Chapter 89: Misconception

Aurora immediately dropped the gun in fright. She was scared and glared at it on the floor. Jimmy sprang up on his feet and picked the pistol. There’s an accidental discharge. Two bullets have been released.
“Why did you touch it?” He scowled. Simon Blake glanced at the pistol and with his eyes traced where the bullet landed, it was late because blood was already dripping on the floor.
“Adrian!!” Santiago jumped off the sofa and went to his friend. He was holding the sides of his belly painfully and his hand was covered with blood.
That was when Aurora glanced up and the sight before her was scary. She shot him, she’d killed Adrian?
Charlotte rushed out, because she heard the noise, anyone else in the Blake mansion would hear it and those not far away would definitely hear it too.
When Charlotte stepped out, Elsie also followed out and when she saw the blood dripping, Adrian being supported, her little fragile mind could not contain the shock, she went dizzy and blanked out.
“Gosh! Get an ambulance” Jimmy instructed, running to the car park. It’s not just an ordinary pistol, it’s the military one, the one he uses when he goes out on mission.
Shot at such a close proximity, at his belly? Adrian is in danger. He might not survive it. Two bullets was no child’s play. One was enough to split someone’s skull in pieces.
Adrian was gradually losing consciousness when he was taken into the ambulance. It wasn’t just his stomach that was pierced, the hole was made that perforated his inner structure to the back. Everyone who tried to support him was covered in his blood.
Charlotte and the servants were trying to resuscitate Elsie and calling an emergency medical team. This shouldn’t affect the quick intervention that Adrian should be given.
In New Jersey, Richard followed Luna and they stepped into the hotel room that Rodgers was in. When the latter saw Richard, he frowned and turned to glare at Luna.
“Not to worry. He’s my son’s father” Luna informed and sat down. Richard sat next to her and Rodgers refused to say anything. How can she come over to see him with this man?
His wife is a major suspect. How can he expound his findings with her? This is absurd and Richard observed the uneasiness from Rodgers.
“I want you to be free to talk to us. We both are looking for our son and if you want me to help you, I’ll interrogate my wife myself and bring the findings to you” He offered.
Rodgers sighed “I think you should ask her where she took the baby to. She knows who Susanna Wesley was. She’s either the person or paid someone to be so” Rodgers declared and said nothing more.
“That wife of yours is mean. She should have told me that she wanted you rather than hurting me so much” Luna blurted.
“It’s all my fault. But I’ll make it good henceforth” Richard Lester promised. He would try to get something out of Anna and then let Luna know.
He would have argued with her but what he heard Anna say that morning was enough to leave doubts in him about her. He would definitely go back to it.
Right there, he made a call,”Get me the call log information of my wife for the past two years” he requested. He doesn’t want it to be that morning alone.
Then he remembered another thing “I want to know all about her bank transactions for the past ten years” he added, and hung up.
“What do you need those things for?” Luna asked. She wants him to find out about things that mattered. Not just Bank accounts and call logs.
“I heard her talking to someone and asking them to stop Luna from finding her son. Isn’t it obvious why I came running to your place to find out if you were pregnant back then?” He asked, Pausing and glancing at her.
“So I want to know who she called, who she’s been talking to. Only now do I believe that she knows something about our son” he concluded.
Shortly after that, Richard and Luna left. Richard wanted to take her hand but Luna resisted him and he didn’t bother her again. He walked her away from the room where they met Rodgers, to another room.
But when Richard got in, and Luna after him, she knew it wasn’t a hotel room, it’s a presidential suite. It’s two times larger than the other rooms.
It was separated into several compartments. A mini sitting room, a thick window blinds separating the sitting room with the bedroom portion. A wine cellar at another end, then the rest room.
“It’s Adrian’s lounge. He owns the hotel” he informed, and didn’t say anything else. Their son would also have grown large this way but evil people scheme against Luna and their son.
“Owns it personally or by the family?” Luna asked. This is one of the largest hotels in New Jersey, a five star hotel with a grand entrance and well designed architectural work.
“It’s a personal property of his and he has the same in other places” Richard replied. Besides him, no one else has access to the lounge except its owner.
He offered her a seat, got two bottles of wine and poured them. He hasn’t stopped thinking about his son with Luna. So he’d always had two sons all these years and doesn’t know it?
And the son with Luna would definitely be older. How can his eldest son be away from him for over twenty seven years? He’s a grown man now.
He won’t be needing him in his life anymore. The time a child needs his parents, none of them is available for him. Will he ever find a place in his heart to forgive him, especially?
“You decided to not come to my aid back then. Did you hate me back then or you were drunkenly in love with Anna?” Luna asked, the question has lingered in her mind for so long.
Richard walked over, passed her a glass of wine and took a sip from it. He placed the glass down and said “It’s none of it, to be precise.
I was working hard to help you out. I tracked the fellow who testified against you and we were heading somewhere when your lawyer informed me that you requested that I back out of the case.
I was already involved with Anna at the time though. We were seeing each other, I was still eager to get you out and see you vindicated but you sent your lawyer to me and that got me pissed up…” Richard explained.
“No, I didn’t say that. How can I say that you should back out from helping me?” Luna stuttered. Is she stupid to say that?
“You did. Your lawyer delivered the message to me and warned me to stay away from his client. So I did but gave him reports and details of how far I’ve gone with the work underground” Richard insisted.
Luna was dazed. Something isn’t right somewhere. “My lawyer told me you told him not to bother you again because you’re now a married man and don’t want anything to interfere with your marriage” she declared.
Richard was stunned.
