Chapter 520: Watch Your Mouth

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-11-29

“Marilyn, you better watch your mouth!” Ahmad, unable to bear it any longer, slammed his cane on the floor.
Regan had endured such humiliation for days, even weeks. If it were before, she wouldn’t have believed that a once close friend would speak to her with such venom. After experiencing so much, she had grown indifferent. Perhaps, they were never friends from the beginning.
“Am I wrong?” Marilyn questioned Isaac seriously.
Isaac’s face turned ashen; he looked terrible and lowered his voice, “Marilyn, don’t go too far.”
“I only said a few words, and you’re already feeling upset?” Marilyn lifted her head, acting haughtily, “When you drag her to the basement every day to beat her, you don’t feel sorry for her?”
Isaac’s expression changed.
Regan trembled again.
These things were well known within the Ellison family, but they had never been openly discussed.
Under the pity and scornful gazes of those around her, Regan felt like meat on a chopping board, left to be cut by anyone, never feeling so tormented.
Ahmad had come downstairs, supported by the servants.
“Why aren’t you talking? Weren’t you always so tough, daring to run away from home, you only help Callie because she went to Nelson and saved you, right?” It seemed everything was under Marilyn’s control.
Regan’s face turned red and pale, she bit her lip and remained silent.
Marilyn, spurred by her silence, lost control again. She thought of that sister, Maevelyn, who was related by blood and had almost met Ahmad after being lost for many years, and she felt… very angry.
She stepped forward and slapped Regan suddenly.
The sound was crisp.
Everyone was taken aback.
“Marilyn!” Isaac quickly grabbed Marilyn’s wrist and threw her to the side, “Regan is my pet. You are in no position to hit her.”
After one insult after another, Regan finally couldn’t hold back her tears, which fell like large beans. She turned and ran out of the Ellison family.
“You hit me?” Marilyn couldn’t believe it, “You dare to hit me?”
“What if I did?”
“Enough! All of you, be quiet!” Ahmad, seeing Regan’s fleeing back, threw his cane to the ground, “Isn’t it already chaotic enough!”
The two siblings immediately fell silent.
“Can’t you play your roles properly? You’re siblings, not enemies! Both of you need reflection on yourself!”
Sky Pavilion.
“Mr. Scott, I’ve taken care of everything as you instructed.” Mikayla stood by the desk and noticed that Jaquan was engrossed in his game. “Good. What about the company’s affairs?”
“Those are almost settled. Even if the O’Connor Group manages to recover, it will be very difficult for them to regain their losses, the funds lost over these few days are just too significant.”
The recent grudges of the Scott Group could be considered avenged.
“You can go now.”
Mikayla added, “Nelson is back.”
At this, Jaquan reacted, pausing his game and tossing his phone to Mikayla, “Finish the game for me here.”
“Ah?”
Callie had just finished packing her things. Her phone was flooded with missed calls, all from Nelson.
She didn’t know how much he had learned, but his urgency suggested that the crisis had passed, and he could now contact her.
Though she had always wanted to see Nelson and talk things through, at this moment, she didn’t know how to face him.
“Leaving?” Jaquan’s voice suddenly appeared.
