John’s POV
As the lords got into their rides, lord Bernard and and I stood side by side, watching the distance. I had really expected a decision to be made regarding the choice of my mate the previous night, but then, it didn’t happen.
Although the party had proceeded and we did get the chance to dance, I still wished the seer hadn’t come with a contrary news. We were all looking forward to receiving my mate, the next Luna of the pack.
“So when next are we going to see you? When are you gonna come visiting!” I asked, moving with Lord Bernard to his ride.
“When the seer is ready to have your mate declared,”He said as I raised his brows. “I don’t understand,” I sighed. I was really looking forward to having my mate declared last night,”
“And it’s obvious you already have someone in mind. The unrealised werewolf girl?” Lord Bernard chuckled.
I didn’t find his joke funny especially the part of him refering to Reyna as the unrealised werewolf girl.
“Look, John,” Lord Bernard continued, placing a hand on my shoulder. “Sentiments aside, you can’t have her as your mate. You’re the alpha of the pack and by implication, you’ll need a fully realised werewolf to be your mate. A deserving Luna.”
I took in a deep breath, as lord Bernard’s words resonated within me. He was right and I couldn’t deny it. As an alpha of the pack, I needed someone who could match my strength and the other qualities of an alpha, and Reyna might not just be the lady.
“What if by chance, my mate turns out to be someone who is not a fully realised werewolf.” I was tempted to ask.
“That can never happen, John.” I didn’t know which surprised me more in Lord Bernard’s statement, if it was the audacity with which he spoke or the confidence that something like that would never happen.
“Just incase you don’t know, there’s more to being the alpha of the pack than meet the eye, and I’d really appreciate it if you prepare yourself for all that is coming your way.
“What do you mean by that? What is coming my way that I need to prepare myself for?” I didn’t spare him the curiosity in my eyes.
“We’ll leave that for some other time, John. I should be leaving now. I’ll call you when I get to the Blood moon pack.
With that, lord Bernard pulled into his car, and drove away. I watched as the car left the estate until it finally disappeared from my sight.

Stephanie’s POV
“Where are you taking me?” I asked, fear gripping me as I realized it was a set up. Nene had come to my chambers to inform me that her mistress Diane wanted to see me. But immediately I was pulled into a van by some men who had masks on.
“Just cooperate with us and you’ll be back before you know it.” One of the men said.
The van came to an abrupt stop. “Get down.” The bulgy man said as I looked around the environment. It looked deserted and I’d never stepped foot in this part of the clan.
“Well, well, well,” Diane said, a cigarette in her hand as she smoked, blowing the offensive smoke out.
“Mistress Diana,” I called, her my bowed as I wondered what I’d done to warrant a call from the mistress.
“You, remember me?” She asked as I raised my head to look at her. The question came as a surprise to me, because it wasn’t my first time of seeing her. We’ve been seeing each other within the estate since I arrived, and even if we’ve not been in talking terms, I don’t remember having seen her anywhere before.
“Mistress, what do you mean?” I kept my head bowed to the ground.
“Quit the act, will you,” Diane puffed some smoke into the air, almost choking me. “I think I should remind you then.”
I could hear my heart beat. What was mistress Diane driving at? What is it that she seemed to know about me. I tried looking up a bit to see her face once again, hoping that it’ll probably hint me on any possibility of having seen her before.”
“On the night of annunciation, Black Crescent pack.”
I almost froze right there at the mention of Black Crescent pack and on the night of annunciation.
“How do you know about that? Who are you?” I asked, lifting up my eyes. It was obvious my cover was about being blown and I didn’t want that. Mistress Diane seemed to know me well and I needed to know how.”
“It doesn’t matter anymore does it? Why are you here? What do you want with the brothers? You’re a spy aren’t you?” Mistress Diane confronted me with her questions.
I could see the looks on Nene’s face. She hadn’t really liked me since I came into the pack. I’ve always felt that resistance from her, and seeing me at the mercy of her mistress, she must be feeling like she’s got me where she wants me.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I feigned ignorance.
“Really now?” Diane smiled. “Imagine how the alpha would feel when he he finds out that you’re not who he thinks you are.”
“What do you want me? Why have you brought me here?” I asked.
“Excuse us!” Diane dismissed the other men who had brought me to her, but allowed Nene to stay behind.
“Tell me,” she continued. “Where is Sarah?”
“I don’t know,” I replied boldly. “We got separated.”
“So she’s alive?” Diane’s eyes were filled with anguish and I could see right through her.
“I don’t know. The Lycans got her. She only made sure I got away.”
“That’s enough!” She took in a deep breath, as she stepped on the cigarette. “I’ve found out everything I need to find out from you.”
“You were the girl in a hoodie on the night of annunciation?” I asked, but Diane refused to give me an answer.
