Chapter 518: Counterattack

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-11-29

Three days later.
The Oconnor Group suddenly received several investments, improving its situation. Nelson had a strong ability to seize opportunities and made decisive moves in the market.
Suddenly, the companies that had attacked the Oconnor Group saw their futures, foreign exchange, and stock markets all plummet. The futures market fell by three percent, the foreign exchange market dropped by 600 points, and the stock market fell from 3000 points to 2300 points.
A large number of users fled in panic.
No one understood why things suddenly took a turn for the worse until the Oconnor Group’s spokesperson stood in for Nelson and said, “I wonder what those with ill intentions think of our ‘return gift’.”
It turned out to be Nelson’s counterattack…
Not only did he not collapse, but he also didn’t seek stability. Instead, he struck back hard, retaliating against his enemies!
The industry was terrified. This was Nelson; how could he possibly submit or agree to a marriage alliance?
Jaquan received the news while standing in front of a breakfast shop buying breakfast for Callie.
“Got it.” As someone with vested interests, he was surprisingly calm.
He hung up the phone and even smiled at the shop owner, “Thank you.”
Driving towards the apartment, the iPad played the morning news. The Oconnor Group’s spokesperson was as proud as Nelson, neither avoiding nor denying anything they had done. They truly dared to act and take responsibility.
Jaquan turned off the video.
Callie had just finished washing up and opened the door in surprise, “Did you time it perfectly? How did you know I just got up?”
Jaquan walked in and placed the breakfast on the table, “How are you feeling today?”
The morning light shone in as they moved around the dining table, looking very much like a couple.
Callie sat down, “You don’t have to bring me breakfast; it’s too much trouble for you.”

Logically, Nelson should have been very busy today.
To prevent a counterattack from the Scott Group and changes in the market, he should have stayed in Afupshire to make real-time decisions.
This was something everyone had assumed from the start. However, several deputy operators waited all night in the first conference room temporarily set up in Afupshire, only to receive orders from Anthony-
“Mr. Oconnor has returned to Ylosea. The monitoring this time is entirely up to you.” Anthony added quietly, feeling it was a bit demanding, “It’s a good opportunity for training. If you succeed, you’ll be rewarded.”
Fortunately, everything was within expectations. Even without Nelson’s presence, they could control the situation.
Nelson returned to Ylosea and was immediately surrounded by reporters at the airport.
Somehow, they had gotten wind of his arrival. Cameras were pointed directly at the imposing man in black.
“Mr. Oconnor, did you endure hardships these days just for today?”
“Can you elaborate on your strategies in Afupshire? What will you do next?”
“What is your relationship with Miss Ellison?”
One question after another hit the mark.
Nelson moved forward under the escort of bodyguards, but his pace was too slow. He frowned impatiently, thinly veiled anger showing. A reporter accidentally poked his knuckle with a microphone. He slowly raised his eyes, “Which media outlet are you from?”
The person immediately showed a submissive expression, and the others were so intimidated by his deep voice that they dared not ask further questions.
Nelson quickly got into his sports car under the bodyguards’ protection. Ignoring the surrounding crowd, he floored the gas pedal, and the car sped away like an arrow.
People didn’t understand. He had clearly won a victory and should have been high-spirited. Why was Nelson so gloomy?
