KNOW MY PLACE?

Book:His Darkened Obsession Published:2024-11-27

“Know my place?!”
“Don’t irritate me even more. There’s people that are dying, Anderson. Why don’t you go round the world and save each of them?” He mocked.
“Spiderman to the rescue.” Ash sang with a giggle.
Does Ash think this is funny?
“Turn a blind eye and don’t get involved. If you get involved in Mr. Derek’s death, our families will have no choice but to disown you or lock you up in a crib until you get your senses back. You know St. Victoria’s Academy doesn’t care about anyone, right? They care a lot about their reputation. Once they notice you getting involved in unnecessary things, they will get you out of this school and your parents can’t nothing about it. If I were you, I would shut my damn mouth up and suck up on my food. Act like nothing happened and graduate.” Storm got up from his chair and walked past me. And he stopped without looking back.
Everything he said frightened me and he was right.
“Strength isn’t the only powerful thing a Beta has. What’s best is the tail between his legs and his behind.” Ash remarked, not taking his eyes off his soft drink. “Too bad. It wasn’t sweet enough to eat for lunch.”
What was he talking about? What did he mean by that?
Jinx kept eating his food without a care in the world.
“Violet is running to the crime scene. Whoever wants to come with me should come along and let’s go stop her. Once Violet gets emotional, she will do anything to prove justice, and that would put us at a great disadvantage.”
I got up and followed Storm to where Violet was, and Jinx came along as well. Except for Ash, who said he had something to do.
And Storm was right. Violet wants to get involved.
And we successfully stopped her. But the situation worsened and Ash was in the middle of it.
We were all in jeopardy when Storm attacked Lucan and nearly busted the school building in half.
Willow, Jinx and I injured ourselves because Storm let his anger get the best of him.
And we all got caught up in it.
We got up in the infirmary after we were all being healed. I knew the school authorities wouldn’t let it slide.
They would report every detail to my parents and especially my father, and wouldn’t take it lightly.
Our uniforms got torn. Our uniforms got stained.
I held Willow’s hand so we could sneak up the staircase to our room without our father’s gaze on us.
I wasn’t ready to face my father right now.
“Where do the both of you think you are going?!”
We stopped in our tracks and saw him in the living room, sitting on his comfy sofa with his legs crossed.
He wore his usual black suit. And gave us a dark glare. “I’m talking to both of you. Don’t trigger my anger.”
We both walked up to him and the next thing my father did as soon as he stood up from his couch was land a heavy punch on my face.
“Anderson.” Willow yelled in fright and came over to me. “Anderson, are you okay?”
“Ouch! Fuck.” I winced and felt blood on my mouth and stood up on my feet. “I’m fine.” I nodded.
“Get away from him.” My father ordered Willow and also slapped her on her cheek. “What a slut! Haven’t you done enough already?” He roared.
“Father.” I also yelled and stood up on my feet to block Willow. “She has nothing to do with this.”
“Shut up and stop defending her.” He lashed out. “Do you know the damages you have caused at school? The reputation you’ve tainted and how I would have to pay for it.” He yelled out even more. “If it was Storm who was causing such a stupid tantrum at school, couldn’t you have stopped him? Are you not his friend?”
“Father.”
“What happened to the most powerful team in St. Victoria’s Academy? Who could have pushed Ash down to the ground and plucked out his eyes? Are you telling me you are not powerful enough to defend yourselves? Where was Jinx when such an act happened to him? If Storm had the power to drop nearly half a building, why didn’t he use that strength to track down the bastard who attacked Ash?!”
“Father.” I swallowed. “It all happened so fast.” I let out. “Everything went fast to keep up with what was happening.” I explained. “We didn’t know what was going on. Went to stop Violet from interfering in Mr. Derek’s affair when we heard what happened to Ash after stopping her. We didn’t know what happened to Ash. He just fell down…”
. “Enough!” He raised his hand. “I will not risk losing your stupid heads because of your carelessness. Both of you will get homeschooled until you graduate. No one is stepping out of this house until your graduation ceremony.”
“FATHER. NO!” We chorused.
My father’s expression deepened. “Are you disobeying my orders?”
“No, father.” Willow cut him short and held my arm to keep me from talking. “We need to be there for Ash and…”
‘Jinx, Ash and Violet will no longer be attending the St. Victoria’s Academy anymore. We will homeschool all of you until further notice and also confiscate your phones.’ He announced. ‘Follow me.’ He yelled at his guards. ‘I have tons of work to do for these bastards.’
After he was gone, Willow turned to me. “Anderson, we can’t let him tell us what to do. We can’t abandon everyone out there. Ash is…”
“We can’t do anything, Willow.” I muttered and slammed on the couch behind me on my buttocks.
“What do you mean, we can’t do anything? We can’t just leave everyone out there when we can help.”
“You heard him, didn’t you?” I clenched both of my hands together. “We got locked up here for homeschooling.”
“I know-”
“And the others as well. You heard what our father just said. We can’t do anything about it.”
“So, we’re just going to sit our asses down and do nothing. How long are we gonna keep this up and allow him to keep controlling us?”
“Probably, when we take over his wealth and the pack.” I joked and felt my chest tightened as I thought of how long I wasn’t seeing my best friends until three years later.
“We have to do something, Anderson. We can’t…”
“THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO.” I flared up and got up from the couch in anger. “Don’t you get it? We are stuck here, Willow. Storm almost killed you when he got out of control. Us too. If it weren’t for Jinx who grabbed your hand from falling down those broken blocks, you would have died just like Mr. Derek and crushed your bones.”
