Agnes found the question strange and replied, “Because this is my home.”
Ansel was left speechless.
“Any other questions?” the girl asked.
“When sister moved out, our relationship became distant,” Ansel complained softly, sighing.
Agnes remained silent. Soon, the water boiled, and Ansel got up and went to the kitchen.
He quickly brought out two cups of hot water.
“Are you really not sick? You don’t look well. Why have you been on leave for so long? Not traveling, just staying at home alone, isn’t that a waste?”
“I like it,” she said, taking the cup he handed her.
“Thank you.”
“Is there something bothering you? You can talk to me about it. I’m more than willing to share your burden,” Ansel said with a smile.
“I can even be your punching bag.”
The girl took a deep breath and then asked him, “How’s work? Are you adapting well?”
“It’s fine. I’m mentoring freshmen; it’s not much different from high school students. They are quite obedient,” Ansel told her.
“I’ve also enrolled in a course on how to be an engaging teacher. It’s very beneficial.”
Overall, Ansel was making progress.
Agnes felt happy for him. He was still young, and his future looked promising.
Today, Ansel didn’t bring up anything about relationships. He just showed concern for her, chatted to keep her company, and shared some cake with her until Agnes finally asked him to leave at ten in the evening.
“Bubu, when I get my first paycheck, would you celebrate with me?” Ansel stood outside the door, holding onto it, hoping she would agree.
Agnes met his gaze and smiled.
“Will you spend half of it?”
“I originally planned to just treat you to a meal, but if you have time, I could also take you on a short trip nearby. Spending it all wouldn’t matter; I’d be happy to spend money on you,” he said sincerely.
“A meal is enough. Save the rest; you need to plan ahead,” Agnes encouraged him.
“Study hard and strive to become an excellent college teacher. When you’re old, you’ll earn a reputation for both virtue and talent.”
“Alright! Bubu will supervise!” He would work hard because she had high expectations of him.
He wouldn’t disappoint her; love was his motivation!
“Good night,” Ansel said to her.
“Goodbye,” the girl replied before closing the door.
Ansel knew that Agnes liked mature and steady men, so he began changing himself from within.
He read many philosophy books to enrich his thoughts.
His dressing style also changed.
Agnes had stayed up late a few nights ago to finish the comic draft of “Noodle Couple.”
She couldn’t sleep anyway; her mind was filled with thoughts of her little cat.
She ended up exhausting herself over a few days and had to take leave because of it.
Having one’s mind consumed by someone is unbearable. Even without ever having them, it felt like losing them completely…
She felt there was nothing worth looking forward to anymore, making each day unhappy.
Every morning when she woke up, she fell into endless sorrow with no hope for the future.
How could “love” be so hurtful?
So don’t casually play with a girl’s heart. When you leave, it takes her a long time to heal.
Agnes felt sick and wanted to save herself. She wanted to try getting closer to him regardless of the outcome.
But five hours ago, she sent him a video of Bubu, and he still hadn’t replied. She didn’t know if he had seen it or not.
He probably didn’t want to deal with her… He was probably busy.
The excellent Agnes began doubting herself, feeling unworthy of love and utterly terrible.
That’s why people often say love is like a whirlpool; if you can escape it, you’ll be reborn.
If not, it might ruin a person completely.
