For restaurant owners, cockroaches were as devastating as the mob.
Seeing the cockroaches scattered across the table, Casey, Bailee, and Shayla instinctively felt nauseous and went to the side to dry heave.
Jett and his group also looked sick, their stomachs churning.
Victoria turned pale, quickly shouting at the surrounding guests, “No filming! No live streaming! Turn off your phones!”
She knew in her heart that whether or not Darnell was behind this, if these clips got out, her restaurant would be out of business, so she shouted at several waiters to turn off their phones.
At that moment, Darnell yelled loudly, “Cockroaches! There were cockroaches in the food!”
“Ouch, my stomach hurts so much. I was poisoned.”
His voice was loud and penetrating, causing a commotion outside, and many guests were terrified, with several new guests who wanted to come in turning around and leaving.
Victoria was extremely angry, her once smiling face gone, staring at Darnell and retorting, “Nonsense!”
“Using such contemptible tactics, isn’t it a bit shameless?”
Reece and the others were indignant.
“Westergold people are just insidious, always playing these despicable tricks.”
Jett even slammed the table. “Don’t make me cripple you!”
He looked like he was about to hit someone, but he was wary of Darnell’s tricks and didn’t dare to rush forward.
And Casey and the other two women returned to Darnell’s side. These three women seemed weak, but when it came to messing with people, they were no less than himself.
Jett could do nothing but gnash his teeth and threaten, “You will pay the price.”
Darnell was unfazed. “You guys broke in drunk, didn’t apologize, and hit people, spoiling our lunch. Isn’t that unforgivable?”
“You changed the menu and tampered with the bill, charging me six thousand for six hundred. Isn’t that shameless?”
Bailee and the others also spoke up, “That’s right. You tried to rip us off!”
“You were unkind, so we are not righteous.”
Casey’s body was tightly against Darnell. “Mr. Halford, we support you, and we must fight them to the end.”
Darnell enjoyed the surging waves behind him. “That’s right. If people offend me, and I will fight back, let alone you extorting me first.”
“You!”
Victoria was speechless for a while, then became angry and embarrassed. “Do you think you can get a free meal like this?”
“You have no evidence that the cockroaches came from my restaurant. I can call the police and say you deliberately brought them to eat for free.”
“And I have the menu, the bill, and the witnesses. No one will believe you.”
“Most importantly, we are the Baycliff people. The police will be more biased towards us.”
Jett smiled grimly, “That’s right. We are all witnesses, so we can prove that you ate for free.”
Reece reeked of alcohol “As long as we show our identity, no matter right or wrong, the police will definitely side with us.”
Kole glared at Darnell, his eyes filled with indignation. “If you know what’s good for you, pay up and beg for mercy. Otherwise, the consequences are your own.”
Darnell tilted his head and said to Casey, “Casey, call the police. Tell them someone is eating for free here.”
Everyone was baffled, not understanding what Darnell was up to. He should be afraid of the police. Why was he calling the police instead?
Casey was puzzled and asked, “Call the police?”
“Of course, call the police!”
Darnell said with a smile, “Not only should we call the police, but we should also call the Department of Health and reporters.”
“Let them follow up on this matter well and test the origin of the cockroaches.”
“See whether to punish me for eating for free or to punish the expensive restaurant with cockroaches flying all over the place.”
Victoria had someone close the broken door, trying to block the sight and ears of the other diners, and then stared at Darnell with a cold smile.
“Do you want to threaten me by making a big deal out of it? Do you think I will compromise with you?”
“If everyone who comes to eat brings a few cockroaches, and I have to kneel down to beg for mercy, can I still run this restaurant?”
Darnell’s smile was still bright. “Fine, when the Department of Health comes later, let them test the origin of the cockroaches well, and they will know the living environment of the cockroaches and whether I brought them in from the outside or if they are a species in your shop.” He added in a low voice, “You know what?”
“These cockroaches were actually caught by me in your kitchen.”
Hearing this, Victoria’s body shook, and her anger intensified. “Bastard, are you trying to set me up?”
If these cockroaches were really brought in by Darnell, she wouldn’t worry about Darnell’s tricks, but if they were caught in the kitchen, it would be over.
Darnell smiled and asked, “So, how do you want to solve this matter?”
Victoria’s face was cold. “This is extortion. You are committing a crime.”
Darnell feigned surprise before exclaiming, “You’d saw through this? You are amazing.”
Victoria was speechless.
“Casey, call the police.”
“Bailee, report to the news.”
“Shayla, report to the Department of Health and the Department of Commerce.”
Darnell took out a booklet from his pocket and shouted without fear of making a big deal, “Tell them that a man with an Algerian passport ate six cockroaches when he had lunch at an expensive restaurant, but the restaurant owner refused to pay compensation and even charged a high price for the meal.”
“Now the man is in a serious condition, feeling unwell, and he suspects that the ingredients are stale.”
“If they don’t rush over in time, it will be broadcast live, and Whiteville will lose face in the world.”
Darnell’s voice was very loud, and it was transmitted through the sliding door. The diners who were already disgusted by the cockroaches gasped in shock when they heard about the stale ingredients.
Worried about their health, some people urged Victoria to come out and explain clearly, causing the waiters to be busy.
Casey and the others were also busy making phone calls, but Shayla suddenly thought of something. “A man with an Algerian passport? Who is he?”
Casey and Bailee also turned to look at Darnell, puzzled.
“It’s me!”
Darnell patted the booklet on the table and said proudly, “I have an Algerian passport. I don’t believe no one stands up for me!”
Shayla and the others were dazed for a while. What was this all about?
“Don’t make a phone call, sir. We can talk nicely.”
Victoria stopped the three women from making a phone call and pleaded to Darnell. She knew that with Darnell’s stirring up, the restaurant would definitely go out of business.
She merely wanted to vent some anger for Jett, with no intention of being an enemy to him, so she forced a smile.
“Let’s solve the problem peacefully.”
She felt extremely aggrieved. She planned to teach Darnell a lesson but ended up pleading with him.
Darnell’s momentum changed, and he slapped the table. “I’ve found seven cockroaches in my meal here, yet you have the audacity to charge me six thousand dollars. My physical health and mental state have been compromised. How can we solve the problem peacefully?”
