swept in like a sudden gust of wind.
The one-eyed bandit felt like a primordial beast had suddenly crossed the vastness of time and appeared right in front of him.
The fierce gale on him was so strong it seemed it could blow him over!
He had no time to make any counterattack.
Darnell’s gun was pressed against his forehead. “What is one plus one?”
The one-eyed bandit was stunned and answered, “Two.”
Darnell pulled the trigger without mercy.
As a crisp sound sounded, the head burst open.
The one-eyed bandit fell forward, life extinguished.
His dying gaze was fixed on Darnell, unable to believe that Darnell was such a freak, and he never expected him to actually pull the trigger.
Darnell holstered his weapon. “You knew too much.”
