Richard bursted into laughter. Sam Kechi must have thought he was a straw backed man that would shrink after hearing those threats. He was wrong, he had thought him very low in that aspect.
He doesn’t need him to send threats before he knows what he should do. When he had him arrested, he knew he was involved with his wife. If he wanted to protect Anna, he wouldn’t have requested for his arrest.
Seeing that Richard chuckled rather than giving him a response, Sam Kechi’s lawyer continued “You’re Richard Lester. There isn’t anyone in New Jersey who doesn’t know that name nor the name of your son, Adrian Lester.
You can simply withdraw the charges against my client and we go our separate ways after all, the one affected has regained her freedom. There isn’t much ado about this…”
“Your words stink in my ears. You know I am Richard Lester and you dare to bring Sam Kechi’s threats to my hearing? You’ve got nerves and your heart must be good at daring things and damning its consequences.
You would return and tell your client that I am not afraid of his threats, nor will I bow to it. For all he’d done to Luna, I will ensure she gets justice, is that clear?” Richard scowled.
After all Luna went through because of him, shouldn’t he stand up for her at this point, shouldn’t he seek nothing but justice for her?
“I know this decision is not easy to make. But I’m giving you twenty four hours to reconsider what my client requested, otherwise…” Sam Kechi’s lawyer was talking when Richard interrupted him sharply.
“Otherwise what, huh, tell me what you can do? Don’t dare me” he warned.
“He’ll tell the world what he knows and with whom he’d practised it” He declared and rose up.
“Don’t bring your face before me again” Richard warned, and stood up confidently, strolling out, amidst his bodyguards.
Meanwhile in the Lester family, everyone was worried while the doctors were attending to Adrian. At intervals, some other medical team would come and go again.
At a time, Adrian asked if he needed to go to the hospital rather than having them send for more of their colleagues but his doctor said they could manage it.
The pain was excruciating. He knew he wasn’t going to die again. If he survived the initial bullet piercing and came out of coma, he isn’t going to die again, at least not now.
In that state, Clem stands by. He stood beside grandfather Lester. The old man was worried about his disowned grandson. What would have been able to bring Adrian down so hard?
It properly could be a stab or something of sort because the bleeding was pretty much that he was scared that Adrian would bleed to death.
They waited and suddenly, Clem’s phone chirped. He glanced at it, it was showing the name “Aurora Blake”. He squinted, who is Aurora Blake?
Anyways, he answered and the voice that came in was that of Ava Leon. “Ava Leon, are you Aurora Blake now” he asked. Did she take up another identity?
Grandfather Lester squinted, Clem walked away from him before answering the phone but somehow, he perceived that he felt Clem called the name of his dead granddaughter.
“Yes, it’s me. My name is Aurora Blake now” Aurora answered but before Clem could say another thing, she asked “How’s Adrian? Is he alright?”her voice shaking and worry filled.
“Adrian is far from being alright. He’s in a delicate condition and the doctors are attending to him…”Clem informed and then has another thing to say, a question to be precise.
“I wish he could just listen, but Adrian always wants things done his own way, even if his life is at risk” Aurora complained.
She had been restless since they took off. His injury was as fresh as when he stepped out of the theatre. His health deteriorated within those few days he was in coma coupled with the loss of blood.
But he was not going to listen to the medical advice offered him. She hopes the wounds don’t get infected and result in another complicated situation.
“Tell me, Ava or sorry, Aurora, what exactly happened to Adrian?” He asked. It seemed to him that she knew what happened before he arrived.
There was a long silence before Aurora replied “Didn’t he tell you what happened?” After talking to her in the hospital and Clem was there she thought he would explain to him and the others what really happened.
“I wish he’d told us, I wouldn’t have to ask you the same question. But you know how strong willed Adrian can be?” Clem responded. If he knew, he wouldn’t have asked her.
Aurora was quiet. He didn’t say it to anyone that she shot him? Somehow she felt unable to answer Clem and tell him what really happened. If Adrian wants him to know, he would tell him when he feels like it.
“Please let me know how it goes with Adrian”Aurora requested and hung up. She gently placed her phone on the arm of the sofa, and a lone tear dropped. He was protecting her, she felt like he was protecting her?
And now, he’s in a critical condition and still wouldn’t tell anyone what happened to him. Being strong willed sometimes doesn’t have to be in the negative. It sometimes goes in one’s favour.
Clem was dazed when he heard Aurora’s words and more shocked when she hung up on him. What’s happening, why didn’t she want to talk?
He sighed softly and placed his phone away and walked back to stand next to grandfather as they waited for the medical team to step out of Adrian’s room.
“I heard you called a certain name a while ago” Grandfather asked and Clem nodded. “I didn’t expect that she’s alive, can you imagine that I saw her in X-city?” he chimed.
They all mourned her death, kept the memorial of her and yet, she’s still alive, still breathing on the surface of the earth. This calls for celebration.
He couldn’t think about it much before leaving X-city because of the condition in which Adrian was. His whole concern was on him alone.
“Who are you talking about?” Grandfather Lester asked when the door to Adrian’s apartment was opened and two doctors stepped out.
“How’s Adrian doing?” Grandfather Lester asked and one of the doctor said “He’s free from harm’s way but he needs to strictly abide by his medication and he’ll be alright”
Clem sighed softly, a feeling of excitement flooded his heart. Thank goodness, his grandfather is there, he would always remind Adrian about his medication if needs be.
“But there’s something else…” the doctors said, drawing the attention of Clem and grandfather Lester to himself.
