Chapter 1151

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-11-28

“She’s been saved.”
Sylvia spoke calmly. She was dressed in sterile surgical attire, her gloves still stained with fresh blood, a shocking sight.
Ryleigh stared at her in disbelief, exclaiming, “How is that possible?”
Sylvia slowly removed her sterile gloves and precisely tossed them into the trash bin in the corner. Only then did she lift her eyelids to glance at Ryleigh. “In my hands, anything is possible.”
Her confidence was overwhelming, leaving Ryleigh speechless and stunned.
After a moment, Ryleigh snapped out of it and shouted angrily, “You’re so young, how could you save them? This is a matter of life and death. Don’t joke around here. Move aside!”
Sylvia frowned slightly. “I never joke.”
Who was this middle-aged woman? Why was she here, and why was she so emotional?
Ryleigh had thought she could be the savior, the hero who rescued Mariam. She imagined gaining fame, giving interviews, and elevating her status in the medical field.
But now, all of that had crumbled.
No, she couldn’t allow it to crumble.
She rushed into the delivery room like a madwoman. The nurses and the obstetrician had just finished their work. The patient, Mariam, was breathing steadily but still unconscious.
Ryleigh hurried over to check on Mariam’s condition, finding that her blood pressure and other bodily functions had returned to normal, though she was still weak.
How had this young woman done it?
Why? It must have been her own hasty mistake! Ryleigh began checking again.
Not only her, but several other medical experts also entered the delivery room to examine Mariam’s condition alongside Ryleigh.
The results were all normal!
Blood pressure normal, heartbeat normal!
Breathing normal, pulse normal!
Everything was normal!
How could this be?
“There are no advanced instruments here, nor any blood transfusion equipment.”
“The patient suffered massive bleeding and was saved under such rudimentary conditions?”
“Incredible, unheard of.”
“Look, the baby was delivered by cesarean section!”
“The sutures are perfect! Even better than standard.”
The medical experts were astonished as they observed Mariam’s condition, continuously expressing their admiration.
The reporters outside and Mariam’s family were also stunned.
Coward’s mouth hung open in shock. After a while, he mumbled to himself, “My… my sister is really alive? She’s okay?”
The doctors looked at Sylvia in disbelief. Such a young doctor?
Finally, an elderly professor with graying hair approached Sylvia. “Child… what’s your name? Which hospital are you from?”
“My name is Sylvia Andrews. I’m a doctor in the hematology department at the General Hospital.” Sylvia’s gaze was calm. “May I ask what advice you have?”
“Not advice, but your suturing technique is excellent. I’d like to know if you could explain how you performed such a rapid cesarean section and managed to save the patient despite the massive bleeding?”
The elderly professor adjusted his glasses like a humble student seeking knowledge.
“Bleeding caused by uterine atony requires effective hemostasis. Without it, no amount of plasma or red blood cells would help. In this rudimentary delivery room, stopping the bleeding was the priority.” Sylvia didn’t remain silent. “I used acupuncture to seal several key points on her body to minimize bleeding and quickly sutured the cesarean section wound.”
The elderly professor was even more shocked after hearing her explanation. “Acupuncture? You know traditional Chinese medicine as well?”
“I know a little.” Sylvia didn’t speak further; she was tired.
Saving a patient with massive bleeding was no joke, especially when it was caused by uterine atony after a cesarean section.
Accelerating uterine contractions is the most effective way to stop the bleeding. So after quickly delivering the baby and removing the placenta, she cleaned up the remnants and sutured the wound swiftly.
After all that, she massaged the uterus and used uterotonic agents among other measures.
If all else failed, she was prepared to perform a hysterectomy to save Mariam’s life. Fortunately, it didn’t come to that; Mariam’s life was saved.
While the elderly professor and Sylvia were discussing, a younger doctor suddenly exclaimed, “I remember who you are! You’re the top surgeon at Lilypad General Hospital, right? I saw your lecture on a forum! You even founded an impressive medical forum sharing many free medical resources.”
He looked enlightened. “Dr. Sylvia, it’s an honor to meet you in person.”
With this revelation from the young doctor, the others were once again shocked.
The top surgeon… known for performing perfect surgeries.
A surgical genius!
And now she’s in the hematology department at the General Hospital?
Ryleigh also worked at the General Hospital, which was the best hospital in Aettosa’s capital.
Her face turned awkwardly red as if she had been slapped multiple times. She forced a stiff smile. “Dr. Sylvia, I didn’t expect us to be colleagues. This hospital is so big that many colleagues don’t know each other, haha-haha-”
Sylvia ignored her awkwardness and didn’t engage in unnecessary pleasantries. Instead, she walked straight to Mariam’s family members. Seeing their rogue-like demeanor, she couldn’t help but smile. “Now that she’s saved, aren’t you going to thank me? Or are you disappointed that your five million dollars flew away?”
Coward’s face turned red and green with anger at being exposed by Sylvia. “It’s best that my sister is alive. The five million dollars was just for revenge!”
He eyed Sylvia’s beautiful face with both desire and fear.
Such a beautiful woman… only a family like the Hipps Family could raise someone like her.
If he could take her as his wife, he would be incredibly fortunate.
He didn’t realize how absurd his thoughts were.
“Now that your sister is safe, why aren’t you leaving?” Sylvia glanced at the reporters, especially the one with curly hair. “Have you recorded enough? Have you gained enough online attention?”
Mariam’s cousin was intimidated by Sylvia’s presence. She swallowed hard and retorted weakly, “I’m a reporter; reporting facts is my duty.”
“Then go ahead and immediately report that Mariam has been saved! If you don’t, you’re violating your professional ethics and failing your professional standards.” Sylvia’s lips curved into a slight smile. “Go on!”
Mariam’s cousin had posted so many defamatory and twisted videos before; how could she now report that Mariam had been saved?
That would be like slapping herself in the face and ruining her career.
Mariam’s cousin’s hand trembled as she held her phone but couldn’t bring herself to post it.
She looked to Mariam’s mother for help, but received no response.
“You don’t need to post it; our official platform has already released the truth.”
At this moment, a clear male voice sounded. It was Ryleigh’s police friend who had come with her. He walked up to Mariam’s cousin and said slowly, “I just sent my recorded video to the bureau. Our official platform clarified the facts a minute ago.”
He held his phone up to Mariam’s cousin’s face. She stared in shock at the message on the screen:
“Hipps Family’s rural daughter-in-law Mariam has been successfully treated by Sylvia and is out of danger. Mariam’s family has been appeased. However, Coward’s extortion of five million dollars meets detention criteria due to the large amount involved. The following actions have been taken: Coward is detained on-site for fraud and extortion charges with a sentence of over three years in prison.
Reporters causing public disturbances and failing to report facts have created extremely negative social impacts and will be sentenced to over six months in prison for endangering public safety.”
So…
She was going to jail?
Terrified, she threw her phone at the police officer. “No, I don’t want to go to jail! I was just reporting; how is that a crime?”
“All your reports were out of context and distorted facts. They caused very negative public opinion. Shouldn’t you be held responsible?”
The police officer waved his hand after speaking. His colleagues immediately moved in and subdued Coward and the curly-haired reporters. “Take them away!”
“No! Help me!”
Seeing the police take action seriously, Coward started shouting for Finnegan. “Finnegan, help me! Finnegan-I don’t want to go to jail!”
“Mom, Mom, I don’t want to go to jail! I didn’t do anything!”
Finnegan ignored his despicable face and went to prepare formula for the baby instead.
Mariam’s mother panicked when she saw her son being taken away and pleaded with Queena. “Dear in-law! Coward is so young; he can’t go to jail! If he goes to jail, what girl would marry him?”
Queena remained indifferent. “Sorry, from the way you came here causing trouble, I thought our families were enemies! So… I can’t help with this.”
“Oh my God!” Mariam’s mother cried as she sat on the ground in despair, tears streaming down her face as she slapped her thighs. “Is this still family? How heartless!”
“This is driving our Conley family into a corner!”
“Bullying us rural folks!”
