Patrick just sighed. He went over, held Luna by her wrist and said “I’ve looked forward to meeting you all these years. I don’t know who you are and my foster father doesn’t even know the woman who gave birth to me.
I am more excited than you are, mother, that I found you. And to know that you have yearned for me all these years just as I also did, makes me more excited.
But it shouldn’t have been Richard. It shouldn’t have been the man from the Lester family that fathered me. I wish it were someone else. I would have thrown a party but how do I cope with having that man as my father?”
Luna was lost. If there wasn’t Richard, there wouldn’t have been Patrick. He’s from him, she only carried the seed in her belly and Patrick is that seed.
If she wasn’t there, Patrick would have been born, if he was destined to be, but by another woman. Perhaps by that schemer, Anna Lester.
“I don’t want Richard Lester to be part of our lives. He isn’t my father, I refuse to accept him as my father and that’s the only way I can accept you as my mother.
Stay away from him and his family. Let’s live our lives separately. He’s got his family, we can live ours separately. That’s what I want, and that’s what I would appreciate from you” Patrick concluded.
Luna nodded. If that’s what he wants, then that’s what she would do. Her son’s happiness is more important to her than her own happiness.
If she can spend the rest of her life with her son, that’s worth more than anything else to her in this life.
“Fine. So be it. We’ll be a family, separated from Richard and the entire Lester family” Luna assured.
Patrick smiled and Luna opened her arms watching her son take a few strides and walk into those arms. They are together now and happy.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Patrick looked towards the door “You’re expecting someone?” He asked, going towards the door.
Luna shrugged. She isn’t expecting anyone but she cannot predict Richard’s movement. He might have brought himself to her doorstep and Patrick doesn’t want it.
Patrick moved towards the door but Luna coaxed “Stay back son, I’ll get the door” she said flippantly. She doesn’t want him to open the door and find Richard standing on the other side.
She walked over and opened the door. She was dazed when she saw Adrian standing and far behind was Richard stepping out of his car. What is wrong, what are the duo doing at her door?
She glared at Adrian. He’s the son of that woman, the one who ruined her. The hatred in her almost got transferred to the young man but she shoved it away. He was innocent, he was caught in the matrix that his mother had made. It was never his fault in any way.
“What do you want?” She asked, seeing that Richard was getting closer. She felt like shutting the door and not let Richard get any closer to her for Patrick’s sake.
“I’m here to see my brother” Adrian replied and tried to look beyond Luna’s shoulder into the apartment. At this time, Richard was standing behind his son, his gaze fixed on Luna.
Before Luna could say anything, Adrian called out “Patrick, Patrick” twice. He knew he was there. His car was parked outside and the fact that Luna couldn’t respond to him readily meant he was really there.
Without a word, Patrick strode over and stood behind his mother, a little taller than her and glared at Adrian and his father expressionlessly.
Patrick’s gaze fell on Adrian and the latter’s eyes went reddened. It’s obvious that he’d had some bad times or he’d had a few tears.
“Can I come in?” Adrian asked. Thank goodness that Patrick himself stepped over. He wants to hold him in a hug, Wants to tell him that he was happy that they’re siblings and also sorry for the part his mother created in splitting the family apart.
“To where?” Patrick asked, his hands across his mother’s shoulders. He wants to come in, to do what? He probably knew that his father had dated his mother.
As far as he is concerned, Richard is not his father. He’s probably in his mother’s past. But now they’re not together, and he doesn’t want to see him around her.
“Patrick please, we need to talk. Outside isn’t the best place to do so” Adrian pleaded. The looks that Patrick has on, doesn’t seem friendly at all.
“We have nothing to talk about. And you won’t be stepping into this apartment. And as far as I’m concerned, you and your family are outsiders to us henceforth.
And tell me, where do outsiders stay while interacting with house owner’s? Outside I guess. So you should stay away henceforth” Patrick seethed.
“Patrick, please, let’s put the past behind us. We both are not…” Adrian began but Patrick interrupted him sharply.
“What past are you talking about? And what are you putting behind you? It’s easier said because you are not the victim of the whole scheme and it wasn’t your mother that was imprisoned innocently
What are you putting behind you, my mother’s suffering or my own abandonment? Which of the two are you capable of putting behind you?
Your mother was a schemer, and you still have the audacity to come before me, after what she’d done to my mom and I? Do you have any conscience at all?” He scowled.
“I’ve never been in support of what Anna did. I think you should put that part behind and not let it soil the relationship you share with Adrian. Leave Anna, Luna and myself alone to sort ourselves out, Patrick” Richard replied.
“I thought I was talking to Adrian sir? I don’t want to disrespect you, Mr Richard but please stay away from us. I think you should be concerned about your criminal wife and the spoiled brat you both have raised” Patrick snapped at him.
Adrian was lost. Did he just refer to dad as “Mr Richard?” he’d always call him uncle. And now that he knows him as his father, shouldn’t he call him dad?
And his mother, he called her a criminal. Well, he cannot debate that. As a matter of fact, that’s what she is. And he is a spoiled brat indeed. Raised with so much love and pampered.
“Are you referring to me as Mr Richard?” Richard demanded. Looks like things are not as easy as he thought.
“Isn’t that your first name Mr Lester? I stand to be corrected if I’m wrong. But stay away from my mother and I henceforth. This is the last shred of respect I have for you. Next time I see you around her apartment or anywhere close to her, you’ll be getting it tough from me” Patrick warned.
“You can’t talk to dad that way. I know you are still hurt, that’s true. I know the pain inflicted on you by my mom still hurts terribly, I feel sorry about that.
But don’t talk to dad in such a disrespectful manner, Patrick. He’s your father, at least you know that now. How can you talk back to him in such a manner?” Adrian cautioned.
“Are you going to teach me how I should address this betrayer? Are you qualified, you idiot?” Patrick Seethed.
