Logan
My time at the hospital has been the worst of my life. I know I have enemies who want to bring me down at any moment.
That’s why I insisted on Nadine having bodyguards with her.
I know I haven’t been the best to her. I know I’ve made her doubt me. I’m glad I’m the one in the hospital bed and not her. I don’t think I’d survive it if it were the other way around.
I never expected her to stay with me despite my behavior, but I was shocked to realize that she was the one keeping me strong during this tough time.
I’m starting to see things more clearly. I see how much Nadine has done for me, even when I didn’t deserve it.
Every day, I see how much effort she puts into making sure I’m comfortable and safe. It’s more than just physical care; it’s the emotional strength she brings that I didn’t fully appreciate until now.
When Richie came to visit, I asked him to look into the shooting. From what we know, it seems like a sniper was involved.
Seeing Nadine stiffen when I touched her stomach made me wonder if I heard her right when she said, “You and my baby need to stay alive.” Could she be pregnant and keep it from me?
If she was pregnant, it would explain her reaction. I needed to know for sure, but I couldn’t just ask her directly without risking pushing her away or creating more tension.
If she is pregnant, it would change everything.
I love her. It feels strange to admit how deeply I love Nadine, though I sometimes struggle to show it. I doubt she’s noticed much.
As I rested my nose on her neck, taking in her scent, I realized how much she completes me.
I never believed she would stay, which was my fear when I woke up after surgery. But I felt relieved to see her smiling down at me with such love.
Now, as I heard Nadine’s soft snoring, I knew she was exhausted. Constantly going in and out of the hospital was taking its toll on her.
Seeing her so tired made me wish I could take her burdens away. She had been through so much-dealing with my injury.
Then I heard a soft knock on the door. I groaned, wondering who it could be. I carefully released Nadine from my hold and moved slowly to the door.
When I saw who it was, I felt like slamming the door in her face. But I didn’t want to wake Nadine, who was still fast asleep.
“Yes, what do you want?” I asked through gritted teeth. She had caused more trouble than good, and it was time I put an end to it for the sake of my relationship with Nadine.
I hadn’t fully considered what she wanted from me when she first asked.
She peered into my room and saw Nadine sleeping peacefully. I noticed the disdain in her eyes, which she quickly masked with a smile.
“I just wanted to check on you since I wasn’t at the hospital when you were discharged.”
“Thanks,” I replied grumpily, already tired of standing. “See you around, Samantha.”
She nodded and walked away from the door. I closed it gently and headed back to bed, eager to be with Nadine again.
I settled back beside Nadine, being careful not to wake her. The room was peaceful.
I knew I needed to make some decisions soon, but for now, I focused on enjoying this quiet time with her. I just wanted to be here with her, hold her, and let her know how much she meant to me.
I knew Samantha never thought I would move on from her. I was lost and broken after she left me at the altar. But I rebuilt myself and found love with Nadine.
As I watched Nadine sleep. I couldn’t imagine life without her. When she mentioned wanting out of the contract, it drove me crazy.
I didn’t want to show my love too openly, fearing she might treat me like Samantha did. Despite my efforts to hide my feelings, I was completely obsessed with her.
I could watch Nadine sleep all day and never get tired. She completes me.
With Samantha, everything was always a struggle. Her rejection had shattered me, and I had to rebuild my self-esteem. But Nadine was different. She helped me heal and became the center of my world.
Then my phone rang with a message notification. I didn’t want to check it because I didn’t want any distractions. I just wanted to rest.
I ignored the phone, pulled Nadine closer, and drifted off to sleep. It was a pleasant sleep, something I hadn’t had in a while.

Nadine’s
I can’t believe I slept so well. It was hours of restful sleep, and I felt my strength returning. The voice in my head teased me, “Is it because Logan is right beside you?”
“Oh, shut up,” I replied.
I gently tried to move away from Logan’s strong arm still holding me on the bed. When I opened my eyes, I saw him looking down at me with love.
My stomach flipped with butterflies, and I’m sure my face was bright red. It felt good to see that loving look on his face again after the tension caused by Samantha.
Logan smiled warmly, and I felt the warmth in his eyes. For a moment, it was just the two of us, and everything else seemed to fade away.
“Good morning,” he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from my face.
“Good morning,” I replied, my voice still a bit sleepy.
“Did you sleep well?” he asked in a husky voice that sent shivers down my spine.
“Yes, I did. It was the best sleep I’ve had in days,” I said with a smile.
“I’ve asked Kayla to move in with us to help with food and groceries. She was happy to stay and keeps thanking me for what you’ve done for her and her family.”
Logan smiled and said, “Kayla is like a sister to me. We met at an orphanage where I donated.”
I was surprised to learn he donated to charity. Who would have thought?
“Stop giving me that look,” he said with a smile, touching my head. “I know what you’re thinking.”
“Oh please, Logan, you’re strange…”
“Judging by your way of life,” he said, cutting me off.
“Kind of, but I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks, Nadine. But I’d like to know, are you pregnant?”
